You just seem so enormously sympathetic and sensible, Sarah. I am old enough to be your mother (or much older sister at least), and I live halfway around the world from you, but I couldn’t possibly enjoy your videos more. Very inspiring stuff every time. 👌🏼
I am a very downsized senior , I went through your list tonight easily since much does not apply. I did go through my 600 square foot little ranch house and was able to find several items to donate to the local elementary. Quite a bit was just tossed/recycled. My hygiene and cleaning products are few and very simple. I think I will search for some items to donate to the local food bank tomorrow.
That can be very challenging, Cristina. I always try to think if there is someone I could regift those items to that might get more enjoyment out of it than me!
Hello there, just to share... For me... I will define my self bigger than the gift... Because, usually people gift us something base on who we are... & the real gift is being bless to meet them in this life... That the way I encountered with this feeling... peace.
Thank you, I see that this is an old video but I'm happy I found it. I am going to ask a group of friends if any of them want to join me in the challenge so I have some accountability. I volunteer with a nonprofit that will be able to accept a lot of the items that are decluttered to help refugees so there won't be any guilt about not selling usable items. They will find a better home.
Thank you for doing these videos. I feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of everything I need to declutter. I’m a new subscriber and feel decluttering is actually accessible to me now - one day and one step at a time 💜✨
Thanks! I am excited to do this. The first two weeks in September are absolutely crammed so I decided to set myself up for success and start this Oct. 1st. I can see myself doing this for several months, just keep restarting and working on it. I will make consistent progress without burning out or feeling like I have to have the attic totally cleaned out in one day! This will be so helpful, thank you!!!
Great challenge! This challenge would work for probably 80% of people. Would also love a challenge targeted toward those of us that have been decluttering / more minimal for years. That have done these types of challenges and been successful with almost all of our decluttering. Except we are holding onto those things that are difficult for us. A challenge that we could make our own. For example, I could go into all 30 days that you mention and would find it difficult to get rid of a lot of things (because I’ve done this so many times.) However, I do have some things that I know I’m holding onto that I need to move on from. One example, are the 5-7 handbags that I’ve already agreed to declutter that are designer bags that I know I need to sell but I just haven’t gotten the energy to sell so they are sitting in a room waiting for me to post them online. I also have some books that is also something I need to find the best way to sell it that I’ve already agreed I want to declutter, but I know these are unique and have value. I don’t know where to sell/bring these pieces to sell them. I also have several items that I have agreed to declutter that are waiting to be brought to Goodwill but I haven’t because they aren’t just bags of clothes, but are larger furniture pieces and are more difficult to transport. So maybe a more generic challenge in the future - Day 1 - “Declutter 3 items that you have found difficult to declutter in the past” Day 2 - Sell or give away an item you think has a higher dollar value that you don’t use.” Day 3 - “Make a trip to the donation center” etc. So that we can make the challenge our own.
I hear you, Alexa! I want to create more resources that are targeted specifically for those who are more advanced in their decluttering journey...your comment has given me some more motivation to work more on that. I think I will shoot for a few of these in the monthly challenges for the course!
Set a time for 15 minutes a day to declutter. Stop when timer goes off. You would be surprised how much you could get accomplished when there is a timer
Judy's Bakery and Test Kitchen Agree 100% for me it’s more than just the timer, it’s psychological - I only have to do this for 15 min. Most times I end up cleaning or decluttering for 30-45 minutes with this method.
Just came across one of your videos for the first time...this is now my 3rd and they are fantastic! I’ve watched hundreds of videos on decluttering and minimalism and yours are the only ones that give me the confidence that it’s actually achievable. Thanks for making them, I can’t wait to print out the workbook and start the challenge!
Welcome to the channel, Harley! I'm so happy to hear that my videos help you believe it is achievable! It is indeed! I hope the workbook is helpful and let me know if you have any questions!
Dear Sarah, thank you a lot for this informative video. I would love to start decluttering this year and continue to do it in 2020! Thank you for making this process smooth and so understandable. Greetings from Germany!
Thank you Sarah for your message. I frequent the local Library each and every day and this is where i sit and listen watch and learn about Minimalism and your videos. i have seen others videos but i particularly like yours. You make the strategies clear and understandable. i pause the videos alot to write everything down. Thank you again and and again and again. never stop posting. You are changing my life and thousands more lives. I live in Australia NSW in a smallish country town called Orange. We are just coming to the end of winter. Take care and be well.
Hi Sarah It looks like you put a lot of heart and soul into this content. Helpful information if you're just starting out on your journey or you're stuck. Thanks 👍👍

I will now follow the 30 day challenge! I am so thankful because you have made the mindwork, and I can follow the steps in the Pdf in small steps day by day. Once again, thank you!
Thank you for the workbook. I need the help to declutter! I have a very hard time with books, scrapbook supplies, digital clutter, baking pans and cookbooks. Sure could use some more how to, it gets overwhelming at times. I have made progress in other areas and I have learned to celebrate those things. You have gotten to a comfortable level with your journey with minimalism that it looks so easy.
You are so welcome, Colleen! It is great to hear that you have made some progress so far! I know it might look easy now, but I definitely struggled earlier on in the journey too! Good luck and keep pushing! You've got this! :)
Thanks so much for this! On others decluttering.... I am finding that this is happening naturally but slowly. My husband asked me to help him clean the garage. I am not touching his stuff, other than cleaning it and the area under (sweeping). He has some medical issues, but so sometimes I work while he rests. We set up areas as we go for different items like cleaning, snow removal/ brooms/ tools, and I put like with like. It has really helped and we have started getting rid of unneeded things. We even went to chemical Day in our county last weekend with those little bits of leftover stains, pesticides, etc. After reflection, I think my cluttering was unconsciously causing him to clutter and he likely said why bother? Now he is returning to his natural self because I have started getting my clutter gone! Thanks so much for your videos!!!! They are really helping me in so many ways. Katy
I usually declutter at least one item a day, for many years now. But I am keeping your list in my head as a go about my day. I have very little by ways of electronics, no media, less than thirty books. I will be giving away my furniture and dishes to sons that want the items over the next few years. I have one physical photo album. I live in a little 600 square foot ranch house.
I am dreading going through old files but you gave me hope as you suggested looking forward and not letting more paper get disorganized! Great idea!! Thank you!
Sarah again i adored this video post. I have started a notebook of your tips and ideas and Minimalism strategy s etc. I am looking ao forward to the next video posting. Thank you Sarah for changing lives for the better. Sending love and light x
I just wanted to thank you so much for all your content and videos. I have been knee deep in decluttering/minimizing for a few years, but you have really helped get me past a plateau and have made me excited for it again. I have listened to a lot of your videos, but can't wait to check out more (including this workbook). I really appreciate you and all that you are doing!
Hi Sandra! I'm so happy to hear that! If you'd like to start now, I just put together a fun bingo challenge that might help: www.abundantlyminimal.com/bingo
I love the motivation I get from your videos to tackle my clutter. I wish I was able to print the list. Regardless I am happy to find your channel. Only one thing I observed that it seems ironic when minimalist promoters tempt struggling souls by offer of a Bundle of their materials half the price and as needed at a full price. Maybe it’s a test 😢 to see if you can really control yourself and only get what you need? I completely understand it is a business and everyone has bills to pay. This was just an observation because my past self would have bought a bundle and then came across it while trying to decluttter a year later !
I totally get that, Kavita! The irony of it to me is that the free printable guide is no longer available because I had to shut down or cancel all of my paid services and website with Abundantly Minimal and essentially "go out of business" since I wasn't making enough money to justify the cost and effort. Others make it work but what I offered for a price didn't resonate.
I think I made a great deal of progress over the past 8 months. I still need to work on photos and my basement. These areas will take me most of the time. My biggest challenge is sentimental items, especially cards, some gifts, photos, kids drawing etc. I recently discovered “junk journaling” and think i will place my favorite photos and drawings in one of those. My first priority is to minimize!
I'd also like a more advanced version of this for already minimised people! and I find digital decluttering difficult and I don't think enough people take it into consideration, would you be able to make one of these challenges purely based on digital?
Thanks for the feedback, Rachael! I actually run a minimalism challenge group that will cover digital and paper resources in May and advanced decluttering strategies in July!
Sarah: I am ready to get rid of my old dollar store paint for new high quality paint!! I keep most pieces for my mom; she tells me to "keep it." I ask myself, "Am I keeping this for me or my mom?" I also do not like keeping or looking at cheap things. I am getting rid of my low quality miniature San Francisco train for a better quality one; I asked my mom for it but is CHEAP and it falls apart; it is not worthy of hot glue or any glue to repair it. I would prefer to remember my favorite city and my late uncle and cousins with an upgrade. I purchase most of my home decor from thrift stores. Thrift stores carry high quality goods like vintage and retro items for inexpensive prices. As I streamline my art supplies, I will have more room for my home decor!!
Sarah: My mom is a hoarder; I am not allowed to touch her stuff. My mom screams and yells when I tell her I got rid of some items. Her cardboard boxes full of teacher days materials prevents me from having a craft table and extra storage space for my art supplies. I do create on the floor for kinesthetic awareness but my body can become numb which can be painful. How do I be a role model for my mother when it comes to downsizing or minimalizing my belongings? My mom even hoards empty cardboard boxes.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this, Jennifer Ann. I don't think it is good to deal with someone else's stuff without their permission, but if she was screaming and yelling in response, that sounds like meaningful dialogue won't really happen. Keeping your items as minimal as possible would be the best way to be a role model.
I'm pretty happy with how minimalist most of my possessions are, but the areas I struggle to get control of are books, digital photos, paperwork & craft supplies. I only own 38 pieces of clothing, 4 plates/bowls/cups, a laptop & smartphone, etc so I have no issues maintaining minimalism in my living space. However I have books I "need" to read but can't seem to find time. Paperwork & crafting inventory are related to business & require I hold onto these items. It seems to accumulate so quickly! I find it exhausting to deal with and so I tend to avoid purging and just organize. I currently keep track of 4 separate businesses that make up my income and the paperwork and inventory can drive me crazy!!
I completely relate to a lot of what you mentioned! I also have some books that are on a waiting list to read, as well as a lot of the digital clutter too. I wish you the best with dealing with these challenges!
Maybe if you're a Kindle user, try selling the books you need to read and send a free sample to your kindle so you have the list and any time you actually get to reading one, you can buy and read
Interesting enough Sarah as I watching this I was going through my souvenirs from my last international trip in 06. Thankfully I didn't have to get rid of anything just consolidate. Hoping your day is going well and thanks for all you do! 😊
Looks like Im going to have to deal with those remaining files after all.😁 I thought I had pretty much decluttered and was mainly on the upkeep stretch but now thinking about your 'huge'🙀 list😉😁 it looks like Im going to need to do it all over again. Argh! ............👍🤣 * There is one thing I noticed doing all this decluttering.... I found hardware for maintenance jobs that hadnt been done. I made a list and am now crossing off each job when its done. I crossed off 5 jobs in one week. GO ME🤣 I have 8 more jobs left on the list.
It sounds like you are making amazing progress! 5 jobs in one week is awesome! The list is long since it is spread out over a month...for most I am guess some days will be on the easier side, and perhaps some will be more difficult.
Hi Michelle! I put them in order with what I felt like were easier tasks upfront, and more difficult tasks towards the end, but of course you can switch the days around if you want!
Hi! What about art work/ doodles, that my kids have made throughout the years- such as at school, etc….I feel guilt throwing any of it today. But, as you know as a former teacher, kids come home with art work all the time, lol
That is a tough topic, but I would recommend getting the kids involved and showing them the collection of work and ask them about which ones are their favorites! There could also be a conversation about needing to open up room for future art projects!
I tried the link but my security says might be impersonating you. Is this the correct link. I tried again and won’t even take me there. Says the link is bad
This is all great, I downloaded the workbook last month. However, it would be much easier to follow your video if you broke up your video a lot more. I see the instructions in the workbook, but I am an audio person. I don’t want to need to listen to most of the video for Day 20, for example. I will give the video a like, but I see ways to improve the project. Thank you.
Just tried to download the 30 day challenge and my computer gave me a warning it is not a trusted website, I know better as I am sure your website is trustworthy. Have you heard of anyone else getting this message. So bummed!
I'm so sorry to hear this, Delora! I did just check on multiple browsers, and they were working fine. If you send me an email at sarah@abundantlyminimal.com I can email you a copy directly!
I don't really have much to declutter anymore, but you can check out my old anti-haul videos where I show what I declutter each month here: ruclips.net/p/PL_VqNjkvxmw9EMRRSlhx54S4Q29LE3Axg

Helt enig Katrine. I absolute enjoy watching your videos Sarah. At least you have two fans from Norway. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much, Iris!
I got up and started decluttering again.

This is wonderful, Jeanne! It's great you were able to find some additional items to let go of!

That can be very challenging, Cristina. I always try to think if there is someone I could regift those items to that might get more enjoyment out of it than me!

Getting rid of some tools and clothes definitely resonates with me as I have a bit to eleminate
Thank you, Sarah. I have printed out the Decluttering Schedule. Slowly, very slowly we will go down the list.

* There is one thing I noticed doing all this decluttering....
Ugh I needed this! My office looks like a storage closet right not, I cannot even go in there and work 😕
I hope it will be helpful, Elsa!
Amazing video 💕💕💕 thank you 🙏😊
You are so welcome, Lana!
Is there a reason behind the order in which we do the steps? I'm looking forward to decluttering!
Hi Michelle! I put them in order with what I felt like were easier tasks upfront, and more difficult tasks towards the end, but of course you can switch the days around if you want!
Very good Sarah I was thinking that I've pretty much done decluttering but day 1, 2, 3, 4,... are things I need to look at. Lol
Thanks, Carys! I'm glad the challenge could be helpful! :)
@@AbundantlyMinimal , great advice! Thanks!!
This is a great video, with lots of helpful content! Love it! Congrats!
Thank you so much, Julie!
Hello, I am the one with 10K photos🙋🏼♀️😅.
It's hard to get rid of movies 'cvd's they still come in handy when wifi is out'
I tried the link but my security says might be impersonating you. Is this the correct link. I tried again and won’t even take me there. Says the link is bad
Hello! Was this the link you used: abundantlyminimal.mykajabi.com/declutteringchallenge
It is working on my end.
5ats okay, thanks for responding
Hello Sarah - The free workbook link says it cant complete request.
Hi Priscilla! I just tested it on my end and it is still working. Perhaps you didn't check the box that you consent to receive email?
@@AbundantlyMinimal I did check it.
@@osajohnson1957 Rats! How about you send me an email at sarah@abundantlyminimal.com and I'll email it to you myself?
It won’t work for me either.
Great video
Thank you, Deeanna!
Thank you.
Great feedback, Judy! Thanks!
What program is that on your computer at 11:00?
I'm not sure, as that is a stock image.
I keep an old rusted horseshoe in my car, for good luck.
I love it!

Hello my new friend.nice idea.am sending you my support.i hope you do too friend.
I enjoy your videos but I find they are too long. It might be better to divide them into smaller segments so people don’t become disinterested.
Thanks for the feedback, Irene! I create a variety of video lengths...this one happens to be one of the longest!
Not the type of video I thought this was going to be. Thought you were going to actually get rid of stuff.
I don't really have much to declutter anymore, but you can check out my old anti-haul videos where I show what I declutter each month here: ruclips.net/p/PL_VqNjkvxmw9EMRRSlhx54S4Q29LE3Axg
No ..... no...... no ...... no...... no
