Our anachronism of an Electoral College complicates things. Losing by 3,000,000 popular votes to Hillary Clinton in 2016, he was not the popular choice. Nevertheless, he gained the office. I have some hope that sensible Republicans (an oxymoron, I know) will reject him as their candidate, but, again, his lunatic fringe cult members are dangerously committed to him. What a mess, and is is laid firmly at his feet. Perhaps his diet and his dementia will cause a major incident before November. We can only hope. There are many of us who do. The majority of these are committed to voting, and to voting Blue for Democrats.

No government worker/officer/president should have immunity EVEN IN OFFICIAL PURPOSES. If there was, the government, acting in an official capacity, could simply ignore the entire constitution, make anyone who criticizes anything simply disappear, or do any crime it wants with the excuse it was an official act. The Supreme Court has more than enough judges who want to debate issues instead of ruling on the issue they're paid to consider and rule on. Its the ultimate form in which Republicans delay, avoid and come up with a maybe to provide the time, the public with maybe's before they rule on the single issue and question .....Does a President have total immunity ? A ten year old would have no problem answering that question but for the Supreme Court leading American judicial system ?

It isn't so strange that the supreme court justices would not care about what happens with their decisions long-term. They enter office for life when they are already really old. They will live out the rest of their lives in a gilded cage and not have to face those consequences.
