In the commentary for Despicable Me, the directors have stated that the henchmen turned into the small yellow pill-shaped Minions that we now all know and love, became to be because of budgetry reasons as the Henchmen became too expensive to do. In DM2, the lab security guards at the start were made to look what the Henchmen might be have been if they had a higher budget. Also, at one point the Minions were thought of being pantomine but was too limited so they speak Minionese a mix of english and french but with a lot of real words from all kind of languages (though not necessairly have the same meaning except for banana and bapple).
I absolutely loved the third movie. I wasn't excited for it when I saw the trailers but thought "why not? I'll see it in theaters". WORTH MY MONEY! I laughed so hard and I loved the story and animation and the voices. And Dru has to be my new favorite in these series.
