  • Former BBC journalist Robin Aitken (author of "Can We Trust the BBC?") interviews Lord (Charles) Moore, former editor of The Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph & The Spectator and official biographer of Margaret Thatcher.
    In a wide-ranging discussion, Lord Moore discusses Mrs. Thatcher's attitude towards -- and attempts to reform -- the BBC, the BBC's failure to understand how or why the public could vote for Thatcher, Brexit or Donald Trump and the British Broadcasting Corporation's sneering & snobbish attitude towards patriotism.
    He also discusses the BBC's uncritical obsession with BLM as well as Islam, towards which it is very protective whilst being overtly hostile to Christianity -- failing, for example, to properly cover Christian persecution around the world. Lord Moore & Robin Aitken also consider whether reform of the BBC is desirable and achievable or whether the institution should be scrapped completely.
    This interview was recorded for episode 5 of the New Culture Forum's landmark documentary series "Heresies" (#NCFHeresies). Written & presented by Robin Aitken, "BBC Bias Exposed: An Insider's Story", may be seen here (and features excerpts from this interview): • Scrap the BBC? Rod Lid...

      @Saddamuel 3 года назад +4

      Damn it. That and Only Connect are the only BBC shows I really watch. I've noticed the University Challenge questions getting more and more leftie. Whenever there is a question that doesn't use a personal pronoun, you can be sure that it will be about a woman. The bonus questions often have a theme, and you often don't actually have to know anything about the theme to answer the question. For example, they ask something like "Alice McWoman wrote a book about famous historical figures, identify them from her descriptions" - When questions take this form, they almost invariably take the opportunity to highlight a woman.
      Then you get the questions about feminism and female authors - which I can often answer because I like to know my enemy. Often the people and theories cited are popular among the progressive crowd. It's like knowing who Roxanne Gay is or who founded Ms. Magazine.
      I once got all three bonus questions and predicted the second two. The answer to the first was Immanuel Kant and before the second two were asked, I predicted the answers would be Hegel and then Marx. Fair enough, but lol.
      It would be nice to have a question where the answer was Ludwig von Mises, Murray Rothbard, Ayn Rand, Thomas Sowell. I think Mises and Rand came up once that I recall, but that's not much! Thomas Piketty on the other hand?

      Not from watching the bbc was his point. Its obvious how biden became president from the bbc version of the news, trump was the most unpopular president in history, had bungled the pandemic and biden was a return to normalcy with a forward thinking, inclusive platform and team.
      Makes sense if it was all there was to be said, in reality, biden was out of it, his platform angered lots of people, his vp pick was one of the most unpopular candidates in the presidential race, he avoided engaging with trump and defending his platform whenever an excuse was possible and nowhere near as many people cared about trumps controversies as they thought.
      End result, election was far closer than the bbc thought it would be, they got the result right but not through any real understanding of what was happening on the ground.

Many people may be brainwashed, but there are a few key stories and people who were censored and if Trump had managed to make it unviable for them to be censored, he would have won. For example, Carpe Donktum was making memes that gained huge traction in convincing people - he was banned. Before that you had Milo, Alex Jones and others who were throttled. The former two may not be your cup of tea, but either one of them might have been able to make the difference. The number of countries that could be added to that list is vast. Countries where it is safe and equal to be a Christian form a tiny minority in the world - and sadly, even in the UK we are beginning to realise we are on that trajectory in so many ways. The first step of that process: you stereotype a group of people with negative epithets; then they are vilified for any action or comment that can be found as a criticism, at which point the media intensifies hatred and contempt for that group amongst the general public; the group is then sidelined in society as nothing is reported about them, so that, for example, persecuted Christians overseas are ignored in favour of other religions in news reporting, even though they are the most widely affected religion; then they become criminalized for following their religious principles; and finally they are rounded up and tortured for their beliefs under the cloak of the law.

    In treating Charles Moore as they did during his time as guest editor, I'm wondering whether those inside the BBC saw a mirror image of themselves in him, and in order to extinguish their own sense of self-imposed guilt decided to shackle and prevent him from airing views and opinions which he, they and millions of others share but which for bizarre reasons no one is allowed to discuss - race and immigration being the most obvious examples.

      This is the problem, the whole thing is shrouded in a sort of deluded fashion of "being decent" and "what's the decent thing". This then moves from reporting to opinion making. The right wing press is equally suffering from this. The pursuit of different peoples ideas and standard of "what's decent" becomes the main focus. The problem at the BBC however is shameful because we all have to pay them for the pleasure of the opinions on their decency.

As the saying goes, ''He who pays the Piper, calls the Tune''. Further, the stampede of BBC, and even retired BBC, Far left political executives, journalists and heads of programming---moved to all of our top Universities and schools. All funded via the E.U. 36:58 While he is largely correct in his dissection of the BBC, Charles Moore has got this part wrong. The BBC cannot explain the difference between 'Islam and Islamism', because it is an invented distinction, one that the BBC propagates. There is no such thing as 'Islamism'. This is a journalistic deflection to defend Islam from criticism, from the same people who forbade the term 'Islamic terrorism' from appearing in newspapers. The BBC thinks that If Islam is to be explained at all it must be by a Muslim 'scholar'. That is why you never see (except once) Robert Spencer or a Muslim apostate on the BBC to give chapter and verse on Islamic doctrine. They prefer those who dissemble to those who tell the truth. Politically correct realities are the only realities to the BBC.

    I haven't watched Newsnight since Kirsty Wark called Ayaan Hirsi Ali 'the controversial critic of islam'. I was disgusted with Ayaan's treatment by the BBC who obviously had no comprehension of what that woman went through, or perhaps they don't care about how women are treated by 'the religion of peace', the only thing that interested Wark was that Ayaan criticises islam. Shame on the BBC.

      The Austtralian Broadcasting Corporation (formerly Commission) treated Ayaan Hirsi Ali in just the same way. Decades after they were first created they were largely parasitic on the BBC's once excellent drama comedy and documentary output. The ABC got a lot of the reflected glory. Seems they follow them into the left-propaganda morass too.

Even when setbup in 1921, the government could have allowed the creation of several commercial stations, as did the US. It tells us a lot about the governance of Britain that the state controlled the radio and its content.

And they blinfdly follow it. All muslims use the phrase inshallah. That is why it is so savage: Bataclan: Rotherham, London Underground, Nice, London Bridge, Fusilier Rigby, the Twin Towers, Manchester Arena, Achille Lauro where they killed a man in a wheelchair. • @Saddamuel
      @Saddamuel 3 года назад +3

      The other reply to your comment was insane. I would have voted for Trump, but part of the problem was that Trump was a disappointing President, just not in the way the elite say he was. He failed to drain the swamp. He allowed himself to be surrounded by people who hated him. Liberal loons might be baffled by this, but Trump was too intent on winning people over and on being liked rather than enforcing his will and the mandate upon which he was elected. He would have been well within his rights to fire every senior bureaucrat he could within agencies ranging from the FBI to the State Department. The problem was that the people running these departments weren't just dragging their feet - they were actively opposing his agenda. The machine of government itself was his enemy and America's enemy.
      I think the President may have to get appointees approved by Congress, but does he also need approval to fire people? Just get rid of them and if the positions aren't filled because Congress blocks them, so be it. America needed someone willing to do that or the equivalent. Someone who could stretch the acceptable to the limits.
      Also, Trump continued the out of control spending and didn't really manage to rein in the war machine. You could argue that the US is only out of Afghanistan now because of him and that they didn't play a bigger role in Syria because he blocked that, but I think his supporters deserved far more than that.
      And then there is the social media censorship issue which probably alone 'lost' him the fortified election. There were several people who, if they had still been on social media or not being throttled, could have swung the few thousand voters he needed to win. they would have been creating news, making videos and putting Trump's case to the public, but instead they were banished to the phantom zone. The media and social media companies won the election for Biden and Trump did nothing to sort that out. You could argue the censorship of the New York Post's Hunter Biden story alone was what cost him the election.
      I get that he didn't have a political machine around him, but you have to make do with what you have. There were people like Bannon who should have just been given important roles. There were supporters with some experience that he could have brought in rather than getting lumbered with a bunch of W. Bush people who hated Trump.

There r dictatorships all over with really GOOD climates and GREAT food so quit flapping your lips & get your feet moving-- to take you to a country that you like with a really good dictator that just throws people in the trash when he doesn't like them. Actually Trump did do that if you do your research but it all events you don't have to stay in the country of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, which Y'ALL probably call the Tea Party cuz all that tea was dumped in the ocean in protest. It's great to see such a respected media figure as Lord Moore talking so candidly about the BBC. No doubt there were worthy intentions when setting up the BBC model however, Lord Moore has pointed out the obvious flaw of that model - because of the way it is funded it has - almost by default - become a monopoly, which means it is not constrained to be impartial, even though there is a legal requirement from OFCOM to do so. Personally, I find the sneering arrogance directed at, in particular, the ethnic English quite repugnant and beneath contempt. I rarely if ever watch the BBC now, and if I ever do, I feel I've let myself down.

I finally had to send my complaint to Ofcom. I have to say Ofcom, in respect to investigating complaints made against the BBC, is a total waste of taxpayers' money. Apparently they will not let the complainant know the result of any investigation they carry out. Therefore there is no resolution for the complainant, I don't even know whether they bothered to investigate my complaint, so have to assume that they did not. The BBC really ought to be renamed the MBC, the Marxist Broadcasting Corporation.
