Two things: 1: This isn't actually ideal for an emergency stop. If you need to stop quickly in a modern car, even with a manual transmission, just stomp the brake. ABS will prevent lock-up and you'll slow down quicker. Riding the clutch is unnecessary and causes additional wear. Sure, you'll stall the engine. But your priority is on not crashing, not keeping the engine running. 2: This could be avoided entirely by not tailgating the person in front. You aren't racing down the Hangar Straight at Silverstone, you're trying to make your way down Interstate 70.
@@Coolgamer400 Agreed, It would actually prevent wear on the gears. Still, in an emergency just slam the brakes if you aren't experienced enough to do both.
In adtion to 1: Not pressing in the clutch adds a bit of additional resistance from the engine to help you stop a bit quicker. If your brakes are good enough this will only give you a tiny bit of an advantage but its helpful and easier so why not just hit the brake.
@@christianartemnostratis8165 I don't know what kind of new age manual you drive but every single manual still brakes even when the engine is off, for cars that are from around 2008 and upwards the brakes fluid is pressurised by a pump powered by the engine which makes the brake less effective when the engine is off, but it still works
@semtheprogamingmaster8610 no, if you want to suddenly break you dont hit the clutch you'll lose the engine break. You can go low gear fast but dont ever step hard on clutch like the woman on the first video. Best thing is to just slam the break down to the last second to avoid collision

I think he's indicating to shift into a lower gear to aid your braking. It can help, but your tires only have so much traction. As others have said, "it's better not to follow too close so you have space to brake."
Na hes just stupid and thinks that engine braking gives you any advantage in an emergency braking situation. It doesnt. the brakes are able to fully lock up the wheels, thats why you have ABS on basically any vehicle past the year 2000.

But that was a sound effect. Think about it. You really think this car crash happened while she was conveniently filming her feet on the pedals? They do it SEVERAL TIMES. Braking and not hitting and braking and hitting. The whole thing is staged. The SCREAMS are sound effects.
@@brindlebucker4741blud did NOT get the joke
Brakes are NOT connected to acceleration/ clutch. If your life depends on it slam the brakes and worry about the clutch later
The best thing you can do if your life depends on it is to not push the clutch in at all, leave the car in gear, slam breaks, and turn car off, so don't push the clutch at all if lives depend on it
@@SoupIsSouppy this but also if there is alittle more time for you to react and break do downshifts they will help your car to stop faster if you can downshift fast enough but you got to make sure you hit the breaks as hard as you can (if you have a car with ABS)
@kiwichem4336 that is true, ideally you wouldn't turn your car if while moving in gear
@@kiwichem4336 NO. Engine break will not help you stop faster if you slam on the brakes. I really hope you are not a diver...
@@pintiliecatalin it will take away some force from the brakes though therefore your brakes are less likely to overheat causing brake fade this is only a problem though if youre emergency breaking in high speeds. But in general during an emergency break slam on the brake pedal as hard as you can. And when youre driving always be cautious and keep safe distances so that the likely hood of having to do an emergency break goes down.
POV that one guy screeching up how to drive tutorial on RUclips 💀
As someone who has barely avoided a collision by braking hard, yes your first instinct should be slamming the brakes.
I ended up stalling obviously but at least I didn’t hit the car in front.
Good tip. Before my last crash, I didn't know that the brake pedal didn't work on its own without a PS2 cheat code.
Hate to be the first commenter. But... surprisingly underrated
It’s a manual transmission. Most cars are automatic. But manuals are pretty common in a lot of countries and in some heavier vehicles.

Yeah why are we driving so fast so close to other cars. If there is enough traffic you are surrounded don’t speed faster than you can break to sudden stops.
Personally if I’m so close to you I can barely see ahead of your car I’m too close.
Everyone on expressways drive to close for the speed. 1 to 2 car lengths of space when they need probably 15 to 20 car lengths for reaction time
and also be patient,
walmart won't go anywhere,
nobody gonna take your grocery and your chicken lickin finger away, so chill out.
the worst thing that could happen is that you spent 2-5 more minute on the road, which is negligible, compared to the time you spent dealing with car crash
@@jensenraylight8011 they’ll spend 2 hours on TikTok and only give themselves 5 minutes to get somewhere
@@jakez5227 if they need 15-20 the shouldnt be driving. That’s some form of impairment. I think 3-6 gives you enough to react at most highway speeds.
Edit:typo
Two things:
1: This isn't actually ideal for an emergency stop.
You aren't racing down the Hangar Straight at Silverstone, you're trying to make your way down Interstate 70.
you're rigth, but also slamming the clutch (disengange it) will not result in any additional wear.
nahh you gotta WO XING SHI WO ZING SHI ZHE BI ZHING ZI WO XING SHI
@@Coolgamer400 Agreed, It would actually prevent wear on the gears. Still, in an emergency just slam the brakes if you aren't experienced enough to do both.
@@chillcorner4ever What does this even mean
In adtion to 1: Not pressing in the clutch adds a bit of additional resistance from the engine to help you stop a bit quicker. If your brakes are good enough this will only give you a tiny bit of an advantage but its helpful and easier so why not just hit the brake.
Moral of the story: don't drive dangerously close if you dont know how to break

@@christianartemnostratis8165 I don't know what kind of new age manual you drive but every single manual still brakes even when the engine is off, for cars that are from around 2008 and upwards the brakes fluid is pressurised by a pump powered by the engine which makes the brake less effective when the engine is off, but it still works

@semtheprogamingmaster8610 no, if you want to suddenly break you dont hit the clutch you'll lose the engine break. You can go low gear fast but dont ever step hard on clutch like the woman on the first video. Best thing is to just slam the break down to the last second to avoid collision
