To Ryomen Sukuna, an entertaining death is more important than a boring life and while I wouldn't recommend being like Sukuna, that's not a bad mindset to have. The mindeset of a calamity indeed. I hope we get a backstory soon. He feels so close to being a Masterpiece Villian we're just missing a lil something.

I would offer an explanation as to why Sukuna might have helped the two girls. Assuming there was no conflict with the binding vow with Fake Geto, Sukuna might have accepted it as an offering like a deity would. But no they decided to dangle a finger out as payment, like he was for-hire. That is not how you treat a god. That is a serious offence.

what makes sukuna dangerous is the way he learning, he always learning and curious, his aptitude is insane understanding the art not only jujutsu but the combar itself, for example when he fought gojo he used mahoraga to copy and adapt limitless which he is trying to study gojo limitless through makora, and copying makora existence cut by only seeing it which is insane .
The reason why he does it, is to posses the body he has to break down the spirit of those he possesses. So he make sure to attack things that the target cheerishes. With uji it human life. With megumi it was his relationships.
@shoc71 i think he resents uji because he served as a jail and he mommentarily managed to control sukuna. It must of never happened before. So with megumi he started day one by making it his mission to kill gojo and then his sister. He breaks down their will to live or resist his will

DBZ came close with Imperfect Cell, Naruto's didn't click with me, and (it's my opinion, but i know people are gonna hate me) Bleach's villains didn't really give me that dread factor. I think they have written sukuna perfectly. There are subtle hints throughout that he just wants respect. Everyone wants to kill him or control him in some way so he dares them to try. From GOW atreus asks of its always acceptable to kill those trying to kill you. Kratos says yes. Which is true. Sukuna kills anything that believes has power or control over him which is what atreus asks kratos but to an extreme. He even has killed yuji who actually has control over him at that point. And sukuna still healed him (because megumi intrigued him) but still healed him nonetheless. Edit: sukuna is the embodiment of true freedom but in being completely free he is not respected. He doesnt even allow himself to control himself so in lamands terms has no self control.

The problem is when writers make their villains too powerful. At that point they’d rely on a contrivance to defeat them because really, at the current point of the story, how is anyone supposed to stop him? Gojo was probably the sorcerers best bet for a victory.
No that’s not true. He cannot control the slashes on malevolent shrine. He didn’t make it as big as he could. If you meant by controlling the slashes by MS you mean by making the radius 10M or a little smaller, that would be really bad. Imagine Mahoraga just jumps back or tanks slashes like gojo, or higuruma. Malevolent shrine slashes endlessly tho. Plus it’s stated by gojo it’s suppose to be impossible or even harder to do but to make ur DE small or tiny. That only he could really do it because of his Six Eyes and ability to perceive CE. Plus on top of that, Sukuna doesn’t have a barrier with his DE, so you gotta factor in just how big is the shrine. 140m or maybe even 100m or 70m might be fine. Everything smaller though might make using ur DE and that much CE and control wouldn’t be worth using to not kill a couple extra, or only ur designated person ur aiming at.

I just mean that the weird thing about Sukuna is that he is the villain, and he is definitely evil, but what makes his character interesting is that he’s not necessarily doing anything just because it’s evil. Sukuna comes from a time where the type of person he is was much more normalized. In Sukuna’s time, the only thing that mattered was power. So, I’m scenes like the one where he kills the young girls next to Jougo, I perceived it as not necessarily being just because he could kill them. I perceived it more as him seeing them as worthless because they weren’t strong. If they were powerful, they wouldn’t have needed to seek his help. Also they were asking him to go against Kenjaku who he is clearly in league with (not to get too into spoilers). He clearly respected some form of alliance though. And what was that alliance based on at its simplest level? Power. My point is that it’s not JUST because Sukuna is evil. To him Power is practically its own form of politics. When someone shows that they could be powerful in the anime, or manga, Sukuna continually shows interest in those people and is willing to takes the smallest of steps to further their power. Is it for entertainment? Yes, for sure. But it’s also because power and strength are the most important factors in his world, his time, his generation, etc. TLDR: Sukuna isn’t evil just because he’s evil for the sake of it. There’s an overarching logic, and philosophy at play, alliances etc. If Sukuna were JUST evil he would be a much more boring character.
@ArroyoRiver this is my headcannon but Uruame and Sukuna were talking to each other and sort of ignoring Kenjaku when they talked about the bath and stuff. I think sukuna does respect the alliance they have but he doesn't care for kenjaku. I think he's interested in what kenjaku has to offer, which is the curse that will come with the merge of Tengen. I could be wrong but I think sukuna might want to fight it.

Yeah, not every villain has to be super complex. Sometimes a villain who is evil for the sake of evil can be entertaining.

The problem is when writers make their villains too powerful. At that point they’d rely on a contrivance to defeat them because really, at the current point of the story, how is anyone supposed to stop him? Gojo was probably the sorcerers best bet for a victory.
No that’s not true. He cannot control the slashes on malevolent shrine. He didn’t make it as big as he could. If you meant by controlling the slashes by MS you mean by making the radius 10M or a little smaller, that would be really bad. Imagine Mahoraga just jumps back or tanks slashes like gojo, or higuruma. Malevolent shrine slashes endlessly tho. Plus it’s stated by gojo it’s suppose to be impossible or even harder to do but to make ur DE small or tiny. That only he could really do it because of his Six Eyes and ability to perceive CE. Plus on top of that, Sukuna doesn’t have a barrier with his DE, so you gotta factor in just how big is the shrine. 140m or maybe even 100m or 70m might be fine. Everything smaller though might make using ur DE and that much CE and control wouldn’t be worth using to not kill a couple extra, or only ur designated person ur aiming at.

good vid but sukuna isn’t the main villain imo. yes, he does pose the most threat but i would consider kenjaku/geto the main villain bc without them jjk would not exist. there would be no yuji, no plot no nothing. many people fail to realize without him, the series itself doesn’t exist.

I just mean that the weird thing about Sukuna is that he is the villain, and he is definitely evil, but what makes his character interesting is that he’s not necessarily doing anything just because it’s evil.
Sukuna comes from a time where the type of person he is was much more normalized. In Sukuna’s time, the only thing that mattered was power.
So, I’m scenes like the one where he kills the young girls next to Jougo, I perceived it as not necessarily being just because he could kill them. I perceived it more as him seeing them as worthless because they weren’t strong. If they were powerful, they wouldn’t have needed to seek his help. Also they were asking him to go against Kenjaku who he is clearly in league with (not to get too into spoilers). He clearly respected some form of alliance though. And what was that alliance based on at its simplest level? Power.
My point is that it’s not JUST because Sukuna is evil. To him Power is practically its own form of politics.
When someone shows that they could be powerful in the anime, or manga, Sukuna continually shows interest in those people and is willing to takes the smallest of steps to further their power. Is it for entertainment? Yes, for sure. But it’s also because power and strength are the most important factors in his world, his time, his generation, etc.
TLDR: Sukuna isn’t evil just because he’s evil for the sake of it. There’s an overarching logic, and philosophy at play, alliances etc.
If Sukuna were JUST evil he would be a much more boring character.
@ArroyoRiver this is my headcannon but Uruame and Sukuna were talking to each other and sort of ignoring Kenjaku when they talked about the bath and stuff. I think sukuna does respect the alliance they have but he doesn't care for kenjaku. I think he's interested in what kenjaku has to offer, which is the curse that will come with the merge of Tengen. I could be wrong but I think sukuna might want to fight it.
