Another interesting one. What I like most about these is the sorta cool Sci-Fi steampunk vibe mixed with "how would I update this without losing that vibe."
That's true. This design just got left behind to history, it had a good run from the vz 26 to this. It's pretty crazy that this even predated the original PK, and the updated PKM came 9 years after that.
That's very close. Czechoslovakia made the vz-26, updated it to the ZGB 33. The Bren is a licensed copy of the ZGB 33. Then later came this model UK vz 59
I feel like what I wrote made a lot of sense. Basically, the UK didn't take inspiration for this for the Bren, they paid for a license to build a copy of a much earlier version of this to make the bren.
@mikeycraig8970 I think they stopped using it in 2012 officially. The L4 7.62 Bren's and this were built around the same time. This would technically be the final form of the ZB-26, which became the zb-30, was licensed to the British as the Bren, then continued it's Czech legacy as the UK59.
@@StayGoldGun It's more like a belt-fed ZB-30 in 7.64mmR. They even designed a push-through belt to the rimmed cartridge to make the feeding mechanism simpler (the bolt doesn't have to pull the round out of the belt and guide it to the feedway). It doesn't use SG-43 belts like the PK does.
