Honestly the idea of giving two different directors and crew the same exact script and playing it out with two different visions then having it play in theaters is GENIUS!!! I would love to see that!
If they could just make it affordable to do it would be neat. But I also see problems with that as it would turn filming that much more adversarial. Like, say both will smith and the rock release a film at the same time. Two different films, two different genres, two different stories. And if one does better ah well. But if both are doing the same film I feel like that would cause a lot of hard feelings as its way more direct of a competition between them. And by them I really mean everyone involved.
They just did this with Justice League. There is literally 2 different visions for the exact same movie. It's pretty wild to compare the 2. Both on HBO. The Snyder cut is my favorite out if the 2.

I've seen a show that used to do this. Some director set it up where he would give the same screen play to two different filmmakers and see their adaptations on it. The two filmmakers would get a budget of how to do the film as well. It was on the show where Shane Dawson and this other young lady were the two filmmakers and they got a budget to showcase their individual takes on the same story. I don't remember what the other female filmmaker's movie was called, but Shane's was a really terrible movie called "not cool."
I remember Will had a movie premiere and Charlotte North Carolina. He worked the crowd and his personality is exactly how he is in movies in real life. Real charismatic and was truly the bright spot. He was taking pictures with fans, giving hugs and dapping people up it was awesome.

That actually happens all the time. Sometimes just differing views between two people in charge of a movie. For example, originally Bug's Life and Antz were one script, or at least had the same place of origin. Also- I think the same thing happened with White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen.

In fact, I think that film was kind of a trail-blazer in terms of re-imagining old TV classics as action comedies right along with Richard Donner's Maverick w/ Mel Gibson. Years later, you get Starsky & Hutch, CHiPS, etc.

I love that idea Will has about the screenplay. I had a similar idea where the leads swap roles (heroes/villain) so the same movie twice only the actors switch roles.
