We all thought traditional animation would be obselete once "Toy Story" premiered. But lately it has found it's way back to modern culture.

Yep and I still like making 2D animated videos and stop motion videos on my youtube channel. I don't like how hard it is to make CGI animated videos.
Glasses will always be relevant because lenses aren’t for everyone and they are a pain to put (not to mention the threat of eye infections) , Lasik or even the bionic eye thing are still expensive and I still think people won’t feel comfortable having their body modified in the long term. In my opinion glasses will always more reliable , simple and practical , and if they fog up , just clean them with your shirt or use antifog ( or just don’t be lazy).
Clean your foggy glasses off on your shirt as you're driving along?? Well, maybe once your car starts driving itself....
That said, too much astigmatism can't be corrected with Lasik and a contact lens that could fix that would be hard to blink over. Affordable bionic is way far off, unfortunately. (A little infrared and ultraviolet vision would be sooooo cool!)
Not to mention reading glasses. Who would want to go into a bathroom and put on contact lenses every time they want to check a label?

Plus-not everyone qualifies for LASIK and I work in a environment not safe for contact lens. Glasses will always be needed.
Zoos will never be obsolete. At the rate animals are going extinct in the wild, they will become even more prevalent, as there will be many animals your kids will only be able to see in zoos. They might be rebranded as conservation parks or something nicer but they will definitely not become obsolete.
Animals are not going extinct at an accelerated rate… human intervention has actually slowed the rate of natural selection/extinction. Most animals in the world are already only going to be seen by our kids in zoos… the vast majority of humans will not be traveling the globe to go on safari to see animals in their natural habitats.
Just a reminder, species go extinct, and come into existence everyday. This has been the way of the world for……. Always….

Habitat parks for endangered and threatened species. I'd visit a place that called themselves something like that. But there is no need to parade animals around that you could easily find in the wild with a little gumption lol. I don't like going to places like "Southwicks" simply because it's a zoo, and the animals all seem so sad. Cared for, sure. But so sad

We should never go cashless. That's when the government can decide what you can/can't spend your money on. They'll control transactions.
And if you speak up or they don't like you, they might block our bank account which means we can't have a income.

Well that's how we started from in the past. We didn't have cash or gold,we bartered. As in I'll trade you two pounds of grain for one small lamb,it worked until someone around B.C" decided "hey look at this shiny gold mineral,maybe I could use it to get things from others with it"
It was ironic when watching this video online, Rebecca Brayton said when listening to the radio, you can't go more than a couple of songs before the all the commercials. The irony was, her statement was preceded a block of YT ads.

Physical video games should not, and will not, go away. Even in the modern era, we commonly see platform holders shutter stores and remove access to digital games on a daily basis. Game preservationists and collectors will never let that die entirely. Just remember, if you are playing a game digitally, you don't own it - you just own a license to play it. And that license can be revoked.
True, physical copies of games are lendable and resellable, which is why I never buy digital.
I believe physical copies shall stay for a long time, but they will suffer great changes, they’ll probably change from discs to tiny cards or ships that you connect to your console.

if i can get something with ALL the dlc at a bargain price or if it's something free to play/online only, i'm definitely getting it digital. most other games, i'll try to get physical copies, cause you never know when you wanna go back to it in the far future. unfortunately, a lot of physical games as of late will always need a day 1 patch...
I never buy digital. If it's digital, you're right, we don't own it. And if I don't own it, they're not seeing my money, it's as simple as that. If it's digital, it's either torrented or downright ignored. My card will only be used on material games, period.
Given the resistance to GMO anything, I don’t see the world embracing lab-grown meat any time soon.

Physical carts and discs can be lost, but that's the fault of the user. Digital only means the company decides when you stop owning it, thanks to forced obsoletion

Agreed. I'd rather have the option to access all of my favorite music, video games, movies, and books whenever I want. If they break down or get lost fine. At least it didn't go away because some company was done with it or found it inappropriate for everyone in general.
I can never imagine a future without physical keys, to easy to clone digital RFID cards and the like
Well my building do not keys anymore just a chip that open the doors. I guess that how it's going be like in 20 or 30 years. Even cars can be open with phones or finger print nowdays
How are you gonna let other people enter your house when you cant give them your spare key anyway? Give them your password or fingerprint??? At least you can make sure you get the key back and know who has it. That password can find its way to reddit as fast as you give it away
@@daniele4951 i guess you have be there so you can inprint they finger print in the scanner so they can come in anytime or use a phone with a bar code or password. Or they will give you card that need to be scan. A lot of new buildings is having cards and bar codes. With time everything change but not health from some reason. Still don't know why they can improve health problems. I rather see videos about that. They can use keys to make over things that can people. Well I doubt they will do that.
Our apartment needs no key, just our personal pin. The mail/package pick-up also is coded. Keys are so 20th century.

Lot of those things won’t be obsolete, because people still need backups and particularly keys can’t be hacked online, also cash is still used for impulse payments, even physical media is still preferred by collectors, because you don’t need to worry about online connectivity nor censorship like with Netflix and Disney editing their classic movies.
And not all countries are fast enough to catch this change. 1st world countries where the newest tech is within reach, yes....3rd world countries?
@@charliejoson9145 even in those countries, they’re not going to abandon old technology if it’s a lot more reliable than newer tech! Companies like Netflix still has a hard time in those countries because of internet and local issues with the government!
I'm at the key part and I also was like but you forget about hackers getting ways to duplicate a card or hack a passcode. Also I love physical copies of movies and video games along with physical cash because you never know if and when those digital ways get messed up and not work

Yeah I don't really agree with that one. Not everyone wants to use their phones to pay for things. Many will still use cash or cards. And even if that weren't the case, you'd still need something like a wallet to hold things like your license/IDs like the person before me said.
I don't think keys will ever die, as the alternatives you listed rely on electricity. One blackout and everyone is locked in or out.

Physical copies of movies, music, books and storage devices take up space. People living in small spaces might want a digital-only option.

If the digital content is backend up on a flash drive with no way from an outside party to mess with it then that's fine
@@shadowdragonlord2295 But all digital media is at risk of being ripped off. Even When DVDs were a thing, there were bootleggers. It will happen in every format anyway. Jesus, there's cam versions of the Batman movie still floating around online! Not saying it's right but it happens.
I *really* don’t like the whole “cash-free society” deal. To me it not only limits choice, but seems like just some lame thing that they are doing just to be all modern. I still mostly use hard cash because I personally prefer it. At least my wallet can’t suffer from malfunctions or glitches.

They are almost gone already for PC. Digital games are CHEAPER, as there's no physical media that has to be created and shipped all over the planet. Also, stores can keep selling game downloads forever while brick and mortar stores can only sell games that can fit on the shelves.
Actually, Blu-rays and DVDs shouldn't be obsolete because they're still slightly better than streaming because at least you're able to keep certain TV shows and TV show episodes if the streaming services decides to remove them or ban certain episodes
There's also a VERY big difference in bitrate when comparing 4k Blu-Rays and streaming, leading to a significant difference in video and audio quality. Even with internet speeds getting better and better by time I don't see anyone streaming 100Gb worth of data for a single movie any time soon.
This comment! I have regretted not buying some of my favorite movies on DVD. The movies on streaming services is good but I'm the kind of person who repeats watching my favorite movies and streaming services removes movies after a certain amount of time.

True, I have plenty of movies that will most likely get banned pretty soon (if they arent already ).
My biggest concern with many of the items replacing “old versions”, is the steadily growing heavy reliance on electricity.
Until the flow of electricity can be guaranteed beyond a reasonable doubt and with absolute certainty I will alway keep the “older versions” as my personal guarantee of accessibility.

I have a collection of dvd’s that im still growing for this reason. Yeah I could pay for this movie on a streaming service to buy but is it actually mine? The only way my dvd leaves me is if it’s stolen or I lose it 🤣

as a glasses wearer I can say that glasses will not disapear for centuries... operations are scary and lenses need so much more care and cause so much more trouble than glasses.
Also, operations aren't possible for people like me, who's prescription has changed multiple times over the years. Agreed that contact lenses are also too much of a faff if you only need glasses for certain tasks/distances.
@@trevorhawkins3873 I need to wear glasses all the time and it is so much easier to clean glasses like every 3 days than clean lenses every day. You don't need to wash hands before putting glasses on. And if something happens in the middle of the night, who has time to put the lenses in???
I'll stick to glasses. Still rather afraid of getting my eyes lasered or putting contact lenses on. Plus, one should not wear contact lenses when in the lab.
Same, I use to say “oh I can’t get contacts I have an astigmatism” now I just say “I don’t like contacts” lol
I don't like contacts either. Even if you are really good at putting them in, it still takes longer than glasses. And dry eyes and if you forget to take them out it hurts the next day, etc.

I didn't like that painful problematic scene in Disney Princess Diaries 2001 where Paolo breaks her glasses and forces her to wear contact lenses. Disney Plus needs to either remove that broken glasses scene or else put a label warning on it.
SD cards/storages for cameras will never go out. So many photographers and videographers need it. Also cloud storage services are now charging a monthly fee...and ppl don't want to pay that.

I'm proud of my eyeglasses and I won't wear contact lenses or get eye surgery and I'll rebel against contact lenses and eye surgery. Just look at the problematic hairdresser scene in Disney Princess Diaries 2001 where Paolo breaks Mias Glasses and forces her to wear contact lenses. It kind of ruined my enjoyment of Disney Princess Diaries 2001 although I did like the story. But it was made over 20 years ago.
If there was a problematic scene I would cut out in Princess Diaries 2001 it would be the broken glasses scene hairdresser scene. Better yet Disney Plus should remake Princess Diaries as a TV show or movie and make it more woke where Mia rebels against contact lenses and is allowed to be herself and wear glasses as a princess and where paparazzi people get what they deserved for harassing Mia.

I can imagine some sort of new physical device from blu-ray but there is absolutely a want for physical copies. I’m one of those people! I generally stream to see if I like a film then purchase a copy if I do.

Cds were actually making a comeback last yr. So has vinyl, and print media in a way. They said print was dead ten years ago and hear we are with boutique labels and special editions. Everything else I agree

I’ve been building up my CD collection. Since the music on it is master quality, I can rip them however I want for the purposes I want. I use 320kbps MP3 for portable on my phone, while also having FLAC for home use on a Plex server.
I still buy CDs, I like having physical media plus it sounds better in my car than my iPod
I still prefer a physical key. Key cards are useless if the card reader loses power.

A metal key is still more reliable than a key card. My last trip to Vegas the previous person decided for shits and giggles to mess with the key reader,so no one could gain access to the room. Not even the cleaning staff and because so,the room was still a mess.

Laser eye surgery isn't an option for some people, and if you didn't know it's also not a permanent solution. You have to keep getting it redone every couple of years.
As a someone with little to no trust in any organization especially the for profit ones, and somewhat of a prepper minded woman (and an absolute digital prepper/hoarder nutjob coupled with a privacy geek), I said "nope" out loud to at least half of that list lol. Basically, the implications in this video are that for the "ease" and "progress" of daily stuff and entertainment we should replace old and proven stuff and relinquish our material reality and let whatever entities or the electrical gods decide whether or not we can access something (even our home???) or use a service. Nah-ah. Having both physical and alternative options, sure, why not. But replacing? With the added bonus (/s) of giving away our power and ownership over what we spend, use and in what conditions/when? Are people that far into lalaland that they wouldn't even protest if they were plugged and farmed Matrix style? 👀

This list just proves how bad some technology is. What happens when computers crash? Meat farms provide means of living to the farmers. Brick and mortar stores provide jobs. What happens when the digital lock on your house loses power? Some of these things are bad.

This over reliance on tech/electricity can't be a good thing. Physical media will never die, keyless entry will never be massively adopted, maps and cash will always have a place.
I buy games physically whenever possible. Also blu-rays, especially for 4K, since streaming simply can’t reach that kind of throughput. But also, they can’t be edited or removed at the whim of a “service”.

Top 10 Forgotten TV Shows That Are Not on any Streaming Services
The small stores in my small town has a minimum purchase of $5 to use a card. Our city government offices charge $2.50 to use a card. So I use cash. At my former job, locks were changed to electronic about 20 years ago. This included the server room where the server for the locks was located. You can guess what happened. I enjoyed the 2 days off since we couldnt get in the offices.

Many of these would rely on electricity for access if they became obsolete, like keys and media storage. I think it's one reason why they won't really become obsolete any time soon, because we need an alternative way to access them if the power goes out or a server crashes.

You know that the 'cloud' is still physical media, right? It's just owned by someone else. Most of these are great EXCEPT for the track record of questionable security. The number of critical systems dependent on cell phone app and OS security is a bit scary when you think about it.

Is it? The server is down, there's no internet connection, where's the physical media then? On the shelves of people owning DVDs and Blu Rays and alike.
@@marikothecheetah9342 Well, yes. Things are still on physical media - whether you have access to it is a completely different question. For specificity, Cloud solutions are generally not on 'A' server, they are on clusters of servers. While the possibility of loss of Internet connection on the part of the provider does exist, these systems are (again, generally) very robust and redundant, and face significant fees for failing Service Level Agreements for outages. The point I was making is that stuff on the cloud is still on someone's computer, just not yours. As far as physical media for movies, etc., I'm with you. Streaming services are too fickle with what they carry or drop, so if I want to ensure I can watch something whenever I want to, I still get it on blu-ray.
@@billlee2726 It so happens that I work in telecommunications company where we get around 300 requests daily for remote support, or physical exchange of the part that failed. If it weren't for a job like mine, or rather the engineers services 24/7 the issues would be much more noticeable.
And even though technology is improving I still think that storing data independently in more points than just one (i.e. cloud, spread across servers, that might lose connection to each other and you are left with half of the data, for example) with complete sets of data is just a better precaution, if something really bad happens. But it's me, a person, who has a bit of fatalism in her. :D

@@differentlydifferent And my point was exactly how long does it take for a map to no longer be accurate? Not very long. So what, he's buying new maps every year? Some GPS systems have the exact same issue. Some don't get updates regularly unless you pay for them. Smart phones are definitely better than any map or stand alone GPS. Certainly areas are notorious for being inaccurate, for instance, California and Washington DC. DC I think is intentional.

Real meat isn't going anywhere, considering that people still hunt, and need to, for crops and other reasons, there will be still be regular meat. Maybe not the huge commercial meat farms, which I totally understand being an issue. But smaller farms like those of people I know, most likely won't go away. Just the "real" meat may become more expensive.
Brings to mind a quote from Mass Effect 2.

Some areas don't have enough soil to be farmed, but animals can graze on the plants growing there and produce food for humans .

@@margaret91 , the longest lived cultures eat balanced meat, fish, &/or insects. It is impossible for people living in arid climates to sustainably produce plant-only food. Reliance on a global food grid is dangerous for local communities & environmentally destructive on a planetary level.. If you live in a climate where you can locally sustainably support yourself on plants only, good on ya!
There's no way to sell your games if you buy digital. Hope avid gamers don't fall in that trap... also, digital copies should be cheaper but they are not.
I don't completely agree about some of these items. There will always be some need for paper and pens/pencils. Even if they have to resort to using the boxes products come in for their paper. Also, sd cards are not going anywhere soon. Those of us who prefer our media, etc. securely on our devices will want it removable from device to device. And physical media? Someone will want this, if only to preserve their copy to keep it away from the woke police. Besides, look at records. They're back, to some extent. As for wallets, the only way that changes is if criminal activity goes cashless.
On top of all of that, this list presumes that there will never be some kind of extinction event or something that sends us back to the dark ages, like serious EMP event.
some extent, that is the word. Not mass produced as it used to be.Most people today don't even have TV, yet alone any devices. The only way it will survive is because of nostalgics and the nostalgia factor they bring, not because they need it..

Keyless cars? Just press the start button? Uh, no. You still have to carry a fob that transmits the RF signal to unlock doors and start the engine. So, in other words, you are replacing a slim metallic key with a pudgy plastic fob. Great tradeoff! No, wait...

Probably worded incorrectly but most vehichles produced the last few years are entirely keyless. I believe the last five vehichles my parents have purchased have been totally keyless.

Newspapers and cable tvs are going to be obsolete, but the challenge for consumers will be subscriptions.
physical games , printed newspapers and physical wallets will not die out as long as there are still people around who have never grown up with digital copies and digital money..
There is an upside to using passwords: if you get disfigured in an accident, the scanners might not work properly and keep you locked out, plus, who else has had an issue with the fingerprint scanner on their phone or other device not scan your fingerprint keeping you locked out of your device?
If you're ok with losing your privacy, then you have no spine. That kind of overreach brings us one step closer to Orwellian thought policing in every aspect of society that we are already seeing on big tech platforms.
Well that's how life in North Korea,early China and Russia was like. The government had wires on its citizens and once they had confirmation that someone was talking ill about said government. They'd disappear without a trace.

I do like to carry some physical cash but I also I have a bank card but I'm never going to do the things like apple pay or the other services that let u stick ur phone up to a screen to pay

The last time I bought a CD....2 weeks ago. In fact I got six of them. A Van Halen complete studio albums box set. And these blow away streaming files by a million long shots. Vinyl LPs are still selling in the millions. CDs are making more than a modest comeback. Streaming is a sick addiction. And not all of what's streamed sounds natural and warm. Loudness War. watery ultra compressed crap.
I really like supporting my favorite artists as well. Plus theres nothing like seeing your collection grow or listening to their entire discography in release order.

I believe physical media should and I really mean should NEVER go obsolete. The irony of watch mojo saying digital is better then physical because someone could accidently lose the disk. With digital you can too. The main different is with digital any service can just take away the movie or game off their platform. Physical losing something is just the people who owns the disk loses it. So if you never lose the disk or it never gets scratch you have it basically forever. Their is a reason why I hate and would never get PlayStation Now/Xbox Game Pass. Also streaming services like Netflix are getting more expensive every year and the competition of different streaming services increasing over time. Another thing with physical media is the enjoyment of collection games/movies and having them on display which you can't with digital media. Been collection some Blue-Ray movies that last few years and I have a nice small collection going. Some of them I can only watch this way unless I pay for multiple different streaming services. So it is nice to have these movies in my collection. I am also the type of guy not interested in a lot of the new original shows like on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I am more here for the classics and the childhood memories.

While I would certainly like to be able to go without glasses for good: I am pretty sure there are people, like me, for whom laser surgery isn't an option. I can wear contacts lenses; but not everyone can. I am intrigued by the ocular implant, though, provided it is safe. I also still buy CDs though and bought some as recently as this past weekend.
I thought, laser surgery is easier than glasses?
@@SerenaTaliEllis I am certain it is. However, I didn't qualify for the surgery and was unable to get it, which sucks, because being active duty, I would have gotten it for free.

Keyless locks and doors are a lot more vulnerable to tampering/entry than a key (though a good lock difficult to pick are difficult to come by).
I like having physical items like discs, keys, and cash because you never know when something will happen to the more up to date computer technology

Shouldn't we be concerned with what artificial meats will do to our bodies in the long run? It will be full of chemicals. Maybe after eating it for 10 or 20 years it will cause major health issues!

There's no way much of this stuff will ever go away. Keys will be around forever, radio will never go away, there will always be a need for physical maps or printed out directions when your GPS isn't working or you don't have cell service, physical memory will always be around, gasoline will be used forever because it's a form of energy that is easy to store and transfer to other forms of energy. They said we would run out of oil in 50 years in the 1950's. Well it's been 70 years since then and we keep finding more oil.
Physical media will always be useful. Backup in case internet is down or an EMP is launched.
call me old school but physical media will always top dlc..well when it comes to video games cuz while I am a little nostalgic about CDs and Tapes no way I'd want to go back to carrying around a bunch of CDs and Tapes...I'm 36 and i haven't used a wallet since i was a teenager so they been obsolete for me.. I remember working at DirecTV for a few years 2015-2018 and there was so many customers who'd call in and be like "who uses cable anymore" or "i got Netflix I don't need your dish"...i like cable tv but i have no use for it anymore and really I'm surprised there's still as many customers for cable and dish buy yeah eventually it seems they won't survive and don't forget PayPhones ...even in 2002 when Phone Booth hit pay phones were rapidly disappearing and it's pretty much impossible to find one that actually works nowadays..I'm truly surprised they even still exist

You listed wireless chargers as a reason cords and chargers will go away. How do you think those work? They still have a cord that goes from them to a plug at the wall and are quite literally a charger.

When they stop physical games, is the day I no longer purchase new games.
While not my reason to buy them, parents will always want a physical titles for their kids, so they can trade the game back or sell it to another parent for their kid.
Money isn't going away, because certain transactions (especially ones less legal) practically require it. Imagine paying your date in Vegas with a debit card.

I beg to differ about paper. Crafters would riot if manufacturers stopped making paper.
One would have thought that film for cameras would have disappeared by now, but it hasn't.
Most things need a back up, so I believe that we will move forward and have new norms but you need a plan B. My 84yo father got locked out of his Lexus, the fob battery was dead I had to meet him and show him how to use the key. Technology is amazing but has limits just like everything else.
Going cashless is really a bad idea. It would inconvenience the homeless. And also there's those pesky transaction fees.
Also, people should really reconsider physical media. Your favorite programs can be delisted on a whim.
As for keys, and anything else connected to the internet, once the power goes out, you're locked out of your property.
I think glasses will be staying. Not many people are compatible for lasik or contact lenses.
Some comments talk about the fact many people still like to use this items so they won’t go away. I agree but not in without adding something. This items won’t be gone so soon, but they’ll probably will. Remember that next generation may not even care about what we consider precious today. I still love my physical copies, I’m a collector myself. But I’m not blind, I know what future generations can do. It will always happen as it did with us compared to our grandparents.

I will *never* stop buying physical copies of the games I love. I might not always buy it at stores, but I still prefer it that way and will do so whenever possible.
I love tuning in when opera houses broadcast live performances on internet radio. paper Maps will always come in handy when your iPhone battery runs out or you don't have a signal. I still have a portable DVD player, dvds, cd's and external hard drive (in case of emergency).
