- In this video I demonstrate how you change on a Dodge Magnum 2006 which also apply to Chargers, Challengers and 300s as well how to change the rear diff fluid. I use Full Synthetic 75W-140.

I was always told to undo filling bolt first and then drain bolt second in case you couldnt undo filling bolt once the oil came out
I thought that was Dr. Frasier Crane changing the diff fluid for a second! Good video, very helpful.
These instructions, including the hex socket size and fluid type, worked perfectly for my 08 magnum (of course I checked the fluid type in the manual, they matched). I thought I saw a mention of needing an extension for dual exhaust and that is indeed the case. You only need the extension on the check/fill plug because it sits up higher where the exhaust pipe is. Thank you for this video. I have my Haynes manual which gets you 80% there but this video clears up the remaining 20% which for me was huge. I will say this; my milage was 147K, I've never had the diff. fluid changed since I bought the car back when it had 20K miles on it. The fluid looked yellow, not quite deep yellow so I think every 50K miles is overkill but glad I changed the fluid anyway and at least found out what the state was.
I see there are low profile rims / tires. Therein that has an impact on stress on a differential. OEM Big wheels and tires were engineered to match designed differentials.
Great video. Thanks!

Some FYI for others.. just changed mine at 50K , I am the original owner . Oil was still clear and amber colored. Also there is no loc tite , sealer , or Teflon tape used on the plugs from factory so no need to be concerned with that. Threads are tapered so just snug it up. To get level read when using a jack :Jack up drivers side rear , drain and fill until oil spills out of fill plug opening, lower jack so the car is level again letting over fill spill out ,jack it back up and put fill plug back in. With dual exhaust you will also need a 6 inch 1/2 extension for fill plug.
Thanks, good video, easy to follow. Appreciate your insight.
Glad it was helpful!
Thankx for the video my 05 magnum has 120000 I've gotta change my rear end oil this helps a lot
Always loosen the fill first. You dont want to drain it and then find the fill frozen or stuck.
Great video! I have an 08 2.7l. Don’t know if it’s ever been changed. 170,000 on the dash. Would you recommend changing it still. If so what weight of oil?
DeMarkesdaMarine same you see in the video
Good video. Rather than change twice (for over due service) I would remove the differential cover and give the inside a good cleaning with brake cleaner.
14 MM = 9/16, not 3/8, always loosen the fill plug first
Having it warmed up is great advice. Except, watch your arm on that exhaust pipe.
Always remove the fill plug first. If you can't remove it, you don't want to drain the differential.
Point taken. I just do that a little to often so ....
Do u have the car jacked up?😊
yea
Nice Video. Thanks!
What kind of oil is that so I need to get 2 bottles
Your the best thank you for the video

Is this the same with the srt8 models?
weld the diff !!!! better drifting that way ..... :-)
Wow..that was bad man!!! I hope it was ok!!!
Were you getting noise like whining or humming?
no but felt that it was time to flush it.
Did you ever troubleshoot your whining/humming sound, uhmeiz?? I’m hearing it on mine. I think it’s Torque Converter, but a shop says Rear Diff. I was gonna flush, thoughts, anyone?
@@Nozem13 So how did it work out for you, Diff trans?
Thanks !!!!!
you could not move your camera? unbelievably?
