- Wildlife officials dropped food for animals in wildfire-ravaged forests in New South Wales, Australia to help them survive in burnt-out land.
In a mission dubbed Operation Rock Wallaby, national park staff used helicopters to air drop thousands of kilos of carrots and sweet potatoes to brush-tailed rock wallabies in remote areas of New South Wales state.

Because summer extends from December to February in Australia, with fire season typically peaking in late January or early February. This is absolutely not caused by humans, absolutely not. The last shot is misleading. Those carrots weren't dropped from a helicopter, they were placed by hand. The carrots were bundled and not scattered as if thrown from a helicopter.
@@RG_77 That's what I was thinking..but perhaps that was in an area they could easily access and they set the camera up to see how many animals would show up. The air drop for harder to reach areas so any animals foraging would be able to find it. Just a thought.

Don't need to plant trees. The Australian bush has adapted to bushfires over 1000s of years. You will hardly be able to tell that a fire has been through there in a few years because it recovers so fast. Some species actually need fire to germinate.
the snow gums require 20+ years to mature unfortunately there were fires in 2003, 17 years ago so there is a large possibility that large swaths of snow gum forest is now going to stay dead
