Really glad to see a positive result from the IP discussions. We can continue to grow this fantastic game and community with renewed confidence, while retaining much of the themes and aesthetics that make the Warhammer universe so iconic.
Previously, I would have credited you (Iain) for getting me into Warmaster, but it's great to know the other names of people who deserve as much credit for their dedication and work to keep this game thriving.
I am super happy about these changes. It corrected a glaring issue with 15cm shooting for chaos dwarves and ogres. I am also pleased with the general reduction for overly expensive monsters like giants and hydra. Keep up the effort!
Nothing stopping you filling that void, create the unit within the basic framework in use and play test it. If it was me they would be a unit of dwarf rangers 20 points added on with +1 attack for the leaders stand and a list of who could and could not hire them. They would keep all ranger special rules.
Well this seems like good timing. I've just painted my first Warmaster unit, and have ordered a good deal more. I'm well on my way to 1000 points of Chaos. Perhaps within a year I'll be able to run a game!
In the words of that fine Tilean Lady, Gossipa Alotta, "Those poor pikemen, they just flew too close to the sun." Other than that looks good and I appreciate all the work people have put into this. I especially loved seeing the Regiments of Renown as my Dogs of War already have several of these models.
The only think i will say is watching pizarro Lost legion i have remebered estalians fan made lists for fantasy seventh edition and makes me wonder how can a comunity present develomental list proposals as i can guarantee that hipothetical list would recieve a Lost of support in the young but growing spanish comunity
surprised the flyer half pace move is only 10cm, I can only think the intention is that the fliers have landed so move at infantry speed? I guess an extra movement penalty to an already very mobie unit to help other units deal with them is fair enough.
Thanks. I'll have to look at the Ogre and Wood Elf armies closer as I have both but rarely play them. Also I guess I'll get he Cathay and Nippon armies out of the trays. They're both primed and half based & half paint sticks so they've been started. Only thing about my Cathay is all the chariots are 4 horse so I need to find some 2 horse chariots.
Simply add Ind, Vampire Coast & Halflings & then i think that is every faction in warhammer fantasy represented! quite cool! unless i have missed something.
3:47 the wording of this rule is confusing to me. Left column establishes half pace movement on a failed command roll, but doesn't say it only counts for the first command directed at a troop each round. Then in the right column a restriction is made, but not referencing which movement this applies to. I thought, this rule means that if a second or third command fails, you have to undo *all* movement that troop already made that command phase. Only now with your explanation I get what it means. Just make clear that half pace is only allowed for the first failed command per troop per command phase in the left column and ditch the sentence in the right column. Way less confusing.
Really appreciate the summary, great to see the ideas that were rejected as well. Are we to take it that the reduction of Goblin Spear Chukkas to -/1 was unintended?
I’m excited by these changes. I’m been slowly getting into Warmaster and have been a longtime fan of Chaos dwarfs. It’s nice being able to field the earthshaker and the rocket together more easily
Al Muktar‘s Desert Dogs: These guys should be 75pts unless there is a special rule not mentioned in the Regiments of Renown. One suggestion for the Army lists is arrange them in alphabetical order ? may make it easier to find them? Great video as always.
Thanks to Ales and the rules committee for keeping WMR not just alive but also in the best condition it ever was 👏 Pity the Chaos knights remain at 200 points, perhaps sometimes in the future 😊
Thanks for the video overview. Loved your wood elf excitement ;) but I just noticed the Chaos Dwarf blunderbuss rule was a bit too copy/paste of the dwarf rule. There is no such troop called 'warriors' in the chaos dwarf list with which to substitute blunderbusses.
Great video! Thanks for the hard work and in depth information. I watched the whole thing, so I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss it, but We’re their no changes to Vampire Counts?
@@iainmstanding thank you for the quick reply! Much appreciated! I just watched your vampire count faction overview as I’m just starting on my journey into the game and have joined a slow grow group in Australia. Obviously my choice to start with is Vampire Counts. The info in that video was exactly what I needed. Thanks again for your videos. It makes the game much more accessible for new comers!
so pikemen now suck again. the 5+ armor save represented getting past an 18 foot pike, not the actual armor on the guy holding it. im sticking with the old rules.
Time will tell. I pushed hard for 5+ armour last year, but turns out I'm in the minority this year. I'll wait and see how the reduced cost works out this year.
You keep them behind your main line due to their lack of armour. From there they can jump on enemy flyers or cav that try to sneak around your flanks. They can also protect your missile infantry. Their high number of attacks make them ideal for swift counter strikes, but not prolonged engagements.
I had a question about using the Empire Skirmishers for scouting. Since they are an addition to a parent unit. If skirmishers are used for scouting, and they win the scout role, will the Skirmishers and there parent unit be placed prior to the other army?
GW will be re-releasing Warhammer fantasy and Warmaster further down the line. Along with Epic 40k. So it benefits GW to have the community thriving while they build their game system and products. Also gives the fans who have put hundreds of not thousands of hours into existing system that GW essentially let die off. Until revived. So it works perfectly for both parties.
@@iainmstanding It's in the pipeline from what I've heard. But I don't think it'll be Warmaster per say. Ideally I think GW would get a much better start and longterm interest doing warhammer fantasy/Warmaster blend in 15mm scale. Large armies, cheaper to get a arrmy, easier to move about than larger scales and still large enough to do a very good paint job.
So. Question , when did the goblins lose their second bolt thrower per thousand. I thought it was 2 per 1000 points? Or was it this version of the army list rules.
I was like. Hey. You didn’t say the gobbos decreased. But I downloaded the edit today and it was back. So. Short ranged artillery park is still in. I mean. If you want to spend your points on bolt throwers.
Actually. It was the previous rules but was not mentioned. I and others read it. Or. Was this a typo ? You didn’t mention it I. This video. Are they still supposed to have 2 bolt throwers?

Strange that Bugmans Rangers aren't represented in regiments of renown. they seem quite worthy!

No points reduction for Chaos Knights😕 Better dust off the Dragon Ogres
I tried! But maybe next time, with enough playtest evidence.

Great vid! Glad you guided us through all of this. Question: Are HE Reavers the only fast missile cav that is still 90 rather than 75pts?
Only light cav with 15cm range got the discount. Glade riders, Squires and Reavers did not.
@@iainmstanding Ah, I see. Tyvm for quick response.

I had a question about using the Empire Skirmishers for scouting. Since they are an addition to a parent unit. If skirmishers are used for scouting, and they win the scout role, will the Skirmishers and there parent unit be placed prior to the other army?
Yes, any unit or character you put forward for scouts have to be deployed if you win the roll, unless they can infiltrate.
