He totally caught me by surprise while I was walking the show floor and heard him play. I am so happy I got to talk with him and he is the kind of musician that has the ability to endear himself by HIS love of the instrument and the enjoyment he gets from playing. Thank you for your nice comments. If Jeff is your inspiration, I'm sure you'll be as great a guitarist! Don't lose the FUN of playing and keep up the good work Speed!
Great player! The interview is so eager to ask as much as possible, I love it. And Jeff is lying about his 'school': his sound is quite crisp and accurate.
Thank you for posting this video! :) Jeff is definitely my biggest idol and influence on guitar. I've learned so many things about the guitar just from learning his songs. In fact, in 6 years I've played guitar, his style has taught me more than any other player's style for sure. Glad you got to meet him and that he took the time to answer your questions. I hope to meet him someday myself. :)
@whipcrackeraus Honestly I had no idea how big Jeff was because he was having so much fun while he was playing plus he was fantastic! Finding Jeff and having him be so sweet enough to be interviewed was the highlight of NAMM for me. Such a great player and sweet as well as humble.
who are you? I'm batman... or my name is waters, jeff waters aka canadian krafdiner lover he's such a great guy can't wait to meet him next month guitar clinics\m/
Thank you all for all the great comments!! I hope Jeff is back in Anaheim next week for the NAMM Show where I filmed this. I'll let him know that 20,000 fans loved the mini clinic! You all are terrific!!!!! Happy New Year!
I love his Canadian accent! Also, really likeable guy. Seems to have that true rock'n'roll vibe, not to mention he has fingers of gold that can cause a guitar to spontaneously combust from sheer ubershred!
I found it hilarious that you didn't know you were talking to arguably one of the best metal guitar players around. Fantastic that you know your stuff about guitars, but yeah, such a different world when it comes to metal :) He's one of the nicest guys in the industry too, just like Gene Hoglan (arguably one of the best metal drummers too)
Jeff Waters is definitely a god of Metal in my book! Just look at the talent that he's influenced. And if you really want to get down to it, Dave Mustaine asked him to join Megadeth in 1989 (Rust In Peace period anyone!!?) and 2004. So other than his amazing playing and composing skills, that should show you something right there!
@TheErnestoVidales any song from metallica's first 4 albums. same goes for megadeth, but dave's rhythms are a lot more technical, but that just means more practice to get better.
@TheErnestoVidales Pretty much any of the early Metallica as Jeff said. Early Anthrax is good too. Anthrax Caught In A Most is a good one. Halford - Resurrection is really good too!
@whipcrackeraus Thanks Whip. I met Slash a while back and he was another real sweetheart. I yelled at him because I couldn't beat him in Hard on Guitar Hero. LOL! You should've seen the look on his face! Then he asks me;"You play in Hard?" HA!! I never really got into metal at all until the game and now I play guitar & bass and having a blast!
@MFMOMX You'll find a lot of metal musicians are really nice people. I'd suggest to check him out on Roadrunner United 25th Anniversary Concert with Jeff in it :) The amount of praise that he gets from fellow musicians in the same field just goes to show how great he is. I really do envy you lol :P
@MFMOMX i mean Annihilator is so much better than Metallica. Metallica is so comercial band and i dont like it. and Jeff is much better guitarman than Kirk. Sorry for my weak english ;/
Kinda strange not to know who is Jeff Waters. But he was so humble, he wasn't upset for not knowing who he was.
You were lucky to meet him.
Such a likeable fellow! Jeff is really one of a kind. There are zero dislikes in this video for a reason.
A coolest guy on metal scene.
"keep practising, have fun"

Yeah! LOL, it was for my guitar students. LOL!
Fuck, he's so nice and kind Oo
remember something you forgot!
your ,your own style,as you said in the start :)
what song was the guy talking about in the beginning
If you wanna rhytm picking---try jon schaffer or rolf kasparek from iced earth and running wild !
@JaskoOjciec Why should they? I think Annihilator stands alone in what they do.
Any other song besides creeping death to practice down picking?
I do good leads but very poor rythyms
WHAT IS THE SONG OF THE SOLO AT 1:02?
what's the song at 4:50?
@meffcio thats cause hes canadian

1 MM dunlop! Same thing.....work great......

Creeping Death!:D
i think Metallica should support Annihilator ;-)
@MFMOMX i mean Annihilator is so much better than Metallica. Metallica is so comercial band and i dont like it. and Jeff is much better guitarman than Kirk. Sorry for my weak english ;/
Clearly the Metal scene wouldn't be that good without him.
