Dyslexia and the Inner Critic - Richard Hogan

  • As part of Dyslexia Awareness Month, the Dyslexia Association of Ireland welcomed a special guest, Richard Hogan, for a webinar on Adult Dyslexia and the Inner Critic on October 14, 2021. Richard Hogan is a systemically trained Family Psychotherapist registered with The Family Therapy Association of Ireland. He writes every Thursday for the Irish Examiner where he explores mental health issues for teenagers, couples and families. He has been invited by Trinity College Dublin to undertake a PhD exploring how to introduce systemic theory into the Irish and American educational system. Richard was recently awarded a Fulbright scholarship for his research into promoting inclusion in Irish and American schools. Richard is a regular contributor to both TV and Radio. Richard is also the author of the best-selling book, “Parenting the Screenager, a practical guide for parents of the modern child”, and is an active Ambassador for the Dyslexia Association of Ireland.
    In the webinar, Richard speaks about his personal experiences of dyslexia, his journey so far, and how best to manage dyslexic strategies into adulthood. Richard also shares some practical tips on how to foster resilience and boost self-esteem whilst silencing our inner critic.

    Not everybody that is dyslexic / neuro divergent is ashamed of themselves, what tosh, this projection of the speakers experience onto others is a tad self indulgent, but hey he can build his "profile" up I guess.
