The man who plays the wangsha/ king, is my favorite king portrayal EVER! The waving of his hand to dismiss someone in the last episode is perfect and I can imagine kings doing that. I’m kinda simping on him! lol he’s great!❤
I have seen this many times but it is always worth rewatching. The acting, sets, costumes, are well done. It is much too long at 70 episodes. Some arcs and characters are not really necessary. However, with few exceptions the main characters are well developed. The familial relationships are complex and the court intrigue is over the top. Even the hairstyle says something. When Ning Yi's hair is down that is when he is his most vulnerable self. In court and when his hair is in a bun, he is always calculating his next move. ziyan is the character that is the easiest to decipher. His goal is steadfastly to enthrone a "good" emperor.
I can't get over this either. Always new aspects, new details, new questions, for 7 months by now (you do know it far longer prob) It's a sign a story is really good, despite a few imperfections which I also like to grumble about. The 70 episodes don't bother me. I once heard a classic Peking opera can consist of up to 120 acts. Usually only a few of these are shown in performances. The audience knows the story anyway and enjoys the details. That's roughly what I do with ROTP :)
Xin Ziyan a wise soul? He is clever and cunning, also warm-hearted, sincere, a bit vain. He has a great goal: to create a "wise ruler" who will bring order to the young, unstable Tiansheng and turn it into a great power. Among other things, his ideal ruler must fulfill one condition: he must be lonely all his life. Xin is mistaken. Lonely rulers are not the best. The old emperor is a living example of this. But good old Xin is not consistent, not least because of his sincere affection for his prince. So, against his will, he lets Ning Yi use him again and again to protect his dearest of hearts. That makes him likeable, but not wise.
He also the same character in queen mingyue ..the legend of ming yue .he is an ambassador a glib tounge ruin every leader but he is in side for good government

Have you watched the show 'All is Well'? He's in it and I think you will like his acting in that show as well.

I’m sorry, but Ningyi’s bandage wrapping was not very good. 😂 The bandages were so loose after he finished!
I think it was a mistake to reveal Duke Minhai's perfidy so early in the episode. The audience should have been kept in suspense IMO😅
