    I grew those a few years ago and need to do it again, they are really good. It is hard to find room for the ones I already know that I like plus all the new varieties I want to try. Great video, I really enjoyed how you filmed planting all the way up to harvest.

    It's my favorite cherry for sure and always in my garden now. If you want tomatoes and you're having issues growing them, this one seems to always come through. Weird how it pushes huge clusters over the top of the cage isn't it? Great video and thank your for the shout out.

    I'm planning on growing Black Cherry this year. Compared to the other cherry tomatoes you've grown did you think it was one of the better ones? I'm going to try single stemming and caging a couple of these plants.

    • @MidwestGardener
      @MidwestGardener  5 лет назад +4

      I'm not a huge fan of cherry tomatoes, but if I was going to grow just one cherry tomato plant and no other, it would be the Black Cherry. The last time I grew one, it got close to 10 feet tall. It went over the top of the cage and then almost reached the ground. Good choice!

    • @lucasgrowsbestyt
      @lucasgrowsbestyt 5 лет назад +1

      Me neither. I like to go big or go home with tomatoes, but I like the cherries for ornamental and snacking reasons. I'm convinced to buy seeds now!

    My Black Cherry Tomatoe plant has bare lots of tomatoes throughout the year, but now it's about 7 feet tall and has stopped growing tomatoes.
    Should I cut it to about half its size to allow it to re-grow? What do you suggest? 🤔

    think I will back tra k and study your tomato methods, i am a terrible tomato grower. my ground is low floods and disease sets in. next year will be different, and I will stop smoking tobacco, thanks sir. great info

    • @MidwestGardener
      @MidwestGardener  8 лет назад

      Well, thank you very much for that. Yes, too much moisture and not enough air flowing through your plants can cause them to get more disease. And if you are serious about stopping smoking, I'm all for that. My son and his wife quit this year. I've seen what smoking can do......it's not good.

      You're welcome, Christine! I know exactly what you mean. Some plants just can't take it when it gets into the upper 90s, or over 100. I hope they do well for you. The really produced well for us. This year I had one that came up as a volunteer. I didn't even stake it, and it still grew well and produced tomatoes even lying on the ground.

    • @lotusflower37
      @lotusflower37 6 лет назад +1

      I will have to document how they do here! Last summer we had several days in a row that were 115 - 120. I'll be starting them in the house, from seed under my grow lamp. Anything that produces a volunteer and grows without a stake is nice and hearty!

    Thanks so much for trying all these different varieties and sharing all the info with us! Have you grown Amish Paste? I did for first time this year and almost pulled it up because it looked sick with viral wilt since the beginning, but it grew tall and produced large tomatoes that had better, sweeter flavor than any of my other tomatoes! I have about 100 plants, mostly heirlooms.

And at the end of the video I do a taste test of tomatoes harvested from the plant. So the video progresses from seedling to harvest.
