Sorry that you got swindled.
About four years ago the wife and I went though three contractors at our home and it was pretty much the same outcome as your experience. In the end I learned to do any renovations on my own even though I work a regular job and feel burnt out.
Also I love your rant and I totally agree. My wife were born in the 60's and cannot believe what has happened to the world... a bloody mess. We just stay close to our children, grandchildren and quality friends.
We need a dam time machine to go back to the 70's and 80's

Not sure what the tipping fees are in Lincoln but in the Midlands I'm being charged £170 per ton to tip as I do waste removal. I don't take soil or rubble as there is no point because its cheaper for the customer to get a skip if someone is quoting cheaper then most likely it will be fly tipped

I feel for you both Martin, myself and my wife Sam were booked to go on our first cruise and have had it cancelled twice mate, booked with Thomas cook to go on P&O flagship Iona,who went belly up thank god for P&O cruises who took over payments, we are booked to go next year now! My partner has two lads with autism they are in special care homes now they have grown up, she didn't see them for nearly a year . Alot of heart ache and tears during the lockdown, I know how Sharon feels, hopefully you will be on that plane and going to see them soon
Here in Fuerteventura. We have no one really from the Uk since last March 2020. With my mobility scooter hire business here. I had one job in October last year. My next hire for a mobility scooter was last Saturday. A Italian gentleman. That’s it. Every time someone books with us. They have to cancelled for one reason or other. So you & Sharon are not the only ones. Living on a holiday island with hardly anyone coming here on holiday.
Is really hard. But just got to get on with it. Hope you get to see Your daughter soon.

He was 100% unlicensed waste disposal. Just another here today gone tomorrow fly tipper likely dumped the rubbish in a field/wood/lane somewhere. Probably also taking the furlough money on the side and didn't want to be seen on camera/youtube doing work so he ghosted you.

You've done a ton of work so far this year, and using your time very well, so wouldn't be too down about anything much, you'll get round to the Trotter van soon enough, though the cancelled holiday is irritating to say the least, however we'll be out of this Covid nightmare soon enough now. Also, you're bang on about the processed foods, of any description, 'healthy' ones, or otherwise, it's just a vicious circle to keep eating them, just slows the metabolism, all to do with insulin resistance, absolutely, and especially bread, imo. The biggest problem is that most of these foods are highly addictive, just go through the shelves in any supermarket and with an open, clear mind, all you'll see is poison everywhere. They mean not to make it easy to break away and genuinely eat healthier, no profit in it for them, people wouldn't eat/buy nearly as much if the balance was as it should be. And good quality cuts of meat, beef and lamb, portioned and in moderation, is fine, once you get back into the routine, and make your own burgers and sausages for any BBQ in that lovely garden of yours, and above all enjoy the fruits of your labour, well deserved 👌
