My kid is going to flip when he gets home from school and sees this. He's been learning this (and its not bad), but he loves watching your vids and he'll be psyched. Thanks, Marty!
As more of an old school blues based guitarist, I like venturing into metal to stretch myself. I remember my first time soloing to Rock You Like A Hurricane and how my blues rock feel wasn’t really cutting it and decided to learn some metal riffing and soloing to add to my tool bag. Love the 80s metal guitar 👍
We do this in our band with me (as the singer) doing the harmony part - great fun! and if i can play it any fool can - not overly difficult even though it looks super fast and impossible on first glance - Thanks Marty, top job as always
Marty, I swear every time I want to learn a song its you that comes up first, and for good reason. I'll no doubt use this vid extensively like I have many others. You are the face of guitar teachers on yt, and you're killing it
you got that right whenever i wanna learn a song ill search it and 8x/10 marty will have a vid on it alot of megadeth songs n other metal songs arent there but i will always check with professer marty first!!! hes the best teacher ever he taught me my first riffs on the e string to layla by clapton, master of puppets u name it.. ima better guitarist because of marty! im so grateful we have him
My God for the first time someone actually mentioned to play the verse lick NOT as a power chords but just notes D G D bleeding together. That is so helpful because I tried it with power chords and it really hard to get them up to speed and clean at the same time. I was trying to do it with different fingerings and muting combinations and could never get it to the way I wanted. Now I can, thanks so much!!
If it helps anyone to know, the Key is E MINOR ... which means the F is Sharp (#). But, it's the one note that's omitted ... at least in Part A. With Hexatonic Scales, the Lochrian Root is typically the note that gets tossed. Makes sense.
Been learning this for months- only been playing for half a year but I can play this song pretty decently at 80%-90% speed already, but the galloping during the verse is where most of my struggles lie! Very difficult to pull off the timing and in my case the pick moves around a lot there too.
these riffs are a crazy finger workout, i have muscles I've never noticed aching in my hand. I usually play fingerstyle, folk, and bluegrass and wanted to learn some iron maiden riffs for practicing flatpicking. Good one Marty!
I like videos like this where the song is played first for more advanced players. I just need to watch and I can basically play along to most things. Saves a lot of time. Thanks.
@@ryanhennessey977 it was their 1st tour back in the states. And yes, they hadn't played nor went on tour in years. The Somewhere Back in Time tour I believe is what it was called. 2006. Their 1st tour back.

Secret Sauce Recommendation. Delay on the trills. Any $100 amp modeler has delay with a tap tempo these days. Using delay on the high pitch note section tightens the timing up and brings it into the magic zone. Kinda like the unison D bend in “whole lotta love.” Without out that secret sauce it just never sounds right. Tap in the tempo of the song 1 2 3 4 beat etc, and your delay will help you hit the notes with microscopic precision. It creates the magic even more than the second guitar harmony. Oh and thats E minor not E, but hey you learned from diatonic triad man😜😝🤪😜🤪
Awesome lesson Marty!! Huge fan and I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Would you do a lesson on los lonely boys change the world? Can’t find and lessons on that song and it’s great.
