This was very hard for me to follow at first but by the time you got to the razor concept it finally sunk. Thank you for the videos!

One thing I notice is just because you accept the end of your physical life doesn't mean you're actually going to physically die at that time. Sometimes it does, but many times there is a shift in health and the body responds, because you release all resistance.

I've experienced what may be The Void, or Totality, once, when I was around 24 or 25.
I didn't get there, a friend who I meditated with took me there.
Maybe I've left this comment before, but it was both form and formless.
Totality, and later, about half way through that experience, there was a sense of collapsing into singularity while simultaneously expanding sense of totality.
I've had some amazing moments, but that took the cake.
The sense of well being was crazy. I was both the observer and the 'thing' being observed.
It's impossible to articulate, but it seemed a lot like what a toroidal field must be; the center was collapsing inward like a kind of donut.
    There were no substances involved.
That experience sounds a LOT like what David is expressing here.
The friend who took me on that ride was really into Castaneda. Though I am aware that nothing happened the way Castaneda claimed it did, he got powerful insights from somewhere to be able to put out those best sellers that apparently actually hold practical, useful lessons.
    It was mind blowing.

“Emptiness is form, and form is emptiness.”
The crucial clarity that ‘no-self’ or Awareness is _not_ the new or next identity to covet, to replace the identity’ called the ‘person,’ is beautifully & cogently presented here by David, who has real mastery in unpacking these critical points. It should be required listening for all on the _path_ still under the illusion that the game is to _trade_ the form identity for the formless. It’s both…and neither.
Also, kudos for referencing Jay Garfield’s rich work on this subject.

I meditated and found that I love my personality. As I love my true self. I love them both. Because that IS my true nature. To love them both. Even though my personality is based on illusion it is still a manifestation, and therefore it exists, which brings me to a choice. To love it and accept it. Or to be "disgusted" by it. And have contempt, which is not sustainable or healthy in any way. And if we knew ANYTHING at all, about a heart sutra, we would all love them both too. You in fact would love them all. The body. The thinker. And the source, or as you call it, the "awareness". Because there is no seperation. There is only #Love
Have a very wonderful night. & Thanks for all you do.

Great orator. If he/you were speaking an unknown language it would illuminate the building blocks of speech that I use to understand reality. Knowing I exist without those, I see my reactions are not me, my personalities are not “me.” Ever changing.

I have a strong sense that the body is there and doesnt change, but my mind is a mind of points of light, from the siberian forests to the desert, I see flashes of form in all its variation. I have a fondness for the eye, then the ear. I feel the point of contact from the eyes "hurts" people and even hurts me that I look away from the suffering. I want to overcome my aversion to peoples sight and find bravery to face them honestly. Making eye contact feels like a "baggage contest".

So the me that’s uncomfortable, irritable and discontent doesn’t exist and my thoughts don’t mean anything ? I feel a tad better now . I’ve grown tired and weary of this limitation program I’ve been running .

Even look at the concept of the second thing you just said "I feel a tad better now" is no different from the you that's uncomfortable and irritable. It's just another story, go up another level

Good point , even saying ‘I’m good , I’m bad, etc.’ how about ‘I am’ and have no thought or feeling attached? Is that the idea, basically no thought?

    • @mattevans8090
      @mattevans8090 Год назад

It's not that you have no thought, because you are having those thoughts. But it's more about acknowledging that you're observing those thoughts and not needing to identify with them@@Johnny-dn2kk

@@Johnny-dn2kk no thought is impossible to maintain. Also impossible to be a person in the world without thought. But to not base your identity on the thought is what he is saying I believe. As he says in many of his lectures he is encouraging everyone to practice meditation. To set aside time of the day to sit zazin. To experience the truth of no self and then once experienced you will naturally alter behavior including not listening to thought that is harmful and not engage in speech or actions that is harmful. Or at least that is what I have gleaned from him. He is a very good teacher. I prefer him to many others on yt for his easy way of explaining hard concepts.✌️

What is it called when you create delusions to cope with difficult situations? Thats what this all seems like. The awareness and the personality makes up the one. Without awareness, you are a vegetable. Without personality, you are a zombie.
