You can use the satay sauce not only for your satay skewers, but it goes well as a dipping sauce for any other barbeque meat or vegetables and even with plain rice! Wow super fantastic yummy recipe Thank U so much 🙏👍👌🤩😋🤗
Thank you ☺️
Thanks for the recipe. U can put the peanuts in a towel or jute bag n rub them vigorously.
Thank you…that’s an excellent idea 😊
My mom also told me to rub the peanuts (just grab a handful then rub them vigorously) then put them in the mesh food cover (i'm not sure if that's a thing in malay) then sieve the skin to the ground (not inside the house of course) but I hate that method so I just peel the peanuts one by one 😂. It's really hard on your back if you have to stand for such a long time to peel the peanuts!
Thanks for sharing this @thinv1 I’m glad I wasn’t the only one doing it this way. I tried doing it one at a time and it takes too long. How about sit down. Watch the TV while peeling the skin one by one 😂 less painful on your feet. That’s what I usually do if it takes time to peel something in bulk 😂 Cheers, Victor
Thanks so much for the recipe. I really love how you explain every steps clearly. Will make it this week!
You’re welcome @Kwang Kizz…glad you love this video and going to try it out. Cheers, Victor

wow, that looks so nice. I was only thinking the other day how I would like to make some peanut sauce. There was small cafe here (Cambodian) making this which was a must visit for many years.
Thanks @Peter Tattam..I’ve been to Cambodia a long time ago but can’t remember if I’ve tried their local satay sauce version. It will be interesting to know the difference in tastes. Cheers, Victor
Love the tour on your way to the Asian Grocery Store . Thanks for sharing
You are welcome @Lyn Tan…glad you enjoyed that little trip in the video 😊 Cheers, Victor
After watching a couple videos, I have suggestion with garlic. It's going into the blender, so I wouldn't peel or chop it. Use a garlic press; it's so fast and easy if it needs to be reloaded a few times.
If you keep it in a glass jar, how long can it last?
I’ve kept it in the fridge for a couple of weeks, and in the freezer for a couple of months. But don’t reheat it over and over again to restore in the fridge. Best kept in smaller amount in separate jars. Take out what you want to use. Once reheated, try and use it up. If not, try and use up within 2-3 days.
What is this sauce use for? I just saw your video.very yummy recipes. I love it. I want try all of recipes 😮
Thank you for your nice comment @Vadivalakee Lingam This is a dipping sauce for “satay”. It is a Malay word that refers to meat in a skewer cooked over flaming charcoals, and served with a spiced peanut dipping sauce. You can also use this sauce to flavour a stir fry dish. It is just as good and tasty. Cheers, Victor
@@foodtripwithvictor Thanks Victor. I also thought so. My friends friend makes yummy noodles and she uses a sauce closer to like this but I am not sure. So please let me know what kind of sauce she mixes with that noodles. Please let me know the name of the sauce if you know. She uses bokchoy and tofu. But it’s okay for non vegetarians too.
Your recipes are very good and very unique. You are very talented.
@@vadivalakeelingam2100you could do that with this sauce too - it’s very versatile. I have it on so many things! Even fried eggs
Hainanese chicken rice next please :)
Hi @TheBusMoon!…I have done an earlier video sharing my home version Hainanese chicken rice, ruclips.net/video/LQH-X7yD6O0/видео.html…hope you like it. Cheers, Victor
Thanks for this Victor. You explain how to make this peanut sauce really well, I feel confident I can make it. :)
You are welcome @Made by You and I. Hope you have fun making it and better still enjoy tasting the peanut sauce 😋😊 Cheers Victor
Love ❤ this video. Instructions simple to follow . Thanks
Thank you @Lyn Tan..for your feedback Cheers, Victor
Looks, nice and no coconut milk. I bet you could educate us on recipes with or without it or if its just a white thing lol.
Ha ha...@Steve R. Some people do add coconut milk. it is fine. Not a white thing. Some people even use the peanut butter from the supermarket that you use to spread on your toast. I learnt how to eat peanut butter strawberry jam from a hosted American family when I was in US. Since then, I am hooked on peanut butter jam sandwich! But I won't use a jar peanut butter to make my peanut sauce. Ha ha. Cheers, Victor
Hi Mr Khoo, I'm so glad to have recently found your channel. Thank you so much for the excellent explanations in all your videos. I'm wondering if you have time to make a video on how to make Pandan Coconut lian goh (Chinese New Year rice cake). I can't find anyone doing that yet. Lots of love from Canada 🙏❤️🥰.
Thanks for your lovely feedback @HuaChenyu forever. Glad to hear from Canada and having you on my channel. I wish I can make lian goh. Sorry. It’s hard when we live overseas craving for food we grew up eating. Do you get the chance to go back for CNY? I’m back in Penang now for CNY. See if I can post some photos for you. Cheers, Victor
@Foodtrail with Victor Khoo That's so great that you get to spend new years in such lovely festive place. We wish to visit Penang one day. We are 2nd & 3rd gen of Chinese descendants here. My hubby still has family overseas. Pre-pandemic we would try to spend CNY overseas. It's all good with lian goh, lol. We wish you and family a very Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous Year 2022. Thanks for replying my message 😊🙏🎊🐯🎋🧧🥂
@@huachenyuforever4882 thanks for sharing. I wish you and your family a prosperous, healthy and happy Chinese New Year ahead “Kong Xi Fatt Chai” or in my Hokkien dialect “Keong Hee Huat Chai”
I always thought that Malaysian satay sauce had coconut milk like the Thai one. Also can I use any chilli... i have a feeling I would like it hotter so I'm wondering if Scotch bonnet wouldn't ruin the flavour
Hi @Mukhtar Albahlani..some families do add coconut milk in making the satay sauce. As for Scotch bonnet chili pepper..I haven’t used it before so I wouldn’t know the answer. However from reading some articles on the net, it is extremely hot 🥵 . As you know in cooking, sometimes we need to adjust to suit our own palate and tastes and what’s available locally. I hope you will try it and substitute with the chili peppers and tell me what you think. Cheers, Victor
@@foodtripwithvictor I will, Thank you for answering me 😊

Satay peanut sauce from scratch - thank you so much!
You are welcome @Maggie Brown…hope you like the recipe if you made it. Cheers, Victor
Pure heathenism here, but ever tried Peanut Butter to make a peanut sauce? I have, I liked it, but I doubt it is up to your standards.
I just love seeing the sauce crack or split the oil on top....I could drink it lol
🤣🤣🤣…no I haven’t. Although I know others who do that as a short cut version, and I guess depends on individual preference and taste, I was told it is good. Guess you enjoy Asian cooking Matt 😋
I use a fan to remove the skins (outside) they blow away! I also do this when preparing storing some garden goodies!
@@foodtripwithvictor if you use a high quality crunchy roasted peanut butter - it comes out really delicious! I still roast up some extra whole nuts for texture to crush and add those are garnish.
I think what I make it more a gado gado style - it has coconut cream too. Very delicious.
I’ll have to try this from scratch hainanese style recipe - looks great
@@micah1754 …thanks for sharing your tips on how you would make your satay sauce, similar to gado gado sauce 😋. Cheers, Victor
No sugar?
Hi @B.A.ROSE…yes, got sugar…add either palm sugar or cane sugar or brown sugar..and a bit of salt to your own taste. It’s in the video. Cheers, Victor
