  • Welcome! I'm Alice, and on my channel, I sort through the makeup/skincare hype and discuss REAL thoughts on products - no first impressions/sucking up involved. I strive to be honest, family-friendly and create content with all demographics in mind!

    --------
    This video is part of an (extremely long) series in which I trial a brand or theme's skincare products for two weeks; afterward, I give a review of each product based on my experience, the ingredients, and the cost. I film these bare faced (with the skincare discussed applied) for transparency.
    Common Questions/Gripes -
    🔹"Are you sponsored?" No, never. I don't want money from any brand to corrupt what I do here.
    🔹"Two weeks isn't enough time" In my own experience, the changes from week 1 to 2 are often intense, but past that, the EFFECT seems to taper out. YMMV, and some products only show the effect around 6 months (retinol, peptides, etc).
    🔹"Can you discuss more studies?" Not really - due to time constraints. I wish I had endless time, and if I did I would offer citations. Unfortunately, I cannot make a thesis out of each video. I apologize!
    🔹"Can you tone down the science?" I get this a lot and like the above question - not really. I try to walk the middle ground here, but skincare IS science. It's tough to separate!
    🔹"Should I rely on your review?" These videos are made to share my own experience and general thoughts. For YOUR routine, I always recommend visiting your dermatologist!

    Please know that the point of my trials has always been merely to share MY experience with products (as someone with acne-prone, dry skin) vs to tell you what you must do with your own skin.
    I tend to be a bit more sensitive to fragrance. If these products work for you, that is great! On the other hand, if you're acne prone like I am, you might want to consider at least patch testing before you commit to a routine.
    Thanks for watching 😊

    I love that you can be honest about reviews cause after all you have to true to you and your subscribers. I am a huge fan of Lancome. I have tried almost every skin and makeup from high end to drug store and by far Lancome has been the best for me and best quality. I have extremely sensitive and dry skin and only Lancome products work for me. I get most of my products from Macy’s when they are on 15% off. I also get them one product at a time and you don’t need much per use so your products last months and months. I see it as an investment for my body and face.

      I totally agree! And Lancome was first a perfume shop made with the roses from a castle from their family. Their signature is to add light fragrance in their products.

    • @wendyjiang6624
      @wendyjiang6624 4 года назад +2

      AC Musicotherapie yea I know, but being a fan of it, I feel like they can just half the amount of fragrance in each product. It’s kind of too strong, where I can smell my mascara after applying it. And I can kind of smell it the whole day. But anyway, I’m already onto my fifth one, coz it’s good lol

      People like you don't really know much about about science. Lancome genefique is water down vitamin C that lightens dark spots, and the plumping and smoothing effect is achieved by the bifida ferment lysate. Just try Clinique's clear hydration gel it feels and smells just like genefique.

    I’m 26 and I just recently tried some creme testers by Lancôme and I really like their stuff! It’s a bit too expensive for me to buy at the moment, because I’m unemployed. But in the future I will try to buy from them again. Such nice quality! Shiseido, Dior, Lancôme and Sensai are the best luxury brands for makeup and skincare in my opinion! I just usually stick to drugstore options because I can’t afford those brands but from time to time I treat myself and whenever I get something from them I’m always pleasantly surprised, while the drugstore stuff are sometimes very disappointing to say the least :(

    I have been using Lancome since high school and I am now 57, but I have never had good results with their moisturizers and not for lack of trying. I just tried the premium bx and it sits on top of my skin and my face sweats. 85% of my makeup and skincare is Lancome and my skin looks amazing. Yes, I have crows feet and impression lines, but Lancome has always been my tried and true, just not the moisturizers.

    So glad I came across your channel!! This was SUPER informative and to the point, and I REALLY APPRECIATE that!! Great Job!! I too struggle with finding products that are alcohol free, and sometimes end up caving and buying them out of frustration or lack of a product that has similar ingredients but no alcohol. I have combination skin and ance prone skin, and balance is a STRUGGLE!! I have found that focusing on moisturizing, and not ance seems to be better for my skin. When I use products for ance, my acne gets sooooooo much worse. It's strange, but since stopping all the acne treatments, creams ect...I've had less and less issues with acne. Anywhoo...New Sub here!! GREAT VIDEO!! 😘❤

    I received a sample tube of the Regenerie Lift Multi-Action Ultra “sunscreen,” so I was hoping to hear your opinion on it. I’ve already used almost all of it up, and even though I liked it, I was surprised to hear that it is a chemical sunscreen! I’m SO glad I didn’t use it under my eyes!
    I’m still disappointed about my favorites sunscreen spray by Baby Organics. It’s the only drugstore sunscreen that doesn’t pill up under my makeup. Halfway tempted to use it up and the backup before they both expire before purchasing something else. The Tatcha sunscreen looks wonderful, and the reviews are good, but the price makes me hesitate.

    Thanks for your honest review, you are so right, we all have to agree to disagree. I feel bleh about other people's raves and that's ok, what might work for some wont work for others. I actually am a huge fan of Lancome. You are right, they are very pricey but for those whose only con is the price, now is the best time to get ahold of their best products. If you spend $35 at Macy's you get their Genifique, moisturizer and lots of other goodies for free.

    Thanks for Ur review. I haven't been using lancome for a while and only just went back to it. I only looked up reviews on there products to find out whether I should bother waisting more money on the other products I haven't tried but u have made me want to find better alternatives. What products do u use or recommend that have the same active products in them as the lancome products u reviewed and what was that other brand u mentioned had the same active ingredients as the absolue products again it was a brand that started with v. Thank you for Ur review. It's definitely made me think twice. I have just literally spent 465 AUD on lancome products in the last 2 weeks. I'm now considered taking some back.

      My skincare routine: ruclips.net/video/3GrM770_ynY/видео.html
      The glow is AHAs and the hydration is 2 things: consistent use of moisturizer and drinking water (so serious on that! Dehydration shows in the face, and most people don't drink enough water!)

    I went into a local store today requesting a product that actually works for under eye puffiness and fine line wrinkles. It was the lancome counter and the prices of their products our like ouch. If they actually work then great. But if not then i'm sure there our other products out there that really do work. I spent $54.00 on one product and a lil pricey for half ounce and did not work. I have to say your skin looks amazing so what products would you recommend? Thank you...

  • @ryanmae808
    @ryanmae808 4 года назад +1

    The absolue bx made my face and under eyes burn...and I don’t have sensitive skin. I’ve used the Renergie and I don’t see any difference at all on my skin. They have two older eye creams called progres and high resolution that I actually think are better. I have felt like their eye serum though in the absolue line is legit in impacting the under eye area and their new absolue soft cream that was launched about 6 months ago is a vast improvement to that line (although they still have the bx) ...to me the real winners in Lancome skincare is the visionnaire crescendo 28 day treatment and their new retinol cream is a great starter product for those who are new to retinol, I believe it’s .2%. But yea it’s interesting how a major power house like L’Oréal basically uses marketing and packaging to manipulate our perception and psyche to justify paying more for essentially the same thing. 😋

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 года назад +1

      Funny you mention the Visionnaire treatment, one of the Lancome employees at my department store was just telling me about that! But yeah, my concern with Lancome is the fragrance - something I didn't think much of at the time I filmed this, and now realize just how much it can affect end results!

  • @PotterSpurn1

    I appreciate that you have done a lot of research and do know your products and give an unbiased review. That is all great. All the same, I'm doubtful about the benefit of your reviews for these skin care lines. You skin is likely to react to some of these products differently than they would do for other skins. So how does your reviews help other viewers to decide what they should buy and ignore? Ultimately, skin care is very personal and it is up to each of us to trial and error before we find one we want to continue using. No reviews are going to help here on what works and what doesn't.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  4 года назад +1

      Totally agree. I hope I emphasize enough that my reviews are merely one person's results (granted, unbiased, not a commercial, unpaid by the brand etc). I don't think any one person can ever really give anything other than that, but viewers can watch/read more than one review and hopefully have an idea of a bigger picture. That's really all I can hope for!

I am now 50 and work for Estee Lauder and Ive worked for about 5 other lines. Its mostly hype. Cant use most of Lauders products so I seel a product I cant use. Fabulous. Trying out Lancome now. • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 года назад

      I wouldn’t say I’m an expert - just someone who recorded their own skincare journey, and in so doing, realized my skin is prone to irritation, and my biggest problem is inflammation. It’s odd: you don’t hear that often. It’s usually “I have acne” or “I want to decrease sun spots” - but what’s the root cause of these problems? Often, it’s inflammation.
      As such, I do best with lower fragrance/anti-inflammatory products
      And so top two: Cosrx snail mucin and I’m From Honey mask. Both are fragrance-free and help with healing!

    If the alcohol your referring to in the products is cetyl alcohol just know that it is a fatty alcohol derived from whales originally, but palm/coconut oil now. Yes, alcohol is bad for the skin but thats not the case for l alcohol because there are certains alcohols that are naturally produced and deprived in plants as well. A product having alcohol in it is nto enough to consider it harsh/bad, you need to do your research on he type fo alcohol.

    I got the Energie de vie moisturizer in my Sephora Play box. It dried out my skin & stung like pouring rubbing alcohol in an open wound. I also take issue with the packaging of Lancôme’s skin care. Anything that’s exposed to air & light repeatedly, will be rendered useless long before it’s used up.

    I appreciate your advice but everywhere I research, say the same as you.
    I am disappointed because I just ordered it but will end up sending it back. Your 100 percent correct alcohol and frangence is nit what a person wants in a serum.
    Not to mention the price point. The doctors are saying the same as you. They don't recommend this product.

    I bought a $2 makeup remover (Voeu brand) from the supermarket. Then I happened to get a gift with purchase from Lancôme that contained their makeup remover.
    I compared the two and they had THE SAME FIRST THREE INGREDIENTS! So basically they were the same and I noted they performed the same, just the Lancôme smelt nicer.

      Hi, I’m in Australia and it was a newly stocked brand in the supermarket. The brand was called Voeu. Made in China and it smelt terrible so I would never purchase again. But like I said it was exactly like the Lancôme in looks, ingredients and performance.
      I wear waterproof mascara everyday because of allergies and I’ve tried a lot of makeup removers. The best I’ve found is the Garnier Clean Sensitive 2 in 1 (it’s the blue one). I use this on my eyes and then any sort of oil, such as grape seed oil or olive oil, on my face and wipe off with a warm face washer to remove my makeup. Then I cleanse with my Clarisonic.
      Hope this is of help. I hate spending money on cleansers too.

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole Apparently the 3 lipsticks are the same even though they look different to me whether or not u chose the hynose drama or the definicils .And the palette with the hypnose drama has the better shade eyeshadow palette more like purple / berries.But both hypnose drama reg.and waterproof were miserable failures for me basically every mascara except the definicils has smudged under my eyes like where people do the baking but I don't becuz I hate looking dry. It will have the genifique or however u spell that serum and the eye cream the mascara primer. I can't remember what else! I don't think there were any juicy tubes.the box that it is stored in comes in like a tall round container that's divided in the center.That's probably it becuz that would be 8 items .And I think that's usually how many they include.Btw the lipstick are a light nude,a pink/ red,and and red/ brown maybe like a plum color not sure? But like I said she said they are supposed to be the same whether u chose hypnose drama or difinicils! I don't want the hypnose but I like the colors of the eyeshadow palette better! I noticed on the Macy's website they have a juicy tubes combo where u can buy those and two lipsticks sets the reds and the nudes for 40. They're the color design lipsticks.Right now Macy's is having 15%off the beauty dept.til the 23rd of this month.hope this helps.

      Thank you so much! I love hypnose drama, but I totally know what you mean - I get around it by adding a tiny amount of powder onto my lashes over the mascara. I wonder if a shadow primer would help! The girl at the lancome counter asked if I blink hard? I don't think I do.I like to experiment with things .I also like to organize my skincare/ makeup.Like doing one brand of nail polish on 1 hand and another on the other.I did chanel and Mac.If I remember correctly the Mac won!And I used to like doing swatches.But I learned that they're unreliable .They will look different on u for some reason! But I will do them for highlighters, lipsticks ,gloss, shadows.i know this may seem obvious but needs to be said anyways!U shouldn't have to struggle to get good pigment and u should still see it when u blend it in.One of the reasons I don't like drugstore make up is becuz the pigmentation sucks.Why bother?And too faced really sucks too! There was probably about one handful of their stuff that I liked! The rest is garbage! The best eye shadow primer is tarte creaseless.but they quit selling it,/making it
      I'm not really a smashbox fan.The shadow finishes annoy me.But the be legendary creams were decent last time I tried them.I heard Sephora got a lot of returns on the always sharp liners. Ever since I tried the too faced melted latex I hate stuff that is sticky.In case u haven't tried it it's basically a liquid lipstick but it's sticky and hella annoying! Someone one day and it was obvious she didn't blend in her highlighter! I'll tell u she attracted attention but not in a good way. Btw have u tried the new benefit cookie highlighter? Apparently it's pretty popular! I've seen a set that has Watts up ,the Pearl primer which I have no clue why it got that name! It was so dimiticone- ish and loathe dimiticone! Nothing shimmery about it! And it came with the dandelion twinkle! It's like $46/$47 at Macy's. Don't forget About the 15%off!

    Such a shame they put so fragrance in, I react violently to most fragrance skincare (but not all). My co-worker in her 70's buys has purchased a Lancome $400 moisturiser for the last 15 years here New Zealand. Her skin does actually glow without any age spots. She economizes in many areas to afford this, like almost exclusively buying 2nd hand clothes, but she thinks organic food and this Lancome moisturiser is a necessity to aging beautifully. Still has mega deep wrinkles but the way she glows like a pearl in the moonlight without any makeup on is really impressive.

    It's amazing that they charge so much for jar packaging/ it's unstable breaks the ingredients down fast. I don't believe jar packaging does anything but hydrate. I've never seen an eye cream in jar packaging do anything for my undereye lines. I got one from Bobbi brown and origins the brightening one that both irritated the heck out of my skin! Besides I believe they sell one serumfrom lancome I think for $ 400.00 for one measly once! Big whoop! I go between Estee Lauder and lancome I was more loyal to Estee Lauder but I did try other brands too.I got some stuff from the body shop that's also owned from Loreal that's making a huge difference on my skin!I believe every cream should be anti- wrinkle minimum.Estee Lauder starts with certain benefits in their moisturizers and the next one has that and more and so forth.

    I don’t understand why you feel the need to do what you do. Have you been to a Lancome lab. Have you done research with users across the board of Lancome. I think that would be useful . You could also give credit that Lancome in Europe is not tested on animals and there is no lead in their products as in other brands.
    Thanks for replying btw.

      These trials were always a way of me sharing one person's experience. I guess if you're interested in the backstory:
      I had problem skin starting in my early 20s. Acne AND dryness. It sucked royally. And a lot of reviews were confusing me - I'd hear wonderful things about a brand, but on my skin? Complete disaster! Worse than before I started using the products, but $300+ less money in my bank 😭
      So i started doing these reviews! In the end (?), I've fallen madly in love with brands like Cerave, the ordinary, and even elf skincare! It turns out that I do better with very short ingredients lists and simple ingredients.
      I totally understand if you don't like it, and I totally understand loving Lancome for the record! But regardless, thanks for watching and know I do appreciate your feedback. Hope you have a great rest of your week ☺️

      AliceintheRabbitHole Hi and thanks so much for replying. I do like what you do. I,m an advocate of free speech and saying it how you find it. I was just interested to find out more.. I can’t imagine the agony of having acne . It’s emotionally and socially draining. It’s interesting to hear and to be honest I was shocked when I heard what yourself and others were saying about Lancome products. For me I’m about twenty years older than I look and it’s because of my skincare. Personally I think a lot of skin behaviour is genetic but I learnt so much from Lancome about caring for your skin and for me their products genuinely work. But I can understand how for many people they wouldn’t. I’m a big fan of Miele cucumber masks. Have you tried them. Anyway that’s it. Just wanted to assure you that I was just interested and wasn’t being rude or nasty as I know many people can be on here. Take care keep safe and well.😊
