The trumpets suck this year bro. The saxes are carrying and can sight read most things with ease, trumpets can't play the song even though we have had it for 2 months, but trombones are mid. They have trouble sight reading, but they can actually learn it, unlike trumpets. Saxes are just cracked in the band I'm In bru
First time I played this I was playing with my upper jazz band (at the time I was in our lower) and I play Bari, and we played it at least twice as fast as we normally do and it was super fun
@@khylersturm7967 I do need a little help on this since I’m not the best when sight reading rhythms so if you could give me some tips that would be great!
As someone who listens to the many variations cannonball and nat played, this is the second best big band arrangement (the best was the ray brown all star big band with cannonball as a guest artist)
Does anybody have access or know where I can find the sheet music for the trumpet solo in the video (2:48). I have access to the printed one but I was wondering if anyone has this one.
What sucks about this is that I can't hear any Trombones. Especially Bass Bone and it is getting buried by thr Bari Sax. I like Nari Sax, but it would be nice to hear some Bass Bone.
That's what jazz is all about. You don't just play what's written and go from there. Improvisation plays a HUGE part in every jazz songs. Improvisation is what gives jazz its "feel."
@@Birdx69420 look at the score as it plays, (typically) is only playing hits and long notes. The only particularly intersting part of this arrangement for the bari is the solo. Listen back and look at the bari part on the score. The opening is alto 1.
This is literally what jazz is about! Tapping your foot to the beat and grooving around.
+Wimpykidcomputernerd That's why I like Jazz.
Fast paced, and you don't look weird tapping your feet to the beat.
Not always. Lounge and smooth jazz are really for the soothing relaxation
@@malevolution7041 yessssiirrrr
xD was tapping my feet as I read this AHAH
Just wanted to remind you that this song still exists
The bari lick at 1:01 is a great touch
Dude the bari part makes my cry tears of joy and happiness
johnny mans I know what u mean my friend plays bari on this and it so good
I'm playing bari for this piece for my college jazz band
Jazz music theorist I’m in middle school and we are playing this 😂😂

I found you ZHL242, now, when are transcribing gunslinging bird
@@shrillex_1530 lmao
Played this as lead trumpet with a section of 3 trumpets. Very fun piece to play and we absolutely carried. We were a small but mighty section.
Trumpets always carry
@@ThatOneTrumpetKid tell that to my jazz band where the trumpets are the weakest section

It’s pretty hard to play I played work song for my first year of jazz band and that part sucked
2:37 Don't ask me why, but I love this part so much
BARI SAX PART IS SOO FUN!

I fuckin love the bari part it's so fun to play
Oh my gosh, 2:37. It’s bouncy and fun, so good.
The thumbs down are the people who couldn't play it
My school is playing it for jazz band
@@Elizabethkrose My school's jazz band is playing it too!
Mine three
It’s a really easy tune so I highly doubt that
You say that like this is a difficult piece
4:12 to the end is my favorite as tenor 2
Playing this rn as 2nd trumpet. I love this song !
Bass is the beessttt
i am playing bass on this piece and i am so excited to play with my friends
Tenor playing trombone 1 for this one, would be great to hear the trombone parts more
1:59 such a great dirty line right there
Someone please comment on this in 3 years so i can remember this banger
I’ll do 3 weeks

Hi
Here’s another reminder
Drumset is the heart ❤️
Preach 🙏
We sight read this in ensamble today and I'm trumpet two. It sounds awesome but I was overwhelmed 😂
The sax triplets are godly
Yeah dude I am playing it this year it is fire I love the swings
0:38 that lick
Dude great tune... I would agree more trombone, but I love the sax solis
First song of the morning. I imagined a one take montage of my day... Very artsy!
Dude I'm laying this in highschool jazz now
I'm doing it in middle school B)
Played a version of this in High School Jazz. I played Bari sax
I'm playing this in my school's jazz band on trap set.
Ay I'm playing this in jazz band now as bari sax
playing this right now in high school, alto 2. sounds amazing when done right
I’m playing this in all county middle school jazz as alto 2!

Lead Bone player on this... Just all around a classic!
coming from a bari i love this song
Favorite part 🔥🔥🎷🎷 4:01
I played this song in jazz band. I am 1st trumpet. I had so much fun. Love the scream section
As someone who listens to the many variations cannonball and nat played, this is the second best big band arrangement (the best was the ray brown all star big band with cannonball as a guest artist)
Somebody please write out the improved trumpet solo i neeed to have this solo🤣😭
欲しいです😭
played this in jazz band back in 8th grade. Played trumpet, still do. This was so fun, I wish i had a video of a performance.
This song is so catchy! I'm trumpet 4 and playing it in my high school jazz band.
Dude I'm playing drum set at my high school for this!
I'm playing the drum set for this at my high school jazz band
Playing bass for this at my middle school
Sorry for flexing, but I'm lead trumpet
LITERALLY SAME
BASS FOR LIFEEEEE!!!!
Brandon Hein nice! upright or electric? I play electric.
I play both personally
More than obsessed
Same. Electric and Upright
I play double bass in my jazz band (until the D string snapped )-: now im stuck on electric) and i want to play this song so badly
I play both upright and electric bass as well as the contrabass tuba and sousaphone (marching band). Basses for life.
I miss playing the Bari so much
Ice Ferg, if we don't play this song for the May concert, the most important one, your reputation is ruined.
Where's that from?
Changing the speed to 1.25x is just amazing
It fits better with the original Adderley recording and I like it
i tried playing it at this speed (i'm trumpet 2) so that intro was SO HARD.
I did that too! It’s so fantastic
I'm playing this song with our music school BigBand and have an Alto 1 solo😄😎
Kaiya Birch upright bass? lol
This would be fun for my band director to pull out again, I want the Bari solo...
Does anybody have access or know where I can find the sheet music for the trumpet solo in the video (2:48). I have access to the printed one but I was wondering if anyone has this one.
Transcribe it yourself. It is improvised so you would have to learn it by ear if you really want to play it.
It's improv, your best bet is transcribing by ear like Benjamin recommended above, or improvising with the melody and intervals in mind.
solid 😁😁😁
1.25x basically turns it into a big band tune and man it hits hard
We rocked the Eugene Hult Center on this tune.
What part of the hult center did you play this at
This helped me play my 2nd tenor part.
Freddy Murray. i got the same part good luck with performing
Andrew Pizana Palacios thanks.
you too
I'm flexing, I'm lead trumpet
I play bari and I want to learn this so bad!
Listen to move the rug by Jeff Coffin way more jazzy but this still has the groove. We're doing this for jazz this yr too
I’m playing the other arrangement, though I wish my jazz band was playing this arrangement isntead
played this on drumset in my band 💗
WHERE MY BARI SOLOISTS AT!?
0.75 speed sounds pretty nice. its like that smooth jazz
OMG I am the only Alto Sax 1 and Get to solo through the whole song basically!!! Yay!
Nico Schumacher hahhaaaaaa SAME!!!
Nico Schumacher same
I'm an alto sax 2 and get to watch a superior player blast a solo
I'm Lead Trumpet
I play the trumpet solo
Played this with my quartet on violin, SO FUN- LITERALLY SO FUN
There’s a part where the bari tenor and alto play the rhythm together and it’s the best.
The drummers for all of the jazz bands who have played this song don't get enough credit in my opinion...
Lembra muito herb albert
2:48
3:17 ending
its lit
I love 2:07
2:13
1:00 = solo
What's the name of this bigband? I'm too dumb for this world. I like everything spelled out for me.
i play trumpet 2 and i have a solo and a soli :D

In my opinion solos are not fun unless you get to do a free solo

it sounds better at 1.25 speed
I’m surprised 2nd trumpet has the melody and not 1st
try watching in x2 speed
Better in 1.5

Your right
Doppleganger Code?
second trumpet isn't playing what's written, which throws me off
Oh rip. Well at least you guys get to play what's written. Our band director doesn't let us play what's written. We always have to ad-lib our solos.
That's what jazz is all about. You don't just play what's written and go from there. Improvisation plays a HUGE part in every jazz songs. Improvisation is what gives jazz its "feel."
Flash Gaming I agree
What's the point of lead trumpet if 2nd trumpet gets all the important parts
Needs way more trombone
Maxwell Patterson trombone 4 is loud
1965LizzyMiss trombone 3 or bass trombone? Either way I don’t hear any of them
Flash Gaming yea it seems you can hear more bari
Just the arranger forgetting rhe bari sax is an instrument for half the piece and then giving them a solo to make up for it
Bro, what? The bari sax is like the prominent sounding instrument in this piece
@@Birdx69420 look at the score as it plays, (typically) is only playing hits and long notes.
