This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Malivore/The Eater Of The Dark. Both Douglas Trait and Aria Shahghasemi did Incredible Performances Bringing This Powerful and Intelligent Monster To Life. I want to Truly Thank You TVDU Editor for Creating this Masterpiece. Malivore was truly an Underused Antagonist’s and Had So Much Potential But This Tribute Did Him Justice.

Malivore had such potential to be a super dark, unsettling, and threatening antagonist that got ruined because they leaned into the camp and villain of the week

Awe, the main versus the hard left for the overdone greek gods. Honestly this entire 4 season arc was great. Season 5 as per usual...Well on to this video. Thank you for reminding us all what plot versus fan pandering is. The foreshadowing that was sprinkled throughout the seasons, you captured all the different sides of Malivore's legend down to what he intended and why. I love this so much.

They had so much potential, but instead of taking advantage of the mystery and darkness of Malivore they put more focus on his mudboy son who had zero tangible value apart from "immortal son of mud guy"

This is absolutely amazing. Unlike some others, I loved watching the development of this story and character throughout the show.
Is there any chance you could make a tribute to Lizzie Saltzman sometime in the future?

you know though despite him being underwhelming he was still the best antagonist in the show compared to the rest:
necromancer was entertaining but it was hard to take him serious often and him constantly reminding people that he was the necromancer and laughing like a clown got annoying
clarke had a cool few moments but overall felt like he couldnt hold his own in a dangerous situation, he didnt feel threatening
aurora was nice to see her again but again not really threatening much, maybe she needed to spend more time in hopes body
ken was threatening but had a very small arc and his personality was bland and luke mitchell acted like he didnt want to be there, that didnt help
monsters of week were only eye candy to horror fans cause they were handmade and not cgi, other than that most of them had no character depth and they all got taken out so easily
triad werent threatening the least bit, the only reason they were able to toss monsters in the malivore pit is cause they got lucky aka the writing was in their corner
kai was great for those 2 episodes he was in but even then he wasnt that threatening anymore
cant really think of other major legacies villains

  • @malivore7264

sadly all the writing needed to do to improve him is a few things:
first off dont make him literally out of mud it was dumb, I get mud/clay golems are a part of real life lore but it dont make much sense, I get he is supposed to be like walking quicksand but it dont make much sense to me he could have still kept that form but instead of made of mud he was made with human flesh and blood or a fire or ice golem something menancing like that.
the writers did a poor job at explaining that he was both that black puddle and wasnt that puddle, imo malivore should have been able to open up a portal to the artificial dimension created by triad but it shouldnt be part of him. They could have still written nature/the spirits made a consequence of the triad and gave him a mind of his own to turn against his masters.
they needed to make it clearer if he killed cleos family or not cause they never explained if he did or not, all we had is context clues so we have to assume he did cause it never made sense why she wanted him dead, he didnt kidnap her as a kid, she volunteered to help him.
Lastly he needed to be in landons body by the end of season 1 as soon as clarke threw in that final key, it didnt make sense he never got the jump on landon and therefore could have gotten out sooner, more character development, more development on his powers, something better for aria to do and been spared for all the dozens of pointless monsters that came after season 1 that didnt help but then again the monster thing always had limits to how far it could go.
And he could have remained the series antagonist as originally planned by julie plec, granted it didnt mean he had to be the only villain there could still be triad and the gods and necromancer and some other faces.
And Im aware the damage is done, the only thing that can be helped by these tips is if legacies comes back the writers do some time travelling retcon and apply these things or an entire new story written by someone to apply these tips if they wanted to make a similar malivore character. I had the privelage of talking to the actor in the malivore costume and even he told me there should have been fixes cause otherwise he was a cool concept, I dont care what the haters tell me that he shouldnt have been introduced and always just been vampires werewolves and witches, I agree to disagree.

@@Musicalisary Yeah I can mostly agree with that, I think I did say on this site before that I'd be alright with the writers original idea to make malivore antagonist of the entire series but giving it more thought I dont think that could work well, series long antagonists get boring after a while cause it just becomes so repetitive(which can be a good or bad thing) as it did here. And I think that repetition got fans pissed cause that is what probably is the reason for the gods cause if the writers had their way malivore would have been main antagonist of season 4. That being said there were ideas that could have been done with him that never happened and idk why and that bothers me to this day, I even talked to the guy in the malivore suit and even he agreed they needed to do more with that character, whether people hate or love or indifferent to malivore by no means should he have stayed that friggin puddle thing for 3 seasons, malivore should have absorbed into landon as soon as clarke threw that final magic key in season 1 finale cause in the end hope and clarke going into the pit was mostly pointless to the story anyway.
And I do agree there were obvious routes to go with hopes tribrid, again idk why the writers felt all that airtime was nice for filler and I still dont get it and probably never will.
