Mooi orgel. Respect voor de draaiers! Vergt veel van de conditie en bewegingsapparaat. Kan me herinneren dat De Gouwe vroeger in Leeuwarden speelde en ook handmatig bediend werd.

I absolutely LOVE the sound! How hard is it to turn that wheel though? I have cranked a couple at rallies, but this one is larger. Thank you so MUCH for sharing! You can hear the 105 I built on my channel. But I like YOURS! :-)
I'm curious about the composers who wrote for these machines. Who are they? Were they famous outside of the compositions for these organs? Any famous composers for "normal" orchestra also write pieces for these machines? By the way, the music itself is not bad -- it may not be quite up to the level of Tchaikovsky or Brahms, but who cares. These are really little masterpieces in their own way.
+GinDubonnet The songs are either pieces that are composed exclusively for draaiorgels, or composed for orchestra and later arranged for mechanical organs. The music itself is, in my opinion, better than orchestral music, because the piano-forte difference is easier to hear and listen to.
+GinDubonnet I believe the writers for these organs copy the music from original sheet music and at times they embellish the music to suit their own taste and change the tempo, etc. It isn't intended to sound classical. It is a beautiful sound of its own.
+Ron Keller We don't always use sheet music, we mainly use a piano or something like that to listen is we've entered the correct chord, for example. However, with some classical music, we do use sheet music.
+GinDubonne All music books need to be arranged by a competent arranger. There are many arrangers but not all are competent. Some are world class and their books are highly sought after. The music is classical, popular and modern, depending on what the organ owner wishes to have arranged for his organ. Some music will not fit on an organ's scale, due to the limitations of the limited number of notes, especially on smaller organs. There are a few well known arrangers who are also composers in their own right. Carl Frei senior is the best known. He developed the 'street organ' sound in the mid 20th Century and composed many original tunes, specifically for the street organ, and these are still played to this day.
