  • Today we figure out what is left before we can fire up the LS3 swapped Land Rover Defender. We get the engine harness situated and make our list. We are close and knocking dominoes over.
    We also play with the little Honda Ruckus some. That 2.5 hp just can't climb hills.
    Make sure to subscribe to keep up to date on this Defender build.

    being in Australia where LR's are vastly more common, your channel is still very relevant and I've been watching since the disco conversion

      That's awesome to hear. We definitely are not in Rover country here in the middle of America. Mostly cornfields and American pick up trucks haha.

    Gonne be a ripper! You still have the LS D2? AFter perusing some Land rover 4.6 engine prices, im pretty sure mine is going to get an LS swap if Im ever going to get it going again haha

      Talking about the moped right? Haha. I do not have the LS swapped one anymore. It is quite the difference in them though. Way better power delivery.

    Ooo! Custom aluminum valve cover dress up pieces that have a laser etched LANDROVER script or Landrover logo with the 'L' also being used for a LS3 script hidden under the 'A' or thereabouts?

      Now that is a great idea! That is the direction I needed for an idea to run with. We’ll have to draw something up.

    LOL this is funny. You might prolly get more value if you done made it lectric. Now you gun be changing belts hoses oil and filters and it's gone be a liitle more whimpier like that boy that didn't eat his oats in the mornin'. Well it's a free country and you can do what you want I hope you like it.

      To each their own haha. I’m not against battery powered stuff. They have their place, just not in my Defender haha, or this particular one at least. Maybe another someday.

    Will there be another Amazon wonder winch fitted to the finished Defender?
    Looking great so far!

      As much as I’m 100% behind that Amazon winch, this one will get a Warn. Just at that level into it already haha.

    Sweet and don't forget bout the oil level sensor. Also heater core and A/C in the dash? make sure you leave room for them too

      See, I’m glad you are paying attention. I mentioned it and forgot it on the list.
      Yes, I’ll have to account for both of those under the dash as well.

    tensioner is a tad over range. its going to contact the idle pully. need a belt about .5 to 1 inch shorter.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Год назад

      That may be correct. I was going to wait until I had the actual bracket for the power steering machined. The one I 3D printed deflects with belt tension on it so that tensioner will be sucked back some with the actual bracket.

    Been subscribed now for a while and lived in DeWitt for several years. Now in WI. I have 3 Land Rovers. Your channel captured my attention as a result of the timing chain replacement. I know you used to do repairs on the Ole LR’s but is that something you still do?

      That’s neat, small world. Not a whole lot of work for the public anymore but still take on certain stuff here and there so if you ever need anything reach out and we may be able to help depending on what is going on.
      What do you have for Land Rovers?

      In 1st place is an ‘05 LR3 HSE, all original. She’s the people/kids mover with 7 seats and 250k miles. She’s been pretty much bullet proof.
      2nd is the Ole Sport, L320 HSE. She’s (not sure why they’re all females) a charity case that’s been ridden hard and with little work done until I got her! She’s about buttoned up less a new starter solenoid. At 120k miles, she is pretty complete. Just did a trip to TN and another around Lake Mi without a hitch!
      I’m a bit of a rescue case kind of guy, and the New Sport is a ‘’11 HSE Supercharged monster. She’s still driving fine with 140k miles but I purchased it with 120k miles and am now at 140k! It sound’s like a Cummins diesel and the supercharger coupling is on its last leg.

    So, what color will the Defender be?

      It is great to have pretty much everything needed here. But it’s not great for my a.d.d. as you can see haha.
      It is narrowed down on the paint. We may show that soon.

    Hi Joe, Great to see you making good progress on the LS Defender project. The issue with the Knock Sensor really sucks, especially as this is meant to be a complete kit, question, is it that some muppet fitted the wrong plug to the wiring harness, or did they install the wrong knock sensor?🤔 Good to see Sasha back in front of the camera even if she is only sunbathing lol 😂 Did the mods on the Honda manage to give the old girl one or two extra BHP, suppose if she now manages to climb the hill and achieve more the 20mph now we can class the conversion a big success 👍🤣 Look forward to the next update 👍😎

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Год назад +1

      It picked up a couple miles per hour up the hill. We may be at like 2.75 hp vs 2.5 now haha.
      I'm going to dig around and check what MAP sensor it is supposed have as well to see what side the issue is on.
