Not only is this really useful, but the care you have taken to ensure that every step is explained clearly is really inspiring. You set a really high bar when it comes to tutorials.
The canvas size should reflect the size of your image. So if your image is 1000x500, than your canvas should also be that size. But also keep in mind that you should be designing for the device you plan on distributing your app to. The apps you make with App Inventor distros usually have a max size of 10-20 MB. So if you're using images that are waaaaay too large for a phone, you'll easily eat up that 20 MB really quickly
To answer your question, it's important that you understand how Alignments/Width/Height work Horizontal Arrangement - does exactly what the name says. Any component you place in this container will be aligned horizontally Vertical Arrangement - does exactly what the name says. Any component you place in this container will be aligned vertically Horizontal/Vertical SCROLL Arrangement - does exactly what the name says. Width & Height refer to the width and height of the container (which could be the Screen, or a Layout Component) Visualize the design in your head. Think about what you want your design to look like, and draw "boxes" around each section For Example: The main content is one giant box that should appear above your menu, which is a rectangular shape at the bottom of the screen. - The top container's HEIGHT should be set to Fill Parent. (You can set the width to whatever you want it to be). This would be where you put all of your content. I would recommend using a Vertical Arrangement for your content. - The bottom container's height should be a percentage or fixed pixel amount. I would recommend using a Horizontal Arrangement for the menu. You can play around with the height. Essentially, if you're visualizing this in your head, the top portion (content) should take up ~90% of the screen's height, and the bottom portion (menu) should take up ~10% of the screen's height. Since the top portion's height is set to Fill Parent, that means you can make the menu whatever size you want, and the top portion will adjust itself accordingly; and this also means that the menu will always be at the bottom of the screen.
@@PixiiBomb First Thank you. I only found the appybuilder website after seeing this video. I got the menu working using this video and just changing a few things. My biggest problems seem to be I'm putting in images that I want them to be able to zoom into. (IE map's or images of Exel tables.) If you have some advice or tutorials that will push me in the right direction thank you. I can move this over to forms if you would like.
Say you have a moving image that appears from right moving left and disappear when it reaches the end at left, like the old game flappy bird with the tubes. How do you do that ?
Hey there Marcus, I think someone made a tutorial for Flappy Bird many years ago. Try searching "flappy bird app inventor" (App Inventor is the original distro, so there are usually more tutorials using that platform)
If you hover over the video , there should be a Settings Icon (it looks like a little cog wheel) next to CC. The subtitles are in English by default, but the Settings Icon should have an option to auto-translate. I believe you can auto-translate to Indonesian.

thank you so much

Great video! You´re a pro. Easy explanations and fast enough. Keep doing this very necesary videos
Quick question how do you make it vertical and horizontally scroll able image with 3 buttons on the bottom?
To answer your question, it's important that you understand how Alignments/Width/Height work
Horizontal Arrangement - does exactly what the name says. Any component you place in this container will be aligned horizontally
Vertical Arrangement - does exactly what the name says. Any component you place in this container will be aligned vertically
Horizontal/Vertical SCROLL Arrangement - does exactly what the name says.
Width & Height refer to the width and height of the container (which could be the Screen, or a Layout Component)
