I love it man it would be awesome if you could do more detailed tutorials of the technique and how to paint the figure in the same way you did to get the same result. I love your work, thank you very much for sharing.
Dude I think the same! Tutorial plz!I'd love to start really quality paint job on my figures, but I dont have the technics and not the money to try it in a figure and maybe have a unsatisfactory result haha
Goku black definitely. I wouldn't really want to buy a whole new figure for what would be just the exact same mold as base goku just with red hair. I doubt they would ever do something like this but I would totally drop 50 bucks on a figure rise accessories kit that cam with nothing but new faces and forms for all the current figures. (It would include stuff like ssg hair for goku and vegeta. Black hair for teen gohan. Angry faces for frieza and cell, battle damage stickers, ect.)
I use hobby acrylics. The brand of paint I use is called Mr Color. But anything that is acrylic base should be good. Tamiya paints, flesh tone mixed with a bit of white and dark brown to get the shading and highlights. Good luck with your build!
Your painting skills are pretty impressive! I got an airbrush and some suggested colors and I was wondering how do you paint without putting primer on top of the figure and what colors do you usually use for the skin tone I new at this hole air paint thing and it would really help if you could share some of your knowledge with me!
I usually prep my kits by giving them a light sand with some 2000 grit sand paper and a wipe down with thinner. Not too heavy, just enough to remove oils and give the paint a little something to bite on to. For flesh i use a brand called mr. Color. I use their flesh tone mixed with a little red and yellow and about 50% white. This gives you a good base, so if you wanna go darker later you can. Just add less white. I thin everything out with thinner to get a good consistency. Take your time and keep your air brush clean. I hope this helps mate! Good luck and have fun!
So I recently built Super Vegito model kit but watching this video I really want to take it a step further in customizing my model. But I don’t know anything about painting head sculpt. Any tips please? Was thinking about painting the hair blue or a metallic black. What should I do? Awesome video by the way 👍🏻
Sure mate! 3 easy things you can do that will really take your kit to the next level. 1. Sand the parts you want to paint lightly. This will help the paint stick a whole lot better and prevent paint rub in the future. If your using hobby spray cans, warm up the cans in some hot water and spray in thin layers. Take your time with it, light coats will give you a silly smooth finish. 3. Use some matte finish on everything except your hair and itll make the figure look like a premium import figure! Good luck and have fun with it!
This looks awesome! Good job! I bought this figure last week and I'm looking to build it in the next couple days. I may paint Gogeta's blue hair to a bit darker colour later down the line. What do you use to paint the figures (paint and equipment)? I'm looking into getting a Naruto figure too.
I love it! I would have preferred the skin tone to be a little bit lighter as it did seem a little bit dark to me but anyways, it's awesome and most importantly of all its yours and you may do what you feel right. Awesome video BTW.
@@eightysixedreviews Thanks for replying back to me. I guess even I'll give it a go on one of my bootleg figures and hopefully it comes out well. Keep up the good work and... Peace!
@@eightysixedreviews Thanks again too and sorry for troubling you soooooooooo much but I just have one last question. first of all incredible work! I want to start painting my figures ! what is your airbrush and what paints do you recommend to use in painting the figures?
Thank you! I appreciate that. I use an Iwata CPH? I believe it’s called but anything made by Iwata is great. The paints I use are tamiya acrylics. I hope that helps.
I was considering getting this figure rise figure, and I would love to try and custom paint it. I'm not really experienced with painting hardly anything to be honest, how would you recommend someone who's inexperienced to go about custom painting a model kit like this? I just felt a little lost through this video 😅
I totally get it! There’s actually really easy things you can do that I think will make your model look much better. I just went all out with an airbrush but you definitely don’t have to do that. The colors are already there, so you could do some panel lining. Use some acrylic water based colors and give a simple wash. Some people use Gundam markers to panel line, then rub away the excess with cotton swaps dipped in some thinner. Something you can do strait away that doesn’t take any effort at all is to get some matte coat. Spray the figure with that and it’ll loose the shiny toy look and give it a much more high end action figure feel. Hope that helps!
@@eightysixedreviews Awesome, thank you so much for your reply! Those options take some stress and uncertainty about airbrushing off of me haha. I'll definitely have to try those things out!
What brand paint did you use for the skin color? And what's the paint code? Did you add shading on top of the or did you add highlights to it ? Great work
this is awsome bro, simple to understand for the step of how to paint in. little bit diferent from my experiment of how I repaint Gogeta. maybe you can send me feed back of my painting will be so honour have a knowledge from master ^_^
Pros: gives the figure a nice neutral base for paint application. Cons: another step in an already time consuming process, building, sanding, painting.
@@eightysixedreviews any plans on doing a tutorial? Slow things down and give us better view of what you're doing? I'll be getting into customs soon, I have a collection of videos to start with, but this is by far the best action figure custom video I've seen

No worries! Thanks for the comment! But I do think markers or any kind of paint or wash makes the kits look a whole lot better. Even a simple matte overcoat.

For the muscle outline could I use a micron pen then matte finish or would a different product work better?
I’m not familiar with micron pens but I know you can definitely use markers to achieve some more detail.
eightysixed reviews what color and brand for the markers?
I’ve seen people use gundam markers. There’s a frat channel called mcpaikia that uses markers. He does a fantastic job at it too!

I use the same matte coat for both Figuarts and Figure Rise
What colors did you use for the hair?
that look amazing. also, what colour name is the spray paint for the hair?
do you mind to share what colour you use for skin tone?
You didn't primed the kit first before painting with acrylics? If so, wouldn't the paint chip in time?
I didn’t prime, I just sanded with fine grit sand paper.
@@eightysixedreviews Thanks I saw this reply late! Awesome Job!
Do you have to coat your figure even if you have panel lined it?
Hi, pro and cons of prime the figure before painting?
Pros: gives the figure a nice neutral base for paint application.
Cons: another step in an already time consuming process, building, sanding, painting.
What paints did you use for the skin? And how did you shade the creases on the pants with the airbrush? Absolutely gorgeous work.

When you do the shading, are you painting light over dark or dark over light?
Light over dark

@@teo2216 that the paint he puts on is lighter / brighter than the original color. this way you only have to spray / paint the areas which stand out
