Business Class Ferry to Cebu 🇵🇭

- I left Bohol by ferry and headed to Cebu. Business Class seats only cost 50% more than regular class, so it was an easy choice to book the comfortable seat.
The departure lounge at the Tagbilaran ferry terminal was very clean and comfortable, with a few nice food and drink options available. So I was able to relax in comfort with a mango coconut milkshake while waiting for my ferry to Cebu to arrive.
That's where the comfort ended, unfortunately, as I was unlucky enough to get the one business class seat on the ferry that had restricted legroom. I felt quite hard done by, as I'd paid the same price as everyone else in the business class cabin, but had a much worse seat.
The ferry was fast, though, and I had a friendly neighbour who gave me advice on places to visit and food to eat in Cebu.
When I arrived at the Cebu ferry terminal, I quickly checked the Grab app to see how much it would cost for a car to take me to my hotel. I checked the amount before exiting the terminal gates, so when I was approached by taxi touts I would know if they were overcharging me or not.
The guys who greeted me at the gates were asking me for double the amount quoted on Grab and it turned out they didn't even have cars. They were all motorbike taxis. So I just booked the Grab car through the app.
A very friendly driver came and took me to my hotel, Holiday Inn Cebu, that I'd booked for $75 a night.
I found that hotel room to be a bit on the small side and there was only a coffee table rather than a proper working desk. The internet wasn't exactly fast either. But I could make do with all of that.
After settling in to my new home in Cebu, I went out to visit Philippines' oldest street, that I had learned about from my Grab driver earlier.
Colon Street was the first street ever created by the Spanish when they arrived in Cebu back in 1565. These days it's a big busy road with low end retail shops and a few street vendors.
There aren't really old buildings or anything interesting for tourists there. I did buy a cheap knockoff Adidas cap and a fresh melon juice, and that was interesting to me though.
I wandered down a side street and ended up at some big complex. I wondered what it was and as I wandered in, I was asked to remove my baseball cap. That's because it was a church, and nit just any church, but the Basilica del Santo Niño, the oldest church in the Philippines.
After a bit of exploring, I had worked up a hunger and decided to visit a branch of Mang Inasal. I'd seen many branches of this restaurant and realised it must be popular.
It turns out to be a barbecue chicken restaurant, so I enjoyed some delicious chicken with a massive halo halo for dessert. A tasty way to end my first day in Cebu.

It reminds me of the marina from Bali to Gili islands. It was stinking hot too!,,,Hey amigo. I love your vlogging. I've been watching you since you had 200k subs. Now you have almost 3 Millions!!! Well done! You've inspired me to combine Spanish learning + travel. I just uploaded my first video showing the cable car in Santiago Chile with the Andes mountains in the background! I even referenced you when I said...Two strong legs! I hope someday you make it to South America! Chile, Argentina Buenos Aires, Uruguay which is only 1 hour from Buenos Aires, Brasil etc

What I like about these vlogs is that he keeps them raw, no fancy editing or putting on a show. It actually feels like we're there with him.
True! Nung sa baguio siya parang ako yung nag hihike e 😂
True Dale definitely makes me feel like I’m there with him. 💯🎯
I think the foreigner is the taxi driver 😂😂
The Grab Driver was an extremely intelligent, smart man. So impressed by him!
I hope Mr. Driver can travel around the world like you someday, he deserve it because his knowledge about other countries🙂

I'm now at the point where one hour vlog from Dale is not enough for me.
Same here

Yeah we need full day livestreams!
The Grab driver is cool af hope he gets a chance to travel outside the Philippines!
We all want 3 hours vlog from Dale always 😂❤
You are really lucky to meet that kind local in the ferry, he provides good advice and help!
In fact, you can keep that teddy bear as a companion, or as a lucky charm, and show it out every time you visit a new restaurant!
There are some restaurants in that old street, so glad you end up going to Mang Inasal, it is the first time I see their food, it looks great!!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful first day in Cebu, happy travels! 👍🥰🙌👊
P. S. Dale, it seems that you didn’t read the comment I took a lot of time to write in the last episode. Just a reminder!😄✌
mann, I miss cebu so much! Love seeing Dale interact with other filipinos, especially the grab driver, learned so much from him.
Its nice to see you mingle with the locals and how you always make them laugh. Not many scottish people doing what you do on RUclips i find it quite comforting as a fellow scot 🏴❤
I want to be able to strike conversations as organically as the one between Dale and the cab driver, man; what a friendly, well-read man. He stands out for me on this vlog. 😮❤🥺
When Dale arriving in Cebu and was surrounded by many people, I could feel that Dale hoped that Grab would quickly pick him up 😅
People behaving like this toward tourist is what keep me from travelling.and i spend my holiday on luxury place only
@@TruthSeekers13 Facts. I wanted to visit that country but after seeing that New Zealand guy get robbed and died protecting his girlfriend and seeing multiple videos of people haggling foreigners.... im not going to any 3rd world country anymore. @@MrYega-zq7rzLOL there's always such incidents anywhere in the world.. it's a rare case as compare to your country and to other countries. The Philippines have so many options for luxury travels and fyi we are not a third world country

You're a decent guy Dale. You don't feel you need to go to dangerous places and no sleazy exploitative vibe like there is with some vloggers. Keep doing what you do!
really enjoying these vlogs Dale, like others I appreciate the simplicity of the videos, basically raw footage of your experiences. Definitely motivates me to travel to new places when I get an opportunity
I was so impressed by the grab driver and his knowledge about capitals 🤯 that was so random but he definitely nailed it!
@exozeropoint580 He was so impressive! I hope to encounter him when I visit Cebu again.
Of all the youtubers and their channels I appreciate that Dale is not only interested in the countries, the lifestyle and the people but he also takes the time to educate himself of the local history to share with his viewers as well ❤
Educate himself?
@@nookienokienookie3023 umm yes learning something he didn't know and passing that newfound knowledge onto others

I love watching your blog tours as I get to see the world without going anywhere 😊 thank you 😊
Fellow jock and Rangers supporter here Dale mate. Love the long vlogs buddy it makes me wish I'd done a lot more travelling but you're made for it mate, keep going mate 👍🏻
Dale and Luke are the only travel vloggers I'll watch
I watch them & the rest of the boys. Other than that, the odd other one like Daily Max.
Luke & Dale have no sponsors though which is always nice. Of course Luke is sponsoring himself now, but still way less annoying than people shilling shitty watches, etc lol.
Give TriFate Lifestyle a chance, they have their charm of their own and quite wholesome too
I enjoy Kurt too.
check out harold baldr. he is the best for me along with dale, Luke & bald&bankrupt

You're in the perfect time to be in the Philippines, bro. It's Christmas season it's gonna be very exciting if u experience the local stuffs there
I've visited the Philippines twice, once in Cebu and recently in Manila. I should have visited during the holiday season. I'll definitely keep this in mind for next time!
Firstly I was absolutely gobsmacked by the general knowledge of the grab driver, secondly this was probably Dale's only video where he was shouting at the camera 😂.
But who cares as long as it's Dale's vlog! An absolute treat! I don't know if it's just me or is Dale looking far too young! Good on you mate! 👏. Now it's only you and Luke on my list of vlogers.

Mr. Grab Driver should be the Philippines Grab ambassador. Knowledgeable, friendly, very good English . Someday when I go to Cebu, I will have to take his taxi.

We just came from Edinburgh, That’s Dales hometown. I’m very much impressed and amazed on how beautiful the place and people of Scotland are. Enjoy your stay here in my homeland, the Philippines and hope you’ll capture more of the nice places and hospitable Filipinos as you go around. I suggest you go and visit another very “cool” place near you, that’s tagaytay. It’s a volcano within a loch, that’s within another loch. I say cheers to you my man and safe passage to all your adventures!

I remember staying in that holiday inn. Their executive suite rooms weren't much more and had a big desk, huge bathroom, and separate room to sleep.
Usually I get an upgrade for free, by having diamond status, so I booked the cheapest room.
Great Grab ride engagement! I would usually tip a guy higher for that experience! Thanks for sharing Dale! Enjoy the Philippines!
Cebu's Best Grab Driver indeed!! 👍👍👍 You're such lucky to encounter and meet him Dale and had a nice conversation!
Welcome to Cebu, Dale. It's my hometown. I'm a digital nomad and haven't been home for over two years. Your video makes me want to come home :D

Hi Dale!! RUclips notified me so watching right now from Ifugao
@Dale....I suggest you tour the mountains of Cebu City and visit Temple of Leah which is a magnificent memorial structure built in a Greek-style architecture. Contrary to some claims, Temple of Leah is not a mausoleum but just a memorial for the deceased wife of a loving husband. Leah's remains are not buried there. Aside from the large statue of the late Leah, the temple contains around 24 chambers which contain Leah's exploits during her global travels. The temple is still under construction up to this day. The slow pace of its completion is attributed largely to the site being opened to the public due to the insistent demand from the visitors who saw leaked videos and photos online. The temple was intended originally as a private repository of Leah's possessions/mementos she gathered during her travels from around the world but after the leaked videos and photos, a barrage of requests online urging the family to open it to the public for a fee to which the family eventually gave in. Thus, the temple was finally opened to the public in 2015.
Nothing is more satisfying than receiving the dale's youtube notification.Cheers from Nepal😇🥰
That grab driver was infectious! Had me grinning at my PC screen watching him! So funny and friendly, what a guy.
That Cab Driver seems like a very nice guy, whole time laughing and entertaining you while also teaching you a lot of things. I hope he stays safe!
They definitely knew what they were doing assigning the tourist that specific seat 😂
Welcome to Cebu Dale, the best English Speaking City/Province in the Philippines.
So amazing, keep up the excellent work.
Wow Dale you're in Cebu. I've been there a couple of times already. I'm so glad that you tried Mang Inasal. The foods there are my favorites. Mang Inasal has lots of branches all over the Philippines because of the unlimited rice on its menu. You know Filipinos love rice so much. And also the chicken there is tasty and yummy. By the way regarding the halo-halo, you should mix the ingredients first. Halo is a tagalog word which means "mix". 😆 That's why it is called by that name. But anyway its really up to the person on how to eat that. 😆 You should try other beautiful spots in Cebu Dale. Looking forward for more videos. Take care. ❤☺️
I am literally in the supermarket buying lunch right now, perfect timing 😁
Nice bro! What did you get for lunch? I had jollibee for the first time and it was very disappointing
@@Jnigo tigerbread with mexican grilled beef 😁 edit: I never had jollibee, Dale always seems to like it.. what was so bad about it?
Hi Dale, Welcome to CEBU.
Tagged as the best Lechon in the Philippines - arguably the world.
Dale the Lechon, Litson, or Inasal in Cebu are always of special quality and taste, and always the best tasting. Look for CNT lechon or Rico's lechon; these are two of the best lechons in Cebu. And the most popular places where you can find the best lechon in Cebu are in Talisay and Car-Car, although Car-Car is a bit far south of Cebu. Enjoy. And Dale, the famous influencer Mark Weins, was in Cebu, and his vlog about Cebu's lechon went viral with over 6 million views on RUclips and Facebook. And they went to Talisay to see how the lechons were prepared and roasted, the method of cooking lechons in Cebu.
Lechon Cebu is known to be overrated

50:15 Basilaca De Sto. Nino is one of the oldest church in the Philippines. It was built on the same spot where the image of the Sto. Nino de Cebu, a statue depicting the Child Jesus, was found in 1565 by Spanish explorers led by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The image is the same statue given by Ferdinand Magellan to the wife of Rajah Humabon as a gift over forty years after Humabon’s baptism to Christianity. 👍
