- A large female brown bear cathces a salmon near the mouth of McNeil River. Tom Griffin, ADF&G biologist and Supervisor of the McNeil River Sanctuary, comments on bear morphology. There is no place like the McNeil Sanctuary to learn to be comfortable with a large brown bear running directly towards you and eating a salmon only feet away. They are aware of our presence but are not interested in, or concerned about, people.

This makes me so hungry seeing the bear tear up the skin
do bears get fish bones stuck in their throats like we do?
I have not observed anything like that. Since these bears depend so heavily on salmon I would suspect that any difficulties in "processing" them would be selected out of the population.
Eating with a view
