i think it depens on your playstyle, and also when do you want the "artillery knockdown" some will find it easier or more comfortable with cannon strat i guess.
it is worth it i'd say, to me the heavy artillery skill required for this strat is really useful both for the cannons and, most importantly, for doubling the roaming ballista's damages
