The first, the one and only, the one that made me fall in love with the game as there’ll never be another player like him as he was so explosive and that’s what made him the most feared striker and there’s no comparison as the game was more aggressive back then hence his injuries! 😊

      He was never.
Let's put things in its place and not too far.
I don't watch peak r9 but I sure watched Ronaldinho, Messi and Cr7.
I can say that R9 is no where near that level of Messi and Cr7, they're more complete and advance and have better consistency.
Ronaldo 4th best season is better than R9 best season ever.
Messi 6th best season is better than R9 best season ever.

@@JoaSportsyour inexperience speaks for yourself, numbers aren't everything. Personally my GOAT is CR7, but how can you deny the fact that R9 faced defenders like nesta, maldini, cannavaro, staam etc who were all miles ahead of what Messi and Cristiano faced.
R9 was better at destroying opponents than Cristiano and Messi.
I prefer CR7 as he's more inspirational, if R9 had the commitment of Cristiano we wouldn't be having any debate, just like there's no debate in Basketball

@@yogeshcyr31 nah R9 was nothing compared to them honestly.
Football and defense was not a tough as it is today. Even the goalkeeping and playstyle is difficult nowadays.
Messi and Ronaldinho was better at taking defenders than R9, so please do your research, even Manchester United Ronaldo was better than R9 in dribbling defenders than R9.
R9 is not on their level(Cr7&Messi) Please. Let's forget the what if or what if he did this or that.
He didn't and with the career he had he's not on their level even when you watch two of them.
c.Ronaldo hits Free-kick from long range or long shots and his left foot is out of this world plus the numbers he put in are abnormal and he has skill and also good heading.
More goals than game in real Madrid.
Winning UCL top scorer 6 times in a row + best player. Cr7 is too consistent.
Even R9 said he was fortunate to be compared to Cr7 Because what Cr7 and Messi have done for football is enormous.
Let's forget Nolstagia, I grow up idolizing Ronaldinho but Messi & Cr7 are way better than these guys
Even though Ronaldinho play the most enjoyable Football.

My rating is not about who achieved something, but who played how well! R9 did things that no CR7 or Ronaldinho could do. these are completely different dimensions. I also believe that a comparison of successes is not appropriate, as R9 had to struggle with serious injuries. But well, everyone has a different opinion and that's okay.

Please let's stop being biased or add Nolstagia Everytime.

Ronaldo's knee injury is one of the most serious injuries in football history. It's not without reason that he was out for several years because of this. Many doctors even said that his career was over. For most players, their careers would have been over. Torn knee ligaments will never heal properly. See Kaka, he never recovered from his injuries. Ronaldo's excess weight was caused by a metabolic disease. People always say that he has no discipline. Anyone who fights back after such a long and serious injury and never gives up doesn't have too little discipline. Something like this is only possible with a big fighting heart.
Ronaldo lost at least 20% of his abilities. He had to build up significantly more muscle mass to stabilize his damaged knees again. He was no longer as fast, no longer as explosive, and no longer as agile as before his injury. He had to become a different type of player than he was before his injury. Completely reinvent yourself.
johan Cruyff said just weeks before the 2002 World Cup in response to Ronaldo's critics. He said: "Yes, he is only 80% of what he was before both his knees were injured, but 80% Ronaldo is still the best of all time", and the rest is history. Brazil won the cup and Ronaldo scored 8 goals without penalty!
Imagine that, you won't be a part of the game for years. Then celebrate your comeback as a completely new type of player who has lost 20% of your skills and yet you are still better than everyone else. If the 80% Ronaldo is better than everyone else, then how good must the 100% Ronaldo have been? That's exactly what Van Nistelroy says in the video above.
Look at what the 80% Ronaldo did to Puyol and co. Puyol no longer knew where the ball had come from.
r9 was even named the best comeback in the entire sport.
People forget that it was a smooth transition to the next generation. he was still on the pitch with Messi and CR7. his opponents included Maldini, Desailly, Nest, Canavaro, Thuram, Cafu, R.Carlos, Puyol and many more big names in Football
Despite this, he made his opponents look like little children. they fell over in rows because they didn't know where the ball had gone.
Finally, he let the goalkeeper jump into the wrong corner.
He played against the same defenders. Maldini didn't have much trouble against CR7. Maldini had taught CR7 a lesson. R9 played against Prime Maldini. When Maldini played against Ronaldo, he told his teammates that he needed support.
Maldni said: "Facing Maradona was great, but facing Ronaldo was a nightmare. The three greatest players I saw in my career were Messi, Maradona and him (R9)"
Ronaldo was already playing at a world class level at the age of 17 and was a regular player in the A teams in the professional field.
Look at 17(!) year old Ronaldo at PSV Eindhoven
The 45-year-old Buffon has come face-to-face with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Leui Suarez, Filipo Inzhagi, Alessandro Del Piero and Didier Drogba but he says that none match up to the legendary former Brazil man.
"There haven't been many players in recent years that have made me suffer too much. The one player that certainly did so was Ronaldo, the Brazilian one," explained the veteran stopper in an interview with 'Marca'.
"He was clinical, fast, intelligent, technically gifted... he was the perfect striker. He always left you mouth agape in wonder. It really did seem like he was made in a laboratory... I never thought that a single human "could have all of the gifts that he had," concluded Italy's No 1.

Ronaldo was like what Jonah lomu was to rugby. Only difference is, is that lomu did that in an era where rugby was at a semi pro level compared to today. Ronaldo looked levels ahead, probably at the peak of football. That serie A was in imo the toughest league in the history of the game. Games were tight, unlike today where you see a lot of 8-0 or 6/7 goals a game. The defenders in italy at the time were without a doubt the best bunch out of any era. You had Maldini, Costacurta, Tassotti, Bergomi, Cannavaro, Thuram, Nesta, Ferrara, Carrera, Montero, Mijhalovic, Samuel, Aldair, Vierchowod just to name a few. They had the worlds best GK too. Peruzzi, Buffon, Toldo, Dida, Marchegiani, Pagliuca, Taglialatela, van der sar.
Such a shame he had those injuries

The defending argument along with more lenient referees are the only thing that needs to be said. R9 played in the greatest time ever for the sport, just look at the quality of the international teams between 95-2006 football now is completely centralised amongst 8 clubs and 2/3 international teams, the bottom half of most league teams now are abysmal outside of the premier league and maybe serie a.

    • @spz8342
      @spz8342 4 месяца назад +1

@Irishesbox11 yes I've been saying this, can't believe how much the level has dropped. I too make the international comparison. For example Brazil were favourites for the world cup last year, but if you compare to 2006 Brazil, there's like 5 levels difference. I mean richarlson was barely playing for spurs, whilst in 2006...you already know.
Almost every team was better back then. Its incredible. What's happened? I think the lesser teams have got better (but you're right about bottom half of other leagues outside prem), but the quality at the top has definitely took a nose dive.

@@spz8342 Exactly mate look at the Spanish/Italian national side now its a joke. There are only two world class international teams now England (squad strength) and France (based mainly on Mbappe), that Argentina team that won the world cup is the worst tournament winner since Greece in 2004. Years ago in a friendly England played a back five for 20-odd minutes consisting of Neville, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand and Campbell compare that to any side now. I genuinely think football is dying, as an Irishman based in Brazil I have watched youth football in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico in my travels and frankly the level is shite, bascially the clubs act as a battery chicken farm hoping to find one or two kids a year to export to Europe before they hit 14. This causes huge issues with international identity with players making international appearences without any connection to their home society. This is happening in Africa and lesser European states too.

    • @spz8342
      @spz8342 4 месяца назад

@@Irishesbox11 I'm Italian and this summer will be the first tournament in my lifetime, that we don't have at least two world class defenders. You could say we don't have any players of that calibre.
Totally agree mate, England and France are the only decent teams, but even they're not better than their past teams.
Absolutely, Argentina were nothing special at all. Very average. All of S America is poor at the minute, Chile, Colombia again bang average.
Yeah that's another issue, I don't understand why they allow players to change nationality. It's a joke. It should be bloodline, back to your grandad, or place of birth. It's definitely tarnished international football. I remember Desailly cheering on Ghana as a pundit and that hurt, cos we lost in 2000 and France had quite a few non french players. Or Senna for Spain, was pretty important in their first Euro win. Don't get me wrong Italy have had a few lately non Italians and I disagree. But camoranesi and Jorginho do actually have Italian grand parents.
What's going on then? Is it the internet? Boxing is the same, it's been crap for a while if compared to 90's, 00's and before

Social media has a huge part to play, I remember before Neymar left Brazil there was commentators calling him the best player of all time...crazy stuff. Decades ago you had to have 5 years of constant performance before fans cared about you. Italy is a prime example of this especially with defenders and traditional number 10s, Del Piero and Totti had to wait before they became international regulars, Del Piero never really did, at the same time you had Casano, Zola (older), Carbone, Di Canio, Baggio(older version) who all could play 10/9, thats not even thinking about the best part of the squad (the back line). The way he played football was just amazing, nowadays you can stand in the box for 88 minutes a game and get 2 tap ins and be considered the best player in the world but back then Ronaldinho and Ronaldo didn't play a stat padding numbers game, they played football.
Messi 2012 or 2018/19 is the only other player I have seen to hit that level of just... extra. Its an extra class above all others and I imagine the other 3 who hit that level would have been Cruyff, Maradona and Pele although I wasn't fortunate enough to see them play, but I got to see a crippled Ronaldo win the world cup and score 2 in the final as if he was footballs main character.

If it wasn’t for the injuries and the hyperthyroidism, no doubt he would’ve been the best ever. I didn’t see weakness in his game before 1999. After he came back he was at 70-80% of what he was, still was one of the best in the world. Won the ballon d’Or, and the top scorer in 2002 World Cup. One of my favorite players of all time but so unlucky.

My all time favourite, he is the reason i started watching football, he had TWO career ending injuries but yet came back and schooled every defender and goalkeeper he faced.
    I just love this guy🖤

He dominated the world on one knee and we talk about him a decade and a half after he retired. In between that time we have been graced with Ronaldo 7 & Messi and he’s still brought up. There’s no “if he didn’t have” he did have injuries and he still managed to be the goat. That’s not withstanding the genius of Ronaldo and Messi as well.
