The story of this story, is a soldier who has been in war for a long time, he hasn't been home, or seen his family for years, and he realizes that his family is the only thing that got him through, and he shall finally meet the people he loves... This is a true song that anyone can relate to in some way or form...
I love the beginning of the song with the acoustic. It's just so serene and peaceful, but the beginning of the mor metal part when I first heard this song surprised me, I had just listened to Dear God. FoREVer.

the songs make a story: Danger line (a soldier is fighting and gets shot), MIA (soldier is lost and others find him later), Gunslinger (soldier continues fighting then dies), nightmare (soldier is dying), afterlife (soldier is dead and searching for a way to come back) hope you like the story i put together :)
This is a great song. Listening to it always makes me a little sad though. It really gives time to think and thank.

PEOPLE. I love Avenged Sevenfold AND Slipknot. HOWEVER, this is an AVENGED SEVENFOLD song, therefore we should be discussing them and their awesomeness. Especially when this is such an AMAZING song.

In the City Of Evil the rev had a little piece of heaven making the angels scream. It was Almost easy until the rev seized the day and saved us from being lost. The rev was smart,awesome and a great drummer. Though the beast and harlot put up a great challenge to see who would be the fastest gunslinger. The Rev pulled it off and showed the Nightmare who's boss. Until the seventh trumpet sounded it had put an end to the rapture and put it to its final eternal rest.

@Phuzion1 Honestly the self titled album is great, the rev played a big part in some amazing songs. But saying the Nightmare album is "verging" on being boring, you lost it. Most are tributes to The Rev himself. It is an amazing album like all the rest. Avenged Sevenfold will never be the same, but they'll never lose it. So think before you speak, or dont speak.

@DaLarkens Ummm, dude, Slipknot is NOT death metal. I am a HUGE death metal fan and I would say Slipknot is probably thrash if not even metalcore, but they are no form of death metal... (death, melodic death, ect.)
