The Backyard Hockey version I played when I was younger was the one for the Nintendo DS. It was relatively easy to play, even with at the hardest level. What actually set each difficulty level apart was the duration of each period and the frequency of power ups. The easy mode had two minute periods, while the middle difficulty mode had four minute periods and the hard mode had six minute periods.
The Backyard Sports series as a whole was also part of my childhood. I remember putting in backyard Football and playing that relentlessly. Backyard basketball and soccer was also my go to as well. I wish i can still play those games now. I remember finding a way to play them but i have forgotten.

I played this game so much as a kid, even when I got older in high school we were given iPads, and I downloaded an emulator to play this and all the other backyard games in class lol

Its honestly sad this is our one option for a hockey game. They obviously put zero effort into a recycled game because of no competition in the market. Its either eat their shit or don't eat at all.

It's the art style of 05 that I think is the problem. All the other backyard sports used the same art style and the characters look the same. 05 changed it up and the characters all look updated
