I wonder if she just needed to disappear for a while. I've definitely felt like doing something similar before

Sometimes trauma causes amnesia, heartbreak can cause trauma.

My money is on head trauma combined with extreme stress.

Congratulations! Your video was interesting enough, not to mention short enough, for me to watch immediately and not later. Thank you.

Nah, she wanted to scare her husband back into her arms again, the clue: the name she used at the hotel was that of the woman her husband was cavorting with🤫😉.

Somehow I find this story delightful. I guess a little mystery is a good thing.

I can understand what mental state she would have been in if she was contemplating suicide. I can also understand why she didn't want that episode to be in her life.

There's another disappearance in the 1920's you could cover: The "Disappearance" of Aimee Semple McPherson

You know, it's the weirdest thing. I stumbled across that story literally only a couple of hours ago by complete chance. I will definitely have to do a video on it, but it might be a while before I can.

Her story is similar to that of a minister I knew. He never said it aloud, but knowing his story, he probably wanted a respite. He didn't disappear or forget the trauma, though; he became our pastor instead.

In England we have Berkshire but it's pronounced "Barksha" just like "Derby" is pronounced "Darby". It's to do with English having Germanic roots and something to do with umlauts that have vanished into history hehehe

She probably hit her head in the car accident and wandered about for a week with amnesia. BTW the photo at the beginning is a composite. She and the chair she is sitting in were placed into another photograph probably by a PR firm working for her or her agent. Long ago people in advertising realized that doing things like that makes the photo "mysterious". An early form of clickbait if you will and just as cheezy today as it was then.

Yes, and she married an archeologist and went on diggings with him, and it was a happy, long marriage.
