I've never seen these "photo etched" things before, very cool. A lit Enterprise-D model was always on my dream wish list as a kid but I never got one so it's nice to live vicariously through youtube videos.
In lighting the red/green position lights on the extreme aft of the Enterprise-D, 1) use a routing bit in a Dremel tool to create fine channeling. 2) Install the appropriate wiring, LEDs, etc. 3) Lay over the open space lengths of thin extruded polystyrene strip stock (e.g., Evergreen, Plastruct); or perhaps pieces of leftover photo- etched fret. 4) paint in matching hull colours. 5) Thank me profusely for my astounding idea! (Or, whatever utter silliness comes to mind at the time.) As I recall, the Enterprise-D has 33 lights. I had not illuminated my kit, though I improved the model with MV lenses borrowed from model railroading. One could incorporate them into the model. The USS Ohio Runabout is assigned to the Starship Enterprise -E (or -F, whichever is canon for the next official presentation). Re 13:25, with the transparent clear kit, just mask the window exteriors with white glue.
*8:21* I loved them painting. To get the transparent, clear paint that doesn’t look all streaky and dries out uniformly for the Bussard caps and the navigational deflector.
Please forgive my ignorance, but does this kit come with the LEDs? It's called a "lighted kit" but from my understanding you purchased them separately? Any advice is appreciated as I've been looking to buy a 1701-D kit myself and do want to install interior lighting and just not sure where to start.
The LEDs come with the ship. You get so many parts a month and if that part has lights it will come with it. I just put my first shipment this past Friday. Waiting on my next shipment.
yes the "Lighted Enterprise Kit" comes with a very cheap set of LED's. Quality is sub-par. You would be better off going with a 3rd party lighting kit.
I really don't like the colors of the newer decals. They seem to distracting. That's why i specifically got the old Refit release. New one just looked off.

What is the best lighted Enterprise D kit?
Should be an awesome build. She is a beautiful ship.
I’ve been wanting one of those generations ship kits and they’re so hard to find and this guy has like a stack of them. Lol

@@bennytaylor2041 This is not the Eaglemoss/ Hero enterprise. I hope you are prepared to pay $2000 in the end for it.
