I can't imagine how a human being can be so intelligent and passionate about something this much. He's incredible and I echo the sentiments that I could listen to him talk all day without getting bored!

I like other actors. I love other actors. But I always get tired of hearing them do press tours and talk over and over about the same things and anecdotes. But with Andrew, it always comes out like honest and open and real, even new. This man is so special

Andrew Garfield is a magical beast. he performed brilliantly in Tick, Tick... Boom! and how he still looks like 23 when he's actually 38 is an enigma to me.

"I wanna reach the back row of the galaxy, wherever John may be and I want all of his heroes to be singing this damn song for him, in these epic, huge angelic choral harmonies, so that wherever he is, he can rest easy and he can hear it". That quote from Lin broke me

One part that really touched me was Garfield's story about the party scene during the lockdown. I remember a time at the height of the AIDS epidemic. One reason I started going to my church was that near the front a big banner that said: "Our Church Has AIDS." I wanted a church but I really couldn't, in good conscience, go to a church if people I loved weren't welcome. My best friend lived with her cousin who had AIDs. At those church services, we would pass the peace. The priest once remarked at a dinner party, "The peace here stops just short of intercourse." So many of the guys needed to be touched, hugged, and embraced--we were all still uncertain about how AIDS was transmitted, and we needed to touch, hug, and embrace them. Touching was such an important part of communicating unconditional love and acceptance. Maybe, I was standing in for someone's mother or sister. Maybe I was someone's mother or sister at the time. I still remember being enveloped in aftershave as I hugged someone whose cheek was hot with fever, and the hugs were tight and long--and I moved on to the next long hug. When "time" was finally called I would go back to my seat, smelling on me the sacred incense of aftershave and feeling the holiness of passing the peace. Holy sacred times. Many deaths. Many funerals. Yet, I can still smell the aftershave, fell the hot cheeks, and those guys are still alive to me. Lin knew about making sacred spaces in this film, and Andrew Garfield recognized them.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate Andrew sharing so much about his experience with Tick, Tick, … BOOM! In many ways, I felt the same from the film, coming away feeling a deeper sense of urgency to use the previous time I have to create and share meaning. Such a great piece of art!

I love the way you express the passion, and what Jonathan must have felt. You played it brilliantly. I also like the references to Van Gogh, and how he was similar as an artist to Jonathan, and really any artist who feels there is not enough time. Keep on keeping on.
