"Many of the ideas I had for Kikstart II weren't right for it. At a time when you could only dream of 3D, I was impressed with the SEGA arcade game Super Locomotive, spending long Saturday afternoons playing it. It featured a unique dual perspective, with side and top views that were negotiated in synchrony. I combined this concept with Kikstart, adding the big graphics of an arcade game but wanting the feel of a simulator. It was innovative and visually impressive but lacked the fun and competition aspects of Kikstart. I never made that mistake again." -- Andrew Morris, co-designer and graphic artist [Super Scramble Simulator]
Thank you for taking the time to upload this video. I'm the designer of the game, I haven't see it since the 80s. I liked the C64 version, it was good fun and had large graphics - unusual on the C64. Unfortunately, we screwed up the Amiga version, which had terrible playability. Good to see this here though, so thanks - Andrew Morris.
+TWOTM I'm afraid I can't help, it was designed a long time ago and most things about it are forgotten. I'm glad you liked the game enough to consider doing your own version. Thank you.
Just wanted to say thank you! I loved the game back when I was a kid. Played it during summer with my friend, in an actual tent that we set up next to the cottage house of may parents. We hooked up a TV and a camp bed - spent entire days playing this game. I remember the graphics to be were very impressive. Had a lot of fun :)
Bows humbly to the designer of one of my favourite games from my childhood. I grew up with the Amiga version, and maybe just me, but still remembering it as playable, lots of fun, but later levels hard as heck, as should be! Trip down memory lane! Thank you for this gem!
One of the few games that I bought for the C64. I remember going with my dad to the local computer store to pick out a game. He was happy with my choise. But man, this game was difficult!! (like games were back in the day)
I was rooting for you to get further then I got when I was a kid, but you got impatient at the end as I could tell. I wonder what craziness comes for the final tracks I never got to see. Such a challenging game! 🙂
the sound is amazing. it sounds like a clean, synthetic, sweet, neverending fart of varying pressure.

Always good to hear from old 64 designers. Great days.

Games like this showcase the c64 as being the ultimate 8 bit machine of its time

I like the music. There are some flamenco tunes
This game made me ragequit long before the word was invented.
I remember playing this to death back in the day...im gonna go have a go now :-)
That game is infuriating hell to play but also very well done ;)
Rattopaz. You are Master. Awesome longplay :)
Der Sprite ist relativ groß für den C 64.
