Heard this by Alan Jackson today in a RUclips short. Then found a Alan Jackson interview where he heard the original by Fred Eaglesmith on XM radio blue grass channel. Love this version too! 🎸🎸🎸🚂🚂🚂
saw Fred open for Cowboy Junkies at Meadowbrook about the time of Lipstick and Lies...what an eye-opening, taste expanding wonder...passionately poetic and 100% given
@@charlieburttram7961 - I saw him live with Willie on Harp and Mandolin. His band could really cook, Fred is a great songwriter, singer and performer. If you get a chance to see him live it's worth the trip, his stories between songs will crack you up. Lived a hard life growin' up on the farm in Canada and travelin' in an old school bus with his band.
This one has a wonderful beat and fred has his own style to sing, but alan just has a faster beat, and a stronger flourish. I cant tell who i like more
I love the raw, gutsy feel of this song. Only 23,000 views? This amazing song and musician deserves world wide recognition.
I would say that it has to do with not enough exposure. A friend introduced me to him. A diamond in the ruff!
Hes a Canadian songwriter, alan jackson and Aaron Watson made this song famous. Alan jackson recorder it like 12 years ago
this popped up on my youtube by accident. In the country im from we listen to diffrent music.

Thank you for all the awesome train songs...I feel my Daddy's spirit in these songs...
I love this song. And I don't understand why you rarely hear it on the radio. I feel that I'm being cheated!
My favourite "train" song.
Love it. I heard this at an open mic.
Saw him live once upon a time, I'll be there if he comes my way again!

Love this tune - planning on learning it on my mandola and guitar :) Thanks for sharing it!
What album is this version on??
John Popper at 3.00?
Nope, that's Willie on harp and mandolin. He's was a great performer, used to play slide mandolin, the only time I have ever heard that, wild sound.
Alan Jackson one is better
nobody does fred's songs better than himself - maybe lnj 's version is more polished, but this an argument against it
The version I like most was by Kasey Chambers, and I can't find it anywhere. 😭
