Fantastic review of John Wetton : An Extraordinary Life : 8CD Box Set. I saw John Live with Asia back in 1980s at Wembley he has led an extraodinary life for sure. His song writing talents really show how talented John Wetton was.

Hi Phil - brilliant review of Johns boxset. My first exposure to John was with the English band "Family" one of my fav bands, saw them in concert on a number of occasions, and they / he was always brilliant. Then of course I went onto King Crimson and then Asia. He was a superb musician and that voice was just very special. I dont have a huge amount of his music, but I will keep an eye out for some of his solo albums in the future. A terrible loss indeed. Cheers

Thank you, Phil. John Wetton has been a personal music hero of mine, since I first heard King Crimson USA as a green 15yo in 1979. A ferocious BASS Player and a truly amazing singer and songwriter. I love all his work and his bands. I bought this immediately when it came out and was just astounded especially with the Rarities. The Beautiful Presentation and Book. I wanted to say I just started watching your videos a couple days ago and came across this and I gotta tell you I could hear the emotion in your voice and see it in your face and I KNEW what was coming. I started to tear up myself right as you did.. Very moving. You did a marvelous job on this one. I miss "The Golden God" every day. I think I'll pop in my Amorata Live DVD tonight. It is his very best and most passionate performance caught on video. I enjoyed all your Jethro Tull shows very much.

I only recently got into more progressive music but I love Number The Brave his one album with Wishbone Ash and that first Asia album is phenomenal... I will be diving deeper.

Been so much looking forward to this since rumours of a box set began to circulate as far back as last year. Love all his work , with bands and solo. The song that gets me everytime is 'Crime Of Passion' off 'Battle Lines', it's his 'God Only Knows'.

I am such a huge fan of John's bass playing on the King Crimson records. The sound he achieves is monstrous. I have never listened to his solo music. As he moved toward more traditional song structures, are there still moments where is bass playing stand out on these albums? I
Not really. He had developed severe carpal tunnel syndrome in his right hand and could no longer do the type of bass playing he did in the early days. But even before that had become an issue, he'd largely moved away from his earlier flamboyant, aggressive playing style.
What Uriah Heep Albums did John Wetton sing on & what is his best solo album ? I like him in the first 2 Asia albums .. I don't know about King Crimson, I never grew into their music.. I know there must have been some good albums ..
He sang on High and Mighty and also played on Return To Fantasy. All of his solo albums are wonderful and they are all on this box set. tow of my favourites are Rock of Faith and Welcome To Heaven. Phil
