Exactly the way I would've done it! Minus the getting pulled over by the cops! 😁
You got an awesome channel buff. I wish that more people would like and subscribe. cuz I think when new people find your channel and start watching they're really going to like what they see if you ask me. I love this old travel all. I really love the way it sounds and the way it runs. And now I can't wait to see what it looks like.
@@michaelstone8882 thanks for the kind words, feel free to share it out
Enjoyed this episode ty
Hey Buff, that is a Saginaw steering column. The key turns and pushes a metal rod down the top of the column and slides the actual switch, which is mounted on top of the column lower down. You can drop the column and remove the switch from the column to clean the contacts on the slide or just replace the switch. They are less than $20 on rock auto.
Yeah he's right,ih, and even dodge believe it or not jeep too had used what they commonly called a gm based🎉 steering column no it actually a Saginaw steering column widely used in gm vehicle but it is not actually a gm steering column but a Saginaw steering column adapted to gm , Chrysler, dodge, jeep,ih and Plymouth vehicles
Going down the slippery slope of doing things the right way.
Not too far that way yet.
Looking good my friend👍
Awesome video brother. Looking good. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
@@timwindsor03 thanks Tim
Daaaaaaaaaang Buff, That thing is gonna be King of the campground when you get done!
@@Brian-Gribble that’s the idea
I'm so glad I was awake to watch this one as I wanted to see what you had planned since you had mentioned it in the live. Hopefully it turns out the way you want it. I've done the same thing with the oil catch pan and made an absolute mess in my driveway but luckily I had an entire bounty roll near by and nothing is quicker lol.
@@Boneheaddiesel1 it’s the quicker picker upper!
So many things you did I’ve done it had me laughing. I’ve put old tin signs behind, screen, cardboard etc. It all works and keeps these old relics on the road
@@CruisinWithKevin my go to as a teen/ young man for covering rust holes was duct tape and primer… no one seemed to notice or care.
@ lol yep done that too
Keep up the good work, Buff.
@@2StallGarage doing my best, but in an attempt to bring the entertainment, I keep getting in over my head!
@ in my opinion, watching someone work through issues and learn while they do is relatable to more people and just as enjoyable as those who have this trade mastered.
Keep peeling and filling brother
@@outfitsgarage88 doing my best
At least you didn't use cardboard and bondo, I bought a 280Z that had been patched up using that method. A good soaking rain and a deep puddle took out a rear quarter panel.
@@PatrickBrannonSr. thought about it but steered toward the foam
Been looking forward to this one. 🎉
Used long strand fiberglass to rebuild a rust c10. It lasted for years long after I sold it
@ that’s the idea here too.. just doing a slightly better job of repairing this thing than what was done previously… it should last long enough for someone to enjoy it or rebuild it
@ agreed it’s better than letting it sit and waiting for someday
@ if only everyone understood that!! It runs like a beast so now it needs to look good (well decent) too.
can't waite till the next one
@@RobertSnedigar thanks for watching
Farm raised, free range, vine ripened, fat free vinegar for flushing the coolant system. Run it for a day or two and then flush with water and you should be in good shape.
@@walterrobbins4470 definitely doing this on the international and the dually. Thanks for that tip
Look at d&h classics in Oklahoma, and Sammy's salvage also in Oklahoma in some of puddins fab shop junkyard walk-arounds and the 2 with mortske repair there's ih trucks, scouts and travelall"s
Stuff better than my spray paint version of cheap and easy lol but is what it is 😊
@@NotmeGK123 it doesn’t really raise the price much for what I’m selling it for.. it’s still a great deal I think, but then again it sat for quite a while before I got it and no one wanted it..
Same for the Buick.
It’s not for a lack of wanting it. It’s further away from where I live to be able to go get it and be back home in time for work.
I may need to buy that to have room for grands and let’s be clear….it’s probably more reliable than mine 😂
@@rebeccahagebusch674 it’ll sleep a couple of them for sure!
Oh no....what did Johnny Law want? Nice progress, Buff.
@@GuntherVonB the oversized rear tire inflated my speed slightly, but also no 3rd brake light and broken windshield.. I think he was bored.
I'm beginning to like that rusty old barge, it's growing on me
@@XEboi same but I can’t afford to keep this one
That paint was a great score in this 💩 economy! Thanks for the video!
@@TruckzNTrainz thanks for watching
Good to see that fine gal getting some love.
@@walterrobbins4470 if only a little
I could see doing this to a beater you're going to keep, but since you have the intent of passing it along, this looks like lipstick on a pig for the next sucker. Exactly what all the old guys used to do back in the days. Buy some old junker, fill it full of mud, and add a grand onto the price. As bad as Mortske, or whatever his name is.
@@coolhanddruid not even trying to scam anyone.. it’ll be advertised with this video as reference.. someone can come in and easily cut and paste in new metal in the future. The price only goes up a few hundred on my end and that’s because of the new parts I put in. Trust me, for a nice “beater” wagon, this one will last someone a few years before they need to redo it.
I used to flip beater trucks back in the day and almost never raised the price more than a couple hundred. Back then I’d use duct tape and primer to cover rust holes, but I always told them that when I sold it.
I’m not going to criticize the paint color whatsoever
