The concept of referring to black doom as shadow’s dad sent me wild. Shadow has two dads who were platonic parents, a lizard brother and is technically Eggman’s cousin by that logic.
In the actual game, Black Doom could be considered Shadow's *biological* father. If so, then Shadow would see the rest of the Black Arms as half-siblings.
Speaking of Eggman, since Gerald was the granddad of both him and Maria, online sources say Gerald's two grandchildren are cousins. Which is probably better than Eggman being Maria's brother.

Chase is so good at voicing villains it's unreal.
The reason he says “adultery” and also says “he thinks I’m a perver because I pissed on his wife” is because in the Sonic Adventures 2 fandub, Eggman was basically just sht on the entire time for no reason. Literally was stuck in a place for 3 years and came back to find team furaffinity took his wife from him.
I forgot that he was stuck underground for years 😭 Never thought I’d say this, but maybe Eggman was right to call Shadow out

I think the SnapCube fandubs have single-handedly managed to made me a Sonic fan, even though I know nothing about the series outside of the fandubs and some meme streams.
This fandub is honestly really *really* impressive to me, in terms of how they managed to create a tight plot with solid themes and motifs that also probably tie into the actual canonical Sonic characterization (Canon!Shadow probably being pulled in all sorts of directions and not really knowing how to define himself outside of the expectations of others vs Fandub!Shadow's having to define himself against the projections and parasocial role he's been placed in, time loops and incongruent memories as a metaphor for trauma/dissociation/depression, etc.) I think it's up there with the Until Dawn fandub in terms of "writing". The editing and greater focus on individual characters probably helped a lot here, but good god pulling something like that off in around an hour of improv is kinda ridiculous.
also the Final Haunt rap is a serious banger
Regarding why there was the whole time loop thing going on, the game had multiple different routes depending on how good or evil Shadow is. The fandub showed all the routes by saying its a timeloop, which I find pretty impressive in how well they pulled the whole thing off!
That's literally how I became a dragonball fan, exclusively from Team four stars parody videos. Funny how that works.
I’ve learned a lot more about sonic through the series as well. I’m also glad that some ppl could better explain jokes since, for example, I missed the “long time, no see” line in all the sonic games. Many jokes get better in reference to the OG series
@@ma.2089 Yeah like TBH I _do_ have a little foreknowledge from Lythero's streams of SA2 and Shadow (and DBFZ, weirdly enough), so it was kinda cool to see how the multiple-paths thing translated over. Alfred makes little cameos on the sonic streams there as well and it's really interesting to see lines get workshopped and then come back in full form in the fandubs - Eggman's comment about his mustache being made of grass originated in one of those streams actually.
Also, for those who don't know, Tail's voice glitch at the end there (having the same voice filter as Satan's high-intelligent and verbose dog) wasn't actually from the recording! It was a rendering/processing error that Penny couldn't figure out how to fix no matter what she tried - apparently editing and exporting the thing was a nightmare. A highly enjoyable nightmare for us viewers.

The replacement voices they got for Tails, Rouge, Knuckles, and Amy do a great job, and Chase's version of Black Doom is amazing!
Absolutely agree; Holly is an absolute treasure, and her take on Rouge is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever heard!

Snapcube's first real-time game fandub in two years after whole that whole shitshow with all the VAs leaving and being replaced by new ones, and I've got to say they really kicked it out of the park here.
Not all of them, just two specific VAs.

@@onearmedbandit84 there’s a page about it on the real time fandub wiki, I’d go get/find a link but the last time I tried the website wouldn’t load. More or less Amy/Knuckles (forgot their name) and Tails/Rouge (Blue) were pretty toxic or abusive, potentially even sexually harassing their co-workers, someone even used the term grooming in a different comment thread. Anyways after shit was hitting the fan and spreading among the masses and it was all going up in flames, the two of them split from clown house and stole a fuck ton of money on the way out. Anyways this puts a few of their dub lines in a very different light, especially SA2 hero story’s Amy line “one too many times is not enough”, which y’know… **the lion sleeps tonight begins to play.**
The end credits song is from the Final Haunt stage. Penny and Chase just added lyrics to it.

Holy hell, what a great reaction. I usually dislike most of reaction type content but that was just a very nice watch. Especially since you kept talking about how great some parts were and why they were meaningful to you. It's just always nice to look at someone having fun watching something you like with the same level of understanding of all the cool references and appreciate the voice acting and improv skills of the people involved in the project. I don't really get that when I show people one fandub and they just react to that one thing on it's surface level.
Although I was a little sad when you talked over some funny parts and missed a few moments, it was still an immensely engaging experience.

I recently got Shadow The Hedgehog for the GameCube, and was trying to set it up tonight. It ended up failing miserably, as my poor Wii won’t accept the memory card nor connect to any controllers. Ended up stumbling upon this when giving up, and honestly it’s made my night so much better. Thank you for saving my sanity tonight.

I watched both of your Destruction reactions so I was really glad to see your Shadow dub reaction in my recommended! Shadow dub is personally my favorite of their Sonic dubs, and I’ve probably seen it nine or ten times between rewatches, car listens, and reactions, and yours did not disappoint!
When I saw this in my recommended, I legitimately whooped. Such a joy seeing this dub live, and I am glad you were able to react.
Aaaaaa this was so fun to watch! Amazing reactions as always, I love how passionate you are about these. Penny’s covers are always so hype. All of the voice actors did such an awesome job?? Like they put so much emotion in their acting, especially Mr. Devil from The Bible. My favorite joke has definitely got to be ”you are what you eat, Sonic” it absolutely BROKE ME the first time I heard it. I think my favorite character overrall was the president.

in a way, black doom is kind of the devil. he’s the leader of a bunch of fucked up and evil aliens which are kinda demons a little bit. so he’s the devil and shadow’s dad if you think about it. I like to believe that the devil is shadow’s dad in the fandub canon too because it makes it funnier to me. He’s in a parasocial relationship with his own son. and black doom literally doesn’t tell shadow about it in most of the endings so it’s also in character
In the original, Black Doom literally has a form called Devil Doom.
But if he is the Devil, then Shadow is the Antichrist. But if he is the Antichrist, then he is Adam Young from Good Omens. Raised well enough to say nah to that shit and scream "you're not my dad!".

I'm in the process of actually playing this game now. I think going into it with low expectations and an open heart is the one way to actually enjoy it.
There's 327 ending paths, with 10 individual endings plus the true ending.
It all started with the Fan Dubs. Then came the Sonic Takeovers. Then came Sonic Frontiers. Then came IDW. What a wild journey to become a sonic fan, but here I am lmao I know more about Sonic lore than most things I should know in my field of work

The part at around 18:00 where you say rouge might be hiding something because she easily yanks shadow reminded me of a meme I saw online, where they point out that Amy wears rings on her wrists just like Shadows, meaning they are clearly inhibitor rings designed to restrain Amy's boundless power.
