Band-Maid had a dream of performing at the world famous Budokan. On Feb 14 2020 at Line Cube Shibuya concert it was announced to their fans, that the dream was coming true and Band-Maid would perform at Budokan on a National Holiday Feb 11 2021. video shows the girls back stage reaction to the fans reaction(still gives me shivers). very sadly this concert was the last live concert in front of fans as COVID shut the planet down shortly after the announcement.
One year later the Band were still feeling hopeful for the concert, it would be scaled down and there would be no overseas fans because tourism had been shut down completely,
They wrote "About Us" as a love letter to the fans and to debut it live at Budokan. it would have been an incredibly emotional performance and the crowd singin along with the chorus would have been mind blowing IMO lol i'm tearing up just thinking about it...any how please everyone read the lyrics to About Us, CC subs on the video.
So instead of performing to live loving adoring fans they had to perform it in an almost soulless environment for the Feb 11 online Onkyu Ji to camera men. Saiki spoke to us the fans directly before the song with a very emotional statement.(hopefully someone can find the translation)
I loved EVERY second of the show, but I will always be saddened for Band-Maid that we can still not meet(yet)

I don't know how they do it.. I love this band for the energy that they transmit, their songs are full of power but with harmonies, catchy chorus and more. But this one, this song hits all the feelings and leave you with goosebumps all along, especially with the vocal harmonization between Saiki and Miku. This song is a perfect combination of pop/jazz/rock vibes and a really good ballad to us, their fans.

They wrote the song as a thank you to the fans and were going to perform it at the 2021 Nippon Budokan show but it was canceled do to COVID-19. They then set up the live stream and opened with about us.

They are Beautiful & Amazing masters of so many genres. They take a menu of genres and mix it and blend it perfectly with just the right spices to create musical genius and all with so much feeling and amazing energy!!!! Best band on the planet! Kanami often writes the songs (at least the melody) on piano. She also composes them at a slower tempo and then speeds them up during recording.
This song has grown on me. Tbe bluesy jazz style shows their versatility. I did have one question...what does Clean Guitar mean? Without distortion?
I'm all for Puzzle next. Another good candidate is Blooming. Very melodic hard rock song with one of Kanami's better and longer solos.

I watch a lot of reactions to BANDMAID. It amazes me when some “hard core” metal guy reacts to this. It usually follows this path: “What? What is this? Pop? (Listens for a while sceptically) Listen to that bass! Oh wow that’s beautiful...

They always get turned around and end up having even more respect for the band. It’s just one of the many things I love about BANDMAID - their depth of talent and ability to pull off virtually any style like it’s their own. 😍

Very good assessment of the performance. It is indeed a beautiful song really highlighted by Miku and Saiki's stunning vocals amplifified by the layering. It just adds to impact to the chorus.
Miku has written the lyrics with separation element in mind,between the fans and the.band. Misa on bass is great as always making use of those highs in breaks. Kanami adds the extra guitar to the acoustic. It is one of the band's highly produced songs. So many additions and inclusions but it's those double vocals that just produce that powerful emotion. Sooth the soul. That screen shot sums it up. This diversity does make The Maids a unique band. A quintessential blend of east meets west and they produce the music oh so well.

@@akaalexanderking Watching interviews of these girls over the years they have been together and the interactions between them and then on stage is just mind blowing. Saiki is reserved and shy at times and seem's uncomfortable giving interviews. Misa too is truly the assassin with the looks
she gives (love her)...Kanami and Akane are so quiet and polite and Miku see's the world through the eyes of a child..everything seems wonderous and magical to her...Turn them loose on stage and my jaw drops lol

It bugs me every time I hear this at the moment the first few seconds sound like something else I have heard and I just cannot place it.
Loving some of that snare work, because speed is not required in this song Akane gets to show off her subtlety and perfect touch.
Absolutely, the velocity of her hits is so great. So much feeling and interpretation goes into that
That sense of familiarity is almost a Band-Maid signature, I don't know how they do it. It's almost like they do things that feel like they obviously should have been done already by someone, but somehow weren't until Band-Maid. Maybe it's just taking classic musical tropes and adding new wrinkles.
And that's pretty much the essence of what being an artist is in today's day and age :)
if you liked Wagakki Band you should try Band-Maiko, Band-Maid with traditional instrument elements

Non c'è molto da aggiungere, solo sottolineare il perché noi Maidiacs le amiamo così tanto..non è perché sono 5 ragazze giapponesi, per quanto mi riguarda potrebbero esser omoni con la barba, ma è per la loro musicalità e la connessione e rispetto che hanno per i fan.
Non è scontato che una band componga una canzone con le motivazioni di About Us, già solo per questo è un brano UNICO.
Sono così speciali per i fan perché la loro musicalità tocca l'anima, sono oggettivamente canzoni belle da ascoltare per chiunque..in più loro sono così semplici e genuine e ci amano come noi amiamo loro.
Non suonano perché vogliono fare soldi o diventare famose, lo fanno perché amano la musica e amano renderci felici con la loro visione di sound e tutto questo non ha prezzo!!
Per loro suonare in un locale davanti a pochi fan significa tutto e per noi supportarle verso il World Domination è un obbiettivo...perché oltre a tutto c'è tanto talento dietro e tutto il globo deve ascoltarle e amarle

I think this is exactly the song that was missing on their latest studio release (still a killer album though)! If you want to check out more of their mellower stuff I think the usual suspects are be Daydreaming & Wonderland, both gorgeous especially in their live renditions. I really enjoyed this latest MV and already preordered the Blu-Ray :)

Mate, you're right about the emotion in this one. And yet, even with the lower tempo they still deliver a track with plenty to listen to musically, a Band Maid signature.

First comment on this channel, so first of all I'd like to thank you for your reviews, they are some of the most insightful on RUclips, so it's always nice to listen to your take on the stuff I already know and love.
Second, I'd want to recommend checking out another Japanese band called Trident. They are fairly new, their first album comes out later this month, and they are sometimes called "a new Band-Maid in the making". And while their sound is fairly different, I can definitely see where the comparisons are coming from. As for individual songs, I can recommend my personal favourite Ambivalent (the bassline is awesome) or the newest single Imagination which just came out earlier today, but you can't really go wrong with their newer stuff.
They've technically been around since 2016 or so under a different name, Girls Rock Band Revolution, and with a different drummer, but it was a not very balanced band to say the least, so I prefer to think of GRBR and Trident as of two different entities.

You definetly need to watch some of Japan's absolutely finest - Asterism. She's truely a guitar prodigy.

I'm sure that some of the Maidiacs will give you a upload of the video. You really need to hear Kanami's beautiful voice backing up Saiki. Definitely want to hear more from her.

I've been lagging a bit when it comes to watching your cover songs due to some unforeseen issues but I should be able to start back in on them. Wanted to give you an update? of sorts.
My dream of a BAND-MAID super group seems to have failed, unfortunately. 4 guitarists all said yes but the bassist and 2 drummers I asked never responded. I have had a few suggestions on singers from other BAND-MAID fans but I never asked due to the lack of interest from the rhythm section. Thanks for all you do and for keeping us entertained. Be safe.

I love this song. BAND-MAID always impresses, and MISA's bass line is so luscious. I didn't catch any backing vocals that were piped in; I thought it was all Miku and Saike. I'll have to re-watch with a more critical ear.

since you also love lovebites, I dare to request/recommend a song to you. because it can be easily overlooked, although it is in my opinion on the same level as "swan song", edge of the world", "glory to the world" and "epilogue". miho and haruna make some different groove than usual. there are spanish guitars involved, killer melodies and composition. asami sents some strong bruce dickinson vibes and for me the solos sound even better as usual. there has been a live video, in which miho started tearing up heavily, because her father died not long before and it´s an emotional song. asami comforted her and miho didn´t miss a note. now there is "just" a fanmade video, which shows the highlights of the concerts. the song is called "a frozen serenade" ruclips.net/video/SqeV01FvyR4/видео.html you guessed it already, it is my favourite lovebite song (although all of their songs are awesome). i can listen to it constantly on repeat. have a great week and once again thank you for your reactionvideos.

I would be careful doing Puzzle it is not from the Band Maid official channel and therefore you might well get a copyright strike from the RIAJ (Japanese Music industry watchdog)

@@akaalexanderking accoustic was played only once during Zepp Tokyo concert. That is the only version. Together with acoustic anemone.
@@akaalexanderking It would need to be audio only from sat Spotify, but i'd look at say Secret My Lips by Band Maid and then Secret Maiko Lips by Band Maiko if you wanted a two video reaction. Band Maiko was a April fools joke they started that grew from there and the differences in the two songs are fun.
