He ruined his life and devastated so many others. Such a shame. He obviously needs mental health care and should have to pay for counseling of those who were devastated by the fire he started. Arsonists should be charged with attempted murder and spend the rest of their lives in prison. I lived through the "Old Fire" of 2003, the arsonist set the fire right above my house at the Panorama Point lookout on hwy 18 , it eventually took out the neighborhood of Del Rosa , burning all the way down to the 210 frwy. , destroyed over 400 homes and cost three people's lives and many pets. They never caught that arsonist.
Sad however, its still very careless for those who should be maintaining our forests, mountains and camp ground etc. with the very necessary fire control measures that were used 40+ years ago. Here we are, more homes, more taxes going to the many agencies etc. yet we get less for our money when it comes to state, county and local maintenance. Most of these fires would have been more controlled had the agencies done their homework with fire breaks and scrub removal like we had in the past. Sad part is, there are individual residences and commercial locations who do maintain their surrounding fire risks yet all of that goes down the drain because of the neglect in fire control from those who should be doing it. Its been many years that Southern California is high risk for fires yet the agencies in control today do very little to PREVENT the spread of wild fires. They are in a sense, just as guilty of all the damage as a result.
Might not be of any help to charge this guy with any prior fires he may have started due to the charges he will face in just this fire. If he is found guilty for just a couple of the current charges, he is going to be licked up for decades. Further charges to him can't hurt him much more.

I fought that fire from the beginning it was crazy.
