Very complicated for such a young bunch of musicians. Even more amazing that you all cooperated. You kids did our music justice. I was around when this song came out. I'm now 60. Rock on!
Great job. I've been playing this song for 30 years, and I know what a challenge it is to learn. It's great to see young people covering this timeless music!
Wow . Young people please, please, please make sure you each make a copy of this for yourselves. I don't know if RUclips will be forever, but you need have to have this event recorded for posterity. You may not have this moment again. Rhythm guitarist, working your socks off, not missing a note, like good old Andy Fairweather Low, doing a job that is vital, but out of the limelight. Much respect and praise young man. Drummer ....not missing a beat, salute to you. Keyboard player. Young lady you rocked those notes. Respect. Vocalists. You stepped and and fronted this .... all praise to you Lead guitar. I regret to say you'll probably never relive this moment, look back on it in years to come. I won't be around. How I wish I could have swapped places with you back in my day !! Bassist, working away and giving your all in the shadows. This was noticed and noted as to how much you contributed to this. I applaud you. Now I am going to look like the meanest dude in the valley. To the young man with the light blue guitar. What do you feel you contributed ? It was a 5:34 long set. You didn't plug your guitar in until 5:00 ? Tell me what went wrong ? I'll write this off as a bad day for you, I expect you do much more, and much better at other times. One of the best videos I've seen in while, well done. This made me very warm and happy ... thank you 47 years ago ...hell .... I was older than you guys back then ! lol Be happy and always try to enjoy life ! I hope you all do so.
Same man...not so into Kansas as such but this damn song is contender for best song ever, asskick riffs, beats, transitions, singin piano, perfected drums ...it's a generous song
I was 16 and remember this song being played in a 1976 Monte Carlo with doors open and hearing what 4 speakers REALLY sounds like. Huh, did you say something? 😂😂😂
Most pros can’t play that song! I’ve played guitar 50 years and can’t. Kudos. Seen Kansas 3 times in their prime, they are smiling! 16 when this song charted !
I like how they stayed faithful to the original studio recording - something I never even heard Kansas do in any of their live renditions of this particular song.
Friday evening Stockholm Sweden 1977 There was a little guy at the age of 12-13 already damaged by Deep Purple, Cooper Sabbath, Kiss, Sweet.... Sitting in my room infront of the radio with a taperecorder ready to catch some music of the week, a couple of lame songs passed by and i had to rewind and press paus + Rec/Play (to match the split second between the talk and first tune)... Then got hit by ♥ - Barracuda just to warm up for what i could never expect: Kansas - Carry on my wayward son - B A M !!!! holy-fukken-moly i was seriously hit and still to this day it makes me bounce between the walls playing air-everything. It makes me glad to see this deprived of true music generation find their way back to music worthy their ears
I agree, and can’t stop watching the guitar player on the far right, with the Gibson ES-335, who never actually plays it. He slides his hand up and down the neck, and every once in a while sings a word. Odd
The song that's eight songs in one. And a triple guitar attack!!! Great cover. You young'uns are on your way. Lots more playing together will polish you into a fine gem. Good Luck on tour. Cheers...
Bass player is so good. Don’t hide her in the back. Also, love the keyboardist’s smile and personality. This band is fantastic. Makes me happy. I’m 53. I know good music.
I loved the little girl on bass and the boy actually playing the guitar in front of her. I remember playing parties for free. Lots of fun starting off! Man what i would pay to be that age again!
That was an amazing performance, thank you so very much! You people did this song justice. I think I was in 8th grade when this song came out. Kansas quickly became one of my favorite bands, and one of my parents worst nightmares. Somehow I had acquired big speakers back then :-) Keep rocking!!!😀
there's always that 1% of completely random youtube recommendations where you sit up and take notice. you watch and listen from start to finish. and you're like: "wow" ✊ this is one of those moments.
i've since been recommended at least one "new" (to me) video from this channel each day for the last 3-4 days and each one seems just as good as the first! so, i give in. you've got me youtube. i'm now subscribing. 🥳 really liking the live stuff. hope you guys can maybe also do some studio recordings sometime. i for one, would love to hear them.
Our old rock is safe in the hands of young people like this. I was a little worried but after following some of the young people and their bands on RUclips I'm convinced they'll carry on the traditional style of good old rock.
That was fantastic!!! Definitely not an easy one to pull off. I didn't start playing bass until I was 17 and I remember learning just the very first part of the instrumental section by ear. I remember it took a couple days before I did that part clean. That was nearly 40 years ago. I can definitely play the song through now with no issues other than arthritis, but I didn't learn the solo section correctly for another five years. I'm glad you're all keeping this great music alive. I have the 1976 vinyl LP version of Leftoverture. The whole album is epic.
Amy commented already that the guy not playing his guitar did play on the song prior and after this one. I guess he just hadn’t learned this song. Also, this song only requires two 6 string guitars. Also, remember, he sang on the harmony vocals in this song.
OHHHHHHH WOOOOOOOOOOW, Amy, THIS IS SOOOOO COOOOOL!!!!! Seriously....I wonder if someone could forward this on to the 'Maestro'. I'm sure he would thoroughly enjoy this.....probably more than "I" do!!! Great job by these teens!! So fine!! The only 'downside' of this is that they've got the kickin' Bassist chick hidin' in the back ('heard, but not seen' kindova deal). Is that YOU, Amy? Well, whoever it is, she really does a GREAT job....and when she punches out that power note at 4:30 (after the vocal break), oooohhhh maaaaan, THAT just sounds so good !! I mean...THAT just really rawkz !! Her (your) professional playing is much-appreciated, especially at her (your) young age. Sooooo impressive (I think Dave Hope would be impressed.) The Drummer and lead Guitarist were also impressive!! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS ;-) !!!
I love ❤️ this. Jamming in the backyard. Sounding great..I saw Kanas a few times. Day on the green. An old monster summer concert series back in the day. They headlined. I also saw them in a small club the rocked it. Complete with handstands on the keyboard. This we got to meet and talk to them. Great job. Peace love 8888
OMG- one of my favorite songs from my favorite band!!! It’s amazing to see the younger generation have such appreciation for iconic material!! Bravo to them!!!
So great to hear young people playing awesome music like this. Their generation has so much awful music right now it gives me hope that some are keeping the flame of Rock burning! Scary thing is, I'm much older and I used to play this song when I was the same age as this band!
Young people keeping rock alive🔥🔥🤘Gotta love it. ❤
It’s refreshing to see youngsters playing some classic rock like this, great job 👏🤩🤩🤩
It's so good to see the younger generation who appreciates and plays classic rock and roll
The passing of the torch, from one generation to the next... love it.
I think in this case it's a couple generations... That tune was released 47 years ago...
@@joemama22 Leftoverture 1976 I think.

If they keep this momentum going....Rock is in great hands!!!!
Totally awesome and so very tight playing a difficult tune. Kansas Rocks and so do you!!

Probably one of the toughest songs to cover. They did awesome!
There is hope for the future. This band proves it
One of my favorites and best songs ever made. Great job.
Great job. I've been playing this song for 30 years, and I know what a challenge it is to learn. It's great to see young people covering this timeless music!

One of my all time favorite songs. They did it justice
Great job. Does this classic rock era son proud.
Have a safe and prosperous tour.
Singer gets the headline, guitars do all the work!
Shes rockin that bass guitar 😊
Excellent performance. The beginning harmonies were awesome.
Freakin' amazing for such young kids !!!
You guys really rock 🙂
I was age 16 when Kansas released this song in 1976, and it remained an all time favorite for me ever since.

Lol! 50 years of playing and you cant play a kansas song? Hang it up.

Serious talent,,,great work....Wow...
Wow, they're great! You can't see the bass player, but she's killin' this difficult bass part.
The stage there is so small! Yes she's an amazing bass player
I scrolled down looking for a comment like this because I thought the exact same thing.
I agree, and can’t stop watching the guitar player on the far right, with the Gibson ES-335, who never actually plays it. He slides his hand up and down the neck, and every once in a while sings a word. Odd
I graduated high school when this song came out you guys did a magnificent job 👏 two thumbs up for you thank you for sharing

Too bad we couldn't see the girl playing bass's left hand! She was killing it!
Bass player is so good. Don’t hide her in the back. Also, love the keyboardist’s smile and personality. This band is fantastic. Makes me happy. I’m 53. I know good music.
