Those who knew and a fan of Chick Corea and Al Jarreau - God rest their souls, would love this treat. Filipinos and Indonesians are equally musically and vocally talented. And I must say, insanely talented, although I can be bias here since both are home for me :). You can literally find natural talent almost in every corner of the street, and at times in the most unexpected or obscure situation. Singing and playing musical instrument - especially guitar, are a daily and social activity for many. Both are abundantly blessed with natural talents, and supporting social environment and industries - music/vocal schools as well as the entertainment industry, which helped to elevate these raw natural talents. Having said that, there is a distinct different between the two in my opinion. Filipino singers are more known or remembered for their power vocals, whilst Indonesian singers tend to be in a more mellow or understated performance. But don't get me wrong, I do not think one is better than the other, and both have those types of singer. I personally think our history and cultural characteristics play a role on this similar yet different state of the two nations. Indonesia and the Philippines - and also Malaysia, are like twins (Indonesia and Malaysia) and their other sibling (the Philippines) who grew up in different households and parental environments :) which make the three are so different, yet so similar. But that's another story to tell. Perhaps.
