Lebbeke : Mariaprocessie

Hemelvaartdag vandaag , dus trokken we naar de kerk van Lebbeke, want daar was het vandaag processie.
De Mariaprocessie is een jaarlijkse rondgang door de centrumstraten van de gemeente Lebbeke.
De oorsprong ervan ligt in twee, sedert het eind van de 19e eeuw, traditiegetrouwe processies welke Lebbeke rijk was (de Bid- en boeteprocessie op O.H. Hemelvaart en de H. Sacramentsprocessie). Sinds enkele jaren werden beide tot één grote processie samengevoegd, die een mooi geheel vormt en die traditiegetrouw doorgaat op O.H. Hemelvaartdag, sedert 1871 traditiegetrouw dè bedevaartdag tot O.-L.-Vrouw van Lebbeke.
Het bedevaartsoord van O.-L.-Vrouw van Lebbeke is trouwens het oudste nog bewaarde bedevaartsoord van het bisdom Gent.
Op het einde van de Mariaprocessie, wordt het beeld van O.-L.Vrouw en het H. Sacrament meegedragen en kunnen de toeschouwers zich vrijblijvend vervoegen in de processie en al biddend meestappen.
Zonder corona zou het dit jaar de 151ste Mariaprocessie geweest zijn.De bedoeling is om volgend jaar opnieuw een volwaardige processie aan te bieden, maar voor de editie dit jaar was beslist om die beperkter te organiseren. De tijd was kort om dit voor te bereiden. Maar er was zoveel vraag naar dat ze de stoet toch hebben laten uitgaan.

Eng: Today was Ascension Day, so we went to the church in Lebbeke, because there was a procession there today.
The Mariaprocessie is an annual procession through the streets of the centre of the municipality of Lebbeke.
Its origins lie in two, since the end of the 19th century, traditionally faithful processions that Lebbeke had (the Prayer and Penance Procession on Ascension Day and the Blessed Sacrament Procession). Since a few years both have been joined into one big procession, which forms a beautiful whole and which traditionally takes place on Ascension Day, since 1871 the pilgrimage day to Our Lady of Lebbeke.
The pilgrimage site of Our Lady of Lebbeke is the oldest preserved pilgrimage site in the diocese of Ghent.
At the end of the Mariaprocession the statue of Our Lady and the Holy Sacrament is carried along and the spectators can join the procession without any obligation and walk along praying.
Without the corona, this year would have been the 151st Marian procession. The intention is to offer a full-fledged procession again next year, but for this year's edition it was decided to organise it in a more restricted way. The time was short to prepare this. But there was so much demand that they let the procession go ahead anyway.

It was the first time we went to see this procession. This edition was shortened due to too little time to prepare after 2 years of Corona. Thank you for your reaction, Gilberte.

Well done, be sure to film this year as well! Maybe explain why Mary is being carried around and why she is so important so young people can learn this.
