Those Goodwill prices are crazy high! Same in my area too. Melbourne Florida. They also have started taking the color of the week off the shelves. So hard to find a 1/2 price item any more. Sticking to garage sales and community thrifts - until they catch on of course!
Wow, the goodwill outlet was expensive. And I have never seen a goodwill with handwritten price tags.

It kinda boggles my mind. Goodwill needs to make a profit certainly but if they overprice things, they will sit on the shelf. Wouldn’t it be smarter for them to maybe go in between instead of going high and not selling?

Jocelyn, I was shocked by the high prices at the Goodwills in this video! Seems like they are higher than many vintage/antique shops! Anyway, you took it all in stride! Flea market season is approaching! Those are great fun!

Western Washington Goodwill prices are more than retail sometimes.
They're getting really bad in my area, too (central Florida). When I moved here two years ago the prices were amazing! I mainly go to flea markets, estate sales and yard sales now.
June, July and August is summer time. No school.

Everyone has different items they gravitate to. I am glad you said before if it doesn't inspire you, you don't buy it. It has changed how I look at things in order to make sure I will get it in a sale. 😊

I am constantly amazed at the quality of items in the Goodwill stores on these videos. The only Goodwill in my town is a garbage dump. The shelves have no order to them and most of the items are chipped, broken, or with no purpose or value. I am so jealous.
@@lynnegaffney6209Same here! I’m not a thrifter or a reseller so I struggle to find the gems in all the chaos, but there are 3 RUclipsrs who resell in my area and they manage to find them!
Behind that sad carnival glass was a little white pitcher with grapes on it. I had one of those in my online shoppe that actually went out in the mail to a lucky customer this morning. She paid $28 plus shipping for it. I love it when I spot things in your vids that I recently purchased, have listed in my own shoppe or just sold. 😊

I was so yelling at the tv to grab the Lenox snoopy box! So sure you missed something that I did an eBay search and found the same exact box in a listing and It was a frame that only sells for $8 😂

I can't take loud music in stores. Rock concerts, yes! Stores, no. I don't know why either, all I know is that I get way too overwhelmed. Jocelyn has got a lot better with it over the years... exposure therapy from thrifting all the time maybe?

June, July, August is generally summer vacation for teachers.
In some places. I spent 42 years in education. Most near me don't get out until mid-late June and start back up mid August. Schools in the south get out in May and go back the first week in August. No 3 month "vacation."

I laughed when I heard you say you were in Belle Vernon, PA, which is in my backyard!!! When you showed the wooden birds from Haiti, I had picked those up myself just a few days ago!!! I didn’t see the weeping gold bowl which I would have picked up because I have a few other pieces. Goodwill was cleaning shelves of dated stuff which made for sparse pickings but a worker tol me they were changing their policy. See you soon.

I don’t enjoy shopping anywhere when the musicis so loud you have to shout at your shopping partner. Even the grocery store was playing loud music. I thought the idea is to get people shopping longer instead of wanting them to rush through.

I blind-lucked into a dated piece of pearlware they other day for $3. One of the ones hand-painted under glaze with a name and a date - 1844. Not crazy money but... legit 180 years old and just sitting on a shelf. The desk thermometer belonged sitting on the shelf at that price.
You crack me up “great thing about being a teacher”. Also, you looked at those small pitcher and bowl sets but left them. I wondered why? Not because they’d be a good resale, but I probably would have picked them up because I like them. I’m not explaining what I mean very well. Sometimes you leave things and other times you pick it up. How do you decide?

Actually, their pay is an amount each month hun...the same amount every year is divided by 12 . Their pd days are working days for them. My daughter is a social worker for the school board in Canada 🇨🇦
Not in USA. You only get paid in the 10 months you work. In NJ, that’s Sept-June. July and August- zero paychecks.

The radio was ridiculously loud in both places.
I wouldn't have paid $30 if I was keeping it for myself. I liked the chicken behind the grapes, but it was probably ridiculously priced also.
Goodwill is ridiculous they get everything donated, and their items are way overpriced.
They still have overhead to cover and those costs have gone up for every kind of business including GW.
@@mamaG4 that’s true but they’re getting free donations, pure profit.
@@Hopeforus24 pure profit would mean it gets donated and it sells for $5 and GW gets $5. In reality they get $5 and all the overhead comes out of that $5. They may be left with very little profit. That’s how it works.
Jocelyn I was watching one of your videos & you came across a large piggy bank with shamrocks o. It but you passed it up cuz you didn't want to ship it but I found out it's worth a thousand bucks did t know if you knew that or not
