Dutton says Labor's student caps bill a 'dogs breakfast' as Greens slam 'race to the right'

The immigration minister, Tony Burke, says Australians 'missing out on a rental accommodation' should note that Peter Dutton 'wants to make the situation worse' after the Coalition withdrew support for Labor's student caps bill.

Speaking later in the Senate, the Greens immigration spokesperson, David Shoebridge, said Labor's rhetoric linking foreign students to the housing crisis was a 'vile political opportunism', accusing the party of embarking on a 'race to the right' and trying to 'out-Dutton Dutton'
