Hell of a score for $50. Great job cleaning it up. For $50, I probably would have went gone hard core and stripped the finish and turned it into a refinish project.
Good stuff. I'm not a luthier or anything however, like to take lesser known brand finds, work'em and play'em on stage. Almost....always sound great! Love you work bro.
Never owned a BC don't know much about them but ESP has the bridge pickup volume set at the 1st knob. The idea is that most metal/rock guitarist use the bridge pickup more and they wanted to have the volume control as close to your picking hand as possible.
Pawn shops aren’t allowed to sell a guitar right away, maybe Canada has different rules..in the U.S. I believe it has to be held for 30 days before it could be resold
I have an 83 B.C.Rich Bitch, N.J Series. Different headstock, it's pointy. It's a Metalic red and headstock is black. It's definitely Nagoya made. Bought it about 15 years ago for $175 with the proper case at a Thrift store. When I got it it was mint and looked like it never came out of the case. It's still in good shape. I don't play it much anymore, but it is a hell of a player. About 2 years ago a friend offered me $500 but I'm not selling it.
Cleaned up nice. I wouldn't touch the finish. I would as you said swap out that high dollar pup and maybe try to find another original to put in it and sell the guitar if I don't like the neck.
Remove stickers with mild heat, like a hair dryer some distance away. YMMV WD40 is a decent goo remover but make sure it doesn't hurt the finish on an invisible spot first. Probably bad idea for nitro finish.
Peace of advice on poor quality paper back sicker removal. Penatrating oil works amazing. Will not hurt the paint and will remove all the glue perfectly. Try it and let me know what you think
Nice guitar. Do you think the case originally came with it? It isn't a common shape, not in the UK any way; surely a sign of a quality instrument. The colour reminded me of a few guitars We saw in a music shop around '78/'79, whilst I was at college in Canterbury, Kent. They were painted in bright fluorescent colours with carved fronts and were extremely thinned out at the edges, with humbuckers and, I think, trems, they looked striking. I thought they might be Yamahas, but can't find them in a search.
Definitely an aftermarket case. Maybe they were Ibanez guitars (neon ones)? Although that might have been before they were making those models. Maybe Kramer
I Will put a sticker on whatever I want, and it will be whatever quality the sticker company used. Can you imagine asking a band for a sticker and then saying "Is it high quality sticker material bro?" and the band member will say "fu*k off dude". Jesus...if it didn't have stickers on it, you would have paid $100 for it....
Limited-time deal: Durable Soldering Station, 392℉-896℉ Smart Temperature Control, 60W Soldering Iron Station Soldering kit with Solder Bracket Removable, Cleaning and Heat- Resistant Sponge a.co/d/6a1W3AV
Nobody really cares if on a guitar like this the pots or the pickups are original and even less if the soldering is original The best you can do for this kind of guitars is clean them, make sure the pickups work and the pots don't crackle and give it a good setup.
Those 80's guitars are now cheap and no one looks at them. In 10 years those will be collectible and the prices will start to rise. Bursts would be 1 million and the 80's would be hyped. Or that I am wrong...
I hate stickers. Bumper stickers? Dude, you're a stranger to me, I don't want to know anything about you. Now get the f*ck out of my way so I can drive! Stickers on guitars? That's like saying "Yeah, I'm not any good at guitar, and I never will be. I don't practice and haven't changed my strings ever." Now as far as the glue? Everyone is recommending caustic chemicals, WD-40 will work but the best way? Mineral oil. Your finish will thank you. Sorry to heat Colonel Sanders died. I didn't even know he was sick. Nothing like food in a bucket, it's way better than food from a dumpster. A MIJ BC from the 80's is a good score. They've gone downhill ever since the 90's.
@@boechlerguitarsandrepair Yes, most parts were made in Japan. But the entire guitar was assembled, set-up, tested & shipped from Korea.- But I'm just going off what Bernie Jr. told me when he gave me a NJ Ironbird in 86. Before 86, they could have been entirely done in Japan.
You scored a home run with this B.C. Rich!!!❤
Wow! You stole that! Nice job on the repairs! 😊👍
I can only dream of finding a second hand guitar for fifty bucks, nice find!
I found 4 for $20.00

Me too and fixed those blemishes in the top.

If it's pawned that's correct, but this guitar was sold

Hi Great guitar ...that type of bridge was also on the usa guitars...as i owned one..they were/are great playing guitars...Thanks,,,Dave
This is one that you should keep. You might regret selling it.
What a score man! I have a chip in my ibanez jem so I'm going to steal the way you touched up the paint!
Excellent bargain! With case, great playability, neck and looks, (it's what I look for, when I go shopping around) lucky dog!!
Whoever sold that didnt know what they had. My Japanese Ibanez pro V has that same style bridge pickup.
Beautiful guitar.
Lighter fluid takes that sticky crap off almost instantly. (Old graphic designer hack 👍🏼👍🏼)
Thanks!
Yup, and white spirit too. They don't harm nitro cellulose either.
Isopropyl alcohol
The case alone is worth double what you paid!
Excellent! i have to start doing this in my area!!
Nice find ! Just in case, WD40 do an amazing job to remove stickers residues..👍

heat gun or a hair dryer before trying to pull them off and goo gone wil take that residue off.
gotoh is a japanese company. at the time that guitar was made they were the only machine co. in japan capable of making those parts so it makes sense.
I was going to have a heart attack if it were neck through, still a great deal.
That was a good deal.👍
I don't know (by personnal experience) Goo Gone but lighter fluid (naphta) works really well on sticker residue.
Holy crap
SCORE!
... a goood heatgun to get off the stickers.
NICE....
Turn the switch around. fixed. I am available for consultation.
I thought the N stood for Nippon.
beautiul guitty
How could you resist playing it as soon as you got it out of its case.😮
An Eagle for 50 bucks?! Insane find. I ave always thought the Eagle was an underappreciated BCR model.
hair dryer to warm them up then WD40 to remove stickers
Leave the chips alone. Part of its history. Worth more left alone.
Pawn shops have to hold bought items for 30 days after buying. How can you pick it up as soon as it hit the counter?
Not everything that comes into a pawn shop is pawned. Sometimes people just sell

Definitely not better than usa ones

Did you sell this yet? I don't see it on reverb
Yeah, it sold
Just outta curiosity how much did you have it listed for? Before it sold?
yes, its a rip off, but if it was a reference to my One True King Jesus then its all good! lol.
It is a player. Why would you want to do body work?
I had the materials to fix it up a bit, I was happy with the result

I think you are correct. Prices on Kramers, Charvels etc. are already rising pretty high
This guitar is already worth at least 800$
If someone wants to give you $300 + for that ibanez pickup, you hurry up and do that!!!!!
sold!

Sorry but that is a Shiite sounding guitar.. that Ibanez is opaque and rattly.. only hope is to drive through a lot of junk..
Made in Korea, not Japan.
this is a made in Japan NJ series, it has a made in Japan stamp on the neckplate along with the machine heads etc.

Made in Nagoya Japan hence the n.j. series moniker
Imports before 87 are from Japan.
Korea made after the Japan Era.
Lots of BC Rich history periods that people get confused.
