We used end cut v groove birch for a feature wall it was absolutely perfect... it has 2ft, 4ft, and 6ft peices you alternate between not allowing seams to match and when it's done you have a v groove frame all the way around each board
So glad you got through the inspection, was a bit worried that the insulation would not make the grade due to the joints not being taped as I have mentioned before, but hey, you've done it, and now the cladding can go forth. Well done to the both of you.
🌟🌟CONGRATULATIONS RYAN AND SARAH!!🌟🌟 Such wonderful news!! You are now going to see the house really coming together and fast! I am so happy for you both! Just shows that you two work well as a team and are determined to succeed! All the very best for the ship lapping! Go get ‘em tigers!!! Big hugs!
Thank you for always supporting us and giving us the BEST comments. It's so exciting to see a portion of the house in its "finished" state. Makes us both very happy and excited.
@@OneFootOfftheGrid I’m so glad that you are getting excited!! You deserve to be that way for the rest of the build! Each job you do will add a new piece to the home puzzle. As for supporting you guys I am very glad to! It’s nice to see good people succeeding in their endeavours. I can’t wait for more videos and your beautiful smiles as you work!! Big hugs!
So excited for you. Getting to be able to put up the ship lap is a huge milestone. It's got to change the feel of things. Being able to work in air conditioning is going to be nice. Wishing you the best of success as you continue. Stay safe
Congratulations! Did/will you also do blocking in the bathrooms where you put towel bars? I wish I would have done that. I also need blocking in my closet so we can put in a new shelving unit.
We haven't put blocking up in the bathroom yet, but it is a great idea. I've had to replace too many wall sheetrock wall anchors in my life that have held in towel bars. Hopefully we do it right the first time and then we won't have to mess with it ever again.
I would use a wooden smooth story pole for marking outlets rather than measuring with a tape. I know professionals would laugh at this, but to me it is less to be mistakes. Think about it.
We actually marked a lot of the outlets instead of measuring. There was one location where we couldn't fit new piece in because of our plumbing drain so in that case we had to measure.
So impressive!! The inspector said your work was “Golden”!!! I would be terrified for every new project and inspection.

Congratulations on a big leap forward. How long are those pieces of shiplap you unbundled?
They are 14' long. So a bit hard to manage but also nice because we don't have as many butt joints.
Nice work!
Thank you!

What do you mean by mini splits? I'm wanting to learn how to do this. No carpentry experience at all.
It’s a heat pump with no ducting. Heats and cools your house.
Why are the logs covered inside?
Don't forget to write your names and let the kids write on the walls before you cover with ship lap.
❤😊❤😊❤😊
What is that epoxy for.
Great work but it’s tongue & grove not shiplap keep going strong !
The wall boards are actually shiplap. Our ceiling boards are T&G.
..please check each piece of wood. It's so easy to adjacent planks from a log, with similar knots showing. It's not a good look
Thanks for the tip Pete. I hadn't thought of that.
v groove not shiplap
We actually are using shiplap on the walls and t&g on the ceiling.
